Must be summer, busy here
Got off the afternoon from work and tackling some of the tasks that built off in the 3 weeks since my last day off. Got about 2/3 of the front jungle mowed before the rains came. So I spent some time in the garage doing the interior of the Mini. Ahhh, clean. Amazing what a little Nero, Slick, Dyson, and Lexol will do
sounds good!
i tracked my package again and it's already at chicago customs this
early afternoon!
i think i'll have them in my hands by tomorrow... hopefully.
dohh! as i was checking it cleared customs.

[quote=kenchan;2330734]so any detailing plans for the weekend?

Basic wash for both MINIs.
Question. If BW does not mix with water, so you could spray it, I wonder if a cheap air brush could spray it.

i think the airbrush nozzle will get clogged or it will spit out?
it's pretty much the viscosity of hair shampoo...
with all this BW talk, i did re-BW the arches last night when i was
detailing the MCS.
i have to say, that kiwi foam pad is the bestest.

Still have water restrictions here... and Blimey is nasty... in the middle of my Koni FSD / Camber plate install now. Need a 22mm socket that I didn't know I was gonna need... gotta run to the store... will be done in 30 more minutes once I have the tool. Can't wait to drive it and feel the difference... have an alignment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon... after that, should be ROCKIN...
... I may be breakin the law and washing the car anyway before the weekend's over...

damn, Paul, if we had water restrictions here, I'm afraid I'd have to turn myself in and be locked away until the restriction was lifted. Either that, wait until I get caught, or let me OCDetailers disease cause me such emotional distress that I wind up in therapy.
why a guy 'working' on a car not havea simple 22mm socket is a mystery to me.
Yeah, yeah...
True, I didn't have a 22mm socket.
But I didn't need a simple 22mm socket.
I needed a 22mm Hazat pass-through socket for my Koni struts. Cause the 13/16 spark plug socket I had planned to use which fit my OEM strut nuts won't fit the Koni 22mm nuts...
So I bought a 22mm deep socket at Northern Tool for $3 and cut it out to make my own...
BTW, your tip from a few years ago to loosen the front strut nuts while still on the car was a huge help. But didn't eliminate the need to be able to torque the new struts...
Just finished my test drive. Observations:
1) Some folks had led me to believe that I'd lose a lot of road feel with the FSDs. Not true. I still have PLENTY of road feel... it's just not as harsh.
2) The FSDs don't make the ride "cushy" at all... just take the "edge" of the sharp bumps a bit. I'm optimistic that this will make a big difference the next time I drive on the rough expansion joint section of interstate I frequent (but not near here, so I haven't tested that theory yet.
3) Between the added camber up front and the FSDs (but I suspect mostly the camber), the car has MUCH more front cornering grip. And it was pretty fantastic before. Now it's downright spooky.
Can't wait to get my toe and rear camber dialed in on Tuesday. Then it should handle like da shitz.
And get my injectors, RMW cam and RMW tune done in 3 weeks... OMG OMG OMG OMG that's gonna rock... And that will conclude this $2000 "spurt" of mods... until something else comes along...

you can probably tighten it using regular 22mm sockets, drop a
hex through the 1/2 drive hole and just spin the socket with channel-locks.
that's how i did mine (not koni's) but should be about the same.
Yeah, probably so... but I wanted to be able to torque it correctly... and it was more fun slicing up the socket with my air cutter...
It's REALLY a mod when you have to MAKE at tool...

Clara and I just had an in-the-dark, DIY washbay adventure
(roadtripping, we're currently in Topeka for the night)
I washed something like 50 pounds of bugs off. It was so gross. Rinse, let them soak and soften up a little...rinse again to get off whatever would come off...then I squired Mystique all over the car (no bucket)...added another little rinse, soaped it around with my MF pad YAY all the bugs came off...rinsed, Hydroed...shiny MINI
Not perfect, but to just get bugged up again tomorrow (and for doing it in the dark), good enough.

So we were at the airport and we got selected for the random vehicle check. After the officer opened up Geoffrey's boot and did his search I was tempted to yell out "Please shut the hatch by holding the boot handle!" But I resisted the urge (I don't exactly want to be thrown into jail).. and the officer shut the hatch by putting his hand on the paint, leaving his fingerprints on Geoffrey's bum.
