for some reason my Griots package is shipping to my house...

Must've hit the wrong button when I ordered... Which is still fine. Usually I have it shipped to work.

Guess ill try out that 9pos hose nozzle in the hailing rain tonight.

I need a new hose nozzle, Ken... I'm tired of replacing my cheapy $15 nozzle every few months. I'll be waiting for your review.

I'll be having my bonnet stripes replaced with some added protection tomorrow with Mark at Ultrashield. I'll post before and after pics.

Maybe we need to make more trouble for Mark here so we can keep him around...

Detailing Vendor X SUX!!!!! And their GD fanboi shills are scum sucking rat btards who must be getting free love favors from Vendor X's sister to keep saying stupid things about Vendor X like "their product has always worked fine for me" and "I've always gotten good service from them"... which of course we know is impossible, because VENDOR X SUX!!!!!

There. That should do it.

On a completely unrelated note, it's smoky around here today. Like the Smoky Mountains. But smells worse. 40,000 acre wildfire over 100 miles away... but the wind carried the smoke here...

Cool... getting a full clearbra ??

Or is it a secret ?

Damn, Paul... I hope you're wearing a surgical mask when you go outdoors. That air looks like it'll give you black lung in no time.

Not a full bra. For some reason, I just don't like the full bra. I know it is barely visible, but I see it .

So ... while at the auto show I was chatting with Ultrashield Mark and told him my sentiments. My bonnet stripes have little chips/rips that really can't be touched up, so Mark suggested he could apply the clearshield just on the stripes.

I thought it was a good idea, so I took him up on it.

Now I'm not sure how far up the stripes the clearshield should go

I'll decide tomorrow at his shop ....

We've had "yellow" air quality the past two days here.

If you're adverse to the line, then the thing to do would be to get the entire bonnet stripes covered, right ?

Question: regardless of how much stripe you cover, won't you still have four lines ? One on each edge of the stripe. Even if he goes exactly to the edge of the stripe, it's going to build up the surface of the stripe enough to make a line. Right ??

You're right; I should probably cover the whole stripe.

I think my eyes will be able to handle the for lines because they will be on the edge of the stripes and not running across the hood, which is what I find disturbing. Deos that make sense?

Well if it were me, and I was having a chip problem, I'd remove the stripes, touch up any paint chips, put on new stripes, and then seal the whoooooooole thing up with a full hood wrap clear bra. Just be sure you REALLY like your stripes! Pricey though...but if I were to do everything all over again, that's what I'd have done - a full hood wrap.

But I don't really have a chip issue with my stripes. I have a few above the line of the clear bra (maybe 3 or 4)...but not on the stripes.

Since it's your car, your opinion is the only thing that matters. So it doesn't have to make sense to me, even though I do understand your view.

Me... I find dozens of chips a lot more disturbing than a very thin line across the bonnett only visible from a few feet away. But that's just another opinion, no more valuable than yours.

Mel's idea of a full bonnet wrap is a great one, but $$$$$$.

I have no lines on my stripes... I had my stripes laminated with clear bra material. And the bonnet wrap is cut exactly along the edge of the stripes... so the clearbra and stripes are effectively the same thickness (because the vinyl by itself has almost no thickness). It's perfect. I DO have lines along the painted area of the bonnet where the clearbra ends... but you can't see it from more than a few feet away...

And we had red air quality here today. Purple for a couple of hours. Drove with the top up, it was so bad... cabin air filter works GREAT...

So the whole length of the stripes and front of the car are covered with several pieces of clearshield, is that right? (two strips for the stripes and then three? sections for the front of the car?)

Correct. The bonnet piece is actually the pre-cut Xpel single piece, that had the stripe sections cut out. I got here a strange way... had the Xpel dealer installed over the OEM stripes. Then later ordered clearbra-laminted custom stripes from Aesthetic Creations (the first ones like that he did) that are cut exactly the same as the OEM stripes. The Xpel installer had actually scored (cut) along the edges of the OEM stripes to make the Xpel lay flat there and minimize the seam. So when I pulled of the OEM stripes, the Xpel sheared perfectly along those lines and left a perfect gap that the new stripes nestled into with a bit of massaging during install.

But you could (1) get laminated stripes (2) install them (3) have Xpel installed over them and (4) have the installer cut out the extra clearbra that goes over the stripes and achieve the same effect. Or get regular stripes and have your clearbra guy cover those... but I'd be nervous about him cutting the clearbra along the edges of the stripes on the car...

Neat!

Yeah, I hope I'm happy with what I'm doing. I can live with the chips in the paint as they can be reasonable fixed. But the rips in the stripes are the problem, hence the clearshield going over them.

I'll report back tomorrow after they are done.

get home until late. so yah, i haven't actually tried the nozzle yet
but i did check it out.

build quality - looks very good for a $15 nozzle. i like the clicking action
between the different spray modes. the only thing i'd kinda worry is how
durable that clear plastic container is that holds the shampoo. it's not
thin, it doesn't appear to be brittle, but i tend to drop my nozzle pretty
often so who knows.

will see how it works hopefully tomorrow.

as far as the brass male fittings for the quick-lock, it appears compatible
with the generic one i bought at Acehardware.

and the SprayOn Car Wash. the color is very similar to SpeedShine so
need to be very careful to differentiate when you use it. smell... it smells
like rich speedshine (?) will try it maybe over the
weekend if i have any kickups.

That's a pretty good review, ken, especially considering you haven't even used it yet ! Thanks... I'll go check out their website and read what they have to say about it, too. Although I am pretty sure you're review is more thorough.
