i can't seem to get rid of the left over salt stains off my FitS's
carpeting. the carpeting around the a/s floor mats..

the carpeting material is like EZ Felt...it's not a real carpet kind of
carpeting.

any recommendations? I tried Griot's Interior Cleaner, Carpet Cleaner,
just warm water... nothing seems to work. im to the point of just
dying it black.

Hmmm.... 303 Cleaner? That stuff is magic. Or oxyclean? Or DiDi7? Or white vinegar?

Clean with Vinegar and Water....Taken from ehow:

Step1 Mix 1 cup water and 1 cup vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray on salt stains. Let stand for 15 minutes.

Step2 Press a clean towel on the stain. When towel becomes saturated, repeat with another dry towel. Allow stained area to dry.

Step3 Inspect stain. If still visible, repeat Steps 1 and 2. It may be necessary to repeat this technique several times.

ok, so i followed the directions above and made the 50/50 mix of
white vinegar and tap water. sprayed the stained area liberally and
let it sit for 15min.. i kept adding more solution every 5min or so.

took a cotton towel and without rubbing it, just pressed firmly to
soak up the solution from the carpet. i repeated once more, followed
by water-only to remove the vinegar. i used about 7-8 cotton towels.

i got rid of the vinegar scent (wasn't that strong in the first place)
pretty much and letting it dry overnight. as far as i could see tonight,
the stain was gone... but who knows until it is completely dry.

will see tomorrow.

ken or chris woulda flipped out if they had been motoring with me on Sunday.... I dumped a whole big bag of trail mix in the car....

Drove around like that for a day before I got it vacuumed out. Now the car smells like fruits and nuts... kinda like this forum.... <rimshot>

just got back from motoring my MCS, was fun.

i checked the carpeting of my FitS. i am super happy to report
IT WORKED!!! car's interior smells like a british
potatochip hangout but will blow the a/c on today when i drive
the FitS around. should rid the smell. it's not too bad, just
some vinegary scent left...

the carpeting looks brand spankin' new again.

blimey blimey blimey... no eating inside the car!

Trail mix isn't so bad.. one time my mom got into my MINI with an ice cream cone. I cringed as I watched her hold it and attempt to put on her seatbelt. I ended up putting her seatbelt on for her because I didn't want ice cream all over the seatbelt, seat, etc.

All I have to say is that it's a good thing she was my mom.. cuz if it was my younger sister, she would've had to walk home.
