Must be summer, busy here
I usually do Amigo by machine, and Epic by hand. I don't see the big benefit of doing Epic by machine, personally.... a few drops at a time on a skinny applicator, and I can do the whole car in 5 minutes... over-application hasn't been a problem for me.
before pulling out my MCS this morning i looked at the amigo apped
rear bumper in the morning sun. it's a difficult test.
nnnnnn.... honestly speaking it's only marginally better. and most
of that could be from Best of Show cause it has a lot of filling capabilities
too.
im not sure if im complete sold on the product. it looked good under
artificial light but under the morning sun it's a difficult test to pass.
if by percentage, i would give it maybe 5% improved vs non-amigo'ed
app. i think Hydro does a better job hiding light swirls (not that i use
Hydro on my hobby cars).
maybe i'll just use it on my commuters mainly.

Since I usually only do Amigo by machine, hard to say for me... and I don't rely on it to really hide significant swirls, but to get the "glaze" look (which you really only get by machine)...
Yeah, Chuck, mine gets VERY warm. Not so hot that I can't hold it though.
I had to break out my shop glove. Prior to last weekend it would get warm, but not hot. Must be time for a lube change and tune-up. It probably has over a 1,000 hours on it by now.
glaze even by hand. but it's not enough to hide it from the sun.
Thats why when ever I apply I Amigo by had I still work it around a little bit. You arent going to be getting anywhere close to the most you can out of it without working it at least a little bit.
I did something very bad today. For whatever reason my hose did not have the nozzle on it when I went to wash the MINI. I just shrugged it off and washed the car anyway. While I was hosing down part of the back side panel I accidentally brushed the paint with the naked hose end. Got a scratch for that. (slap on the wrist).
You think I'd know by now... gotta learn sometime.
I just realized that my post above is no longer valid because of this!

Here is how I see it;
The products we use on our cars are like sanding and finishing wood. You start with a course abrasive, like 60 grit paper(DP Cut) then you move up to 120 grit paper(DP Swirl) then 220 grit(DP Finish) then 400 grit(DP Amigo) then you move on to the finish(DP Epic)
If you use a fine abrasive at the start on wood, like on an imperfect car paint surface, you are not getting down deep enough into the surface to remove imperfections, your just working the upper parts of the imperfections, wood or car paint.
So you need to use the most aggressive product necessary to remove the imperfection. With car finishes, the best way to get there is to work from lest aggressive to most, as you don't want to unnecessarily work the paint/clear coat.
I have been sanding, finishing wood for over 30 years, and the concepts, techniques and procedures are very similar.

lotsie- i am aware amigo cleans and fills very light swirls but does
not polish. this is why i bought the product because i dont want to
polish my rear bumper too much more; ive already removed quite a bit
of clearcoat in the past while polishing. it looks great in low light as
most cars do. but in the sun the amount of filling amigo does is only
comparable to what a typical wax can do from my findings. in fact,
i think Hydro does a better job hiding swirls.
this is why im not really thrilled about the outcome. it's like extra work
for a very minor improvement. my expectations were much higher per
the readings. that's all.

Side by side of hydro and amigo by OG. Ken you actually posted in this thread.
