5,000 posts bay-bee!

Alas, my triumph is as sour as vinegar. My personal waste of time on this forum is infinitesimal, compared to the mighty time-wasting kenchan.

nono, you have it all wrong. im here when im waiting for time to
go by, not wasting time.

in my line of work i have super busy days and days i just wait for things
to fall into place. it's like detailing.... you're busy polishing and waxing.
then you have to wait. 25-35min on a 70F+ day with 65RH or less for
the wax to dry. it's one of those days.

that's all.

Got it. Fantastic rationalization. Gotta remember that one.

"Waiting for time to go by"

"Wait for things to fall into place"

I do that a lot.

Awesome.

But ...

I haven't put them on yet because I got these in my "Installation Kit":

They sent me lug nuts instead of bolts. It looks like I could use the MINI lug bolts, but those aren't finished.

This is my first venture into aftermarket wheels. I contacted Wheelfire.com about this (via e-mail and voice mail) but no reply yet. Shouldn't they have sent finished bolts? They must have made a mistake, right?

I think a lot of people change over to lug bolts with after market wheels.

You mean a bolt that would screw into the MINI's hubs and that would stick out with threads for a nut to be screwed on? ( That reads funny for some reason.)

Anyway, I just got a reply from them and they admitted it was a mistake and they are sending the bolts tomorrow.

OK, back to detailing ...

What technique/method do you folks use to detail the black "grill" beneath the bumper? In the past, I've used 303 on this with a Q-tip as well as a micofiber wrapper around my finger (a bit too big though to get into the depressions).

I want to apply Black Wow, but being more viscous, would there be a recommended method to apply it to this very textured area?

How do you post pics on here? HELP!

I got my M7 ultimate grills installed today! VERY SEXY. Worth every penny. The car looks much sportier and very black since the car is JB to start with. Now just the headlamp rings by Lyle and Im good to go! Got $80 knocked off the install cost too.

Thanks!

Yeah, those Gram Lights are really nice, but ~$200 more per wheel.

yah, especially on a dd i too use economy wheels and replace them every
now and then rather than buying one nice expensive set and watching it
deteriorate over time (and bend over potholes. )

hey, got my tracking# for my FitS's steering wheel hub and spacers!
hope to see them in a few days.

Ever feel like you are being ignored?
I can just copy and paste if the picture is on the internet like one of my Flickr photos. If there is something on my computer then I usually move it to Flickr and then copy & paste. There is a link picture icon in the tool bar when composing a message (the one with a mountain & sun/moon) so you can place an http:// address and just link.

A sponge whith the proper "springiness" to it so that it rubs into the pits of the grill? I am trying to think of a good way to do this without having to poke something into each pit one at a time as with q-tips.

i would mask the area, use a paint brush and brush it on.

then wipe off excess with a MF or cotton towel.

Thanks for the suggestion. The only thing I wonder about is how 'cooperative' the BW would be with a paint brush. Can it/should it be diluted with some water? Otherwise, its gonna be pretty sticky for a paint brush, no?

What do you do, Ken?

yah, BW does not thin with water.

since i only motor my car on dry days, i mask using my towel
in real time and just spray Nero5050 on it and let it air dry.

i have the aero kit so the rear is only a decal.
