2:15pm in Baltimore County heading on Route 40 towards White Marsh. I gave you a DCMM card at the light at Rossville and we exchanged 3 or 4 waves

Two more, I'm seeing them all over this week! WOOOOHOOO!

Both around White Marsh, both around 3:15-3:30.

1. Pulling into the shopping center just out of White Marsh Mall, we exchanged a few words and I gave you a DCMM card. (DS/B)

2. Turning into the shopping center on Cambells Blvd. with Best Buy, Dicks, BB&B. It took you a few toots of the horn to look and see who it was, but we exchanged a wave. (PW/PW)

Yesterday, in the Merrifield Plaza parking lot (corner of Lee Highway and Gallows Road), after leaving lunch at Arby's with my boss and coworker, a DS/DS MCS with the VA license plate MOTRGRL was parked next to my bosses car. A beautiful blonde woman was in the drivers seat talking on her cellphone, but I didn't stop to say hello because:

1) I wasn't in my MINI - we took my boss' black Lexus
2) I didn't have any of the DCMM cards with me

So it would have been kinda weird. Ah well - spotted anyway!

Silver MCC

Was driving next to a Silver MCC yeserday on 495 heading towards MD. Looked exactly like my car minus the stripes. It turned into the Dulles toll road though.

Saw a cool-blue convertible with a reddish haired woman with a red hat making a U-turn heading for 495 in Bethesda.

Marina?

Hehe. I figure it makes fun of both SUVs and the MINI too, as in "SUVs are way too damn big, so I had to get the smallest friggin' car you can possibly get (new)". Non-SUV owners will probably agree "Yeah, they ARE too big" and SUV owners shouldn't be insulted since they are proud of their size, typically!
You know what they say, Edge, "It's not the size that matters, but how you use those HPs under the bonnet!" (Did I just say that out LOUD?)

PS: I realize your post is over a year old, but I'm just now getting around to reading all of these!!! :impatient

I know this car. If you read it upside down, it's supposed to read, "MINI M3." A BMW wannabe... (they're nice, too).

Ahhh, you shouldn't be so worried about what people think of you when they don't reciprocate your wave...I wave all the time and to those who don't wave back, especially on the highways, I kind of figure they're just busy in thought, or keeping their mind on their driving, and to those who are on their cell phones or who just don't want to play, I say "grow down" and have some fun, will ya?

But I especially want to say to those cell phone ones, "Get off the damn phone and drive--pay attention!!!") I have a real problem with them because a good friend of mine just recently got run over by someone who was pulling into their company's parking lot, dropped their cell, and was fishing around for it (instead of waiting until he parked) when he hit my friend who was just getting off the night shift, heading back to his car. Both of my friend's legs were broken, his hip, his arms, and he will never walk right again... He will be laid up for at least a year, we are told.

And, to those of you who do wave back, I say "Thank You for making my day!" Doesn't take much.

I know I'm posting from "way back when" messages, but I'm looking to see if anyone has seen my MINI, EB 2003 "MINIMUM" in Maryland, Virginia or DC. I get around.

This has more than likely been discovered by now...but I do recall on the MINIUSA website reading about a universal wave that is either the, thumb & pinkie up wave, or the 2nd finger and pinkie wave... (I think one of those is Hawaiin, also, isn't it.)

the thumb/pinky wave is the surfer wave. 'right on brah! surf or die!'

Not trying to start another flame session on this topic, and no offense to anyone who disagrees, but this waving thing is a bit fascist--if I happen to be looking around at other cars and I see you, and if I can wave safely, I will.

If I don't, it's neither fair nor accurate to either presume that I'm ignoring you, or ascribe some snobbery to my inaction... driving a car, sometimes other matters are pressing... just my humble opinion.
Amen to that, Paul, and that's why I try to give non-wavers the benefit of the doubt--you see, I believe responsible driving is more important than ANYTHING, ANYTHING that one does in a car. And, if you read an earlier post by me in this thread, you'd understand why.

When I am able to safely do so, I too like to wave to other MINIs and usually with nice responses, but when I don't get a wave back, that's okay, too. I did my part to try and brighten someone else's day--and I don't take it personnally.

This was definitely not me, Will, however, we must be working neighbors. I was working at the Thomson Financial building up until November of last year on Research, and now I work at the former Aspen Bldg, now Lockheed Martin, up on Reasearch. We're on the corner of Gude & Research. We have at least 6 MINIs at my new gig. 2 CR/W, 1 CR/conv., 1 PW/conv. & 1 brand new Hyper Blue/conv, and of course mine, an EB/W bonnet stripes, MD tag, MINIMUM. Have you seen me?

Wow, MDS, I'm impressed. Very poetic. You put a tune to it and you could probably sell it.

This leads me to believe that there is a market out there for a sign or fan or something that you can wave at people (maybe the MINI logo or "My real car is a MINI?) to let them know? I want to get a license plate frame for my hubby's Bimmer that says, My other car is a MINI, if I could get him to pry the National Capital Chapter one off.

Of course when I actually see a mini that will probably have a driver that will respond, I am not in my car!
Just a thought, but maybe the dragon makes you stealth?...

Not Everyone Bought their MINI for Fun!

I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone bought their MINI because of their love of fun (misguided people). They actually bought theirs for "practical" reasons like, commuting, getting from Point A to Point B. Not me, I love to find alternate routes by using my GPS, which usually takes me really off the beaten path, and usually takes me twice as long, but I like that.

You gotta feel really sorry for them. I especially like the really "dressed up in a business suit guys" who look too big for their cars, and who don't dare look at another MINI for fear of being recognized... I just LOVE putting my hand out my sunroof and giving them an exceptionally lonnnggg wave. Makes me laugh.

What do you think? Modify so you have a pop-up waving hand on the roof? Motorize it and make good use for the unused steering wheel control button on the pre 2005 cars?

I'm just "swinging-back" at the snub effect. That's all.
What a GREAT idea that is, Jim! I'd like it, and I'd probably mod it for the MINI wave (I can't recall exactly what fingers stand up, I think it's either the thumb + pinkie, or the 2nd finger + pinkie, or is it the thumb + 2nd finger + pinkie???). I know I read it either off MINIUSA site or in the paraphernalia we get from MINI.
