Dupont: MINIs everywhere!

my own weekend report of MINI spotting.

saturday: in a 45-minute walk running errands around dupont circle, we saw 9 MINIs (mix of cooper and cooper s). this was all within about a 5-6 block radius.

sunday: in a trip to home depot (NE washington) and back, saw 8 MINIs (again, a mix). oh, this includes one ZipCar MINI.

it's torture that i have to wait about 6 more weeks. but TODAY our status changed from "on order" to "scheduled for production." we even have a VIN now!!

Any body in this forum from Capitol Hill - DC ??

In my block (300 of 10th St NE) we have one cute liquid Yellow MCS plus of course our two MCC (my however, is either out with me on in the garage!!)
Around the block ( 1200 block of D Street NE ) three more Minis: Yellow, Red and Dark Silver.

One block down (on MD Ave) a Velvet red Mini, one block up a MCS Electric blue.
Walking around the neighborhood with my dog makes me smile....

I've started taking another route to work and noticed every morning an EB MCS in a shopping center off of Ten Oaks Road (right off Rt. 32) in the Glenelg area.

Also driving home last night I saw an MC40 model of the MCS coming out of the road the new post office is on in Eldersburg (across the street from Libery High School).

I just joined the ranks... but I don't think my car would be all that recognizable yet, since I still have temporary tags. If you see a new Hyper Blue MCS with the Works badge on it, in the Annandale, Merrifield, Fairfax & Tyson's Corner area... that's probably me.

The license plate I'm getting? Now that I've reserved it, I don't mind announcing it:

SUV2BIG

Hehe. I figure it makes fun of both SUVs and the MINI too, as in "SUVs are way too damn big, so I had to get the smallest friggin' car you can possibly get (new)". Non-SUV owners will probably agree "Yeah, they ARE too big" and SUV owners shouldn't be insulted since they are proud of their size, typically!

DAMN! ... and here's thinking I was being original... oh well, I'm the first in Virginia I guess!

If that guy ever shows up to the same meet, it would be funny to take pics of the two cars side by side. Mind you, I don't have the plate yet (car's only been in my hands for 8 days!).

PW MCS ~8ish this morning at the intersection of Ten Oak Rd and Green Bridge Rd in Glenelg.

Immediately followed by a squirrel sacrificing itself to the Mini gods by running in front of my car.

That may be the one that I've seen every so often on Little Rocky Run Dr. I've only seen it in the driveway twice, I think it's normally garaged...

Someone has to know who this car belongs to - I have DCMM tagged it about 10 tens and they are probably getting sick of me!

3. Silver MC or MCS heading towards Manassas Airport passing DMV off of Hastings Drive.

At the Wash Nats vs Os game

Just got back from Fl. Saw two MINI Coopers in Viera, Fl at the Space Coast Stadium, CR/W and PS/B. Saw a bunch of others in and around the Patrick AFB down to Melborn Beach area. I even flashed one to stay in practice. Yaaup that was a MINI owner in the big green car.

This morning around 9:45

I believe I spotted Babswife taking the exit ramp from 28 N to 606 W
Who else would be driving in that area in a Blue MCS with roof rack and 30 day tags????

Carolyn and I were headed 28 North on our way to Scan furniture. Was it you Patricia????

There is a lot of "I saw" on this thread and not a single "that was me". But I'll give it a try.

Around 6:30 this evening I saw a BRG MCS with white bonnet strips driving out of Napa on hwy 121 somewhere near the turn for Wooden Valley Road. Anyone want to claim it?

I was going the other way in a PS MCSc (top down of course). It sure was a beautiful evening for a drive after this morning's rain.

The other day I encountered a PS MCS with MD plates "ZIP". We had some fun in the roundabouts near where I live.

Yes, that would have been me --- funny you would have totally missed me had I not left my badge at home!!! I went through that intersection TWICE yesterday --- once at my normal time just before 9am --- second at about 9:45ish. URGH, I hate it when I do that!!

Hugs,
PB

Monday 4/28/05 @ 12:30 or so at the Annapolis Public Library on West Street a COOOL Red MCS w/ white top with Canadian Flag on it... (VA plate??) Very Nice.. it was raining hard but the little one appeared to be smiling

The Saturday before in Annapolis near the Mall I saw a Blue MCS (MD plates) with a driver who did not smile and looked at us (both Convertibles driving side by side) as we were two idiots.... Maybe he was afraid that we would attack him. We kept waveing and smiling.. Nothing he did not smile or wave back..

Some people should have their Minis' motoring rights revoked...
