Must be summer, busy here
Does anyone have a remedy for heavy wax residue?
My first coat of BW did not do much to get rid of it or hide it. Im going to put another coat on when the weather gets better. We'll see.

You can remove wax with a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol mixed in a spray bottle. It will remove the wax, then you can treat with BW.
It's better to apply BW before you wax to prevent wax from getting on to black trim.

Thanks. Yeah I know but the wax got on the trim 2 years ago when I was a detailing newb. Now I know what Im doing more or less so Im trying to correct my silly mistakes.
I thought of the alcohol method but I heard that it can dry out the plastic. A 50/50 mix sounds like it wouldn't be too harmful.

Barely 10:00 and I've already washed and Hydro'd two MINIs. The other was under the car cover all week except for a nice, topless motoring trip to pick up some dinner last evening... just QD'd it.
Now, if the back muscles don't scream at me too much here in the next hour, I'm going to put my CR Cooper up on stands and paint the calipers.
Sunday... the day of worship and rest.
And hey, where's Heather ?? Why still no Banana Gloss for sale on her website ?? Hmmmmmm... too busy developing the next product, I bet.

the hotter it gets outside the earlier i go motoring and come back.
it was 70F already at 6:30am today when i pulled out my G. when i
got back it was only 72F, but i could feel the sun coming down pretty
hard.
QD'ed and Clarity'ed.
motoring was fun, car looks
great.
going to rotate the front tires later on today and pull her out for a
quick spin to re-torque the lugs.
then Slick the wheels and
dust the interior.
oh yah, my G reached 20K miles today.

It's a wax but one that has some carnuba in it to add some deepness to the shine. It'll be especially great for dark colors (like CR and JB).
It doesn't have a long life, like Epic, so you'll want to apply it over top of the Epic, about every two months.
Okay... got the calipers painted and they're curing. While I had the wheels off, gave them a good scrubbing on the back side.
I'm tired and my back hurts. But it'll be worth it.

OK, I'm done working in the gardens, now it's time to wash/wax/swap some wheels, then clay/Amigo/Banana Gas Poco's roof. I have some of the test product left to get his roof done.
I need more BG

got the front wheels rotated on my G and took a quick test drive to
check noise and vibration. found no prob.
while the wheel was off the car, i inspected for any leaks and checked
the joints, etc.
i like how clean her underside is.
re-torqued the lugs.

Went by Harbor Freight today and got this:

and this:

Wifey's Town & Country had a check engine light from an evaporative system leak (possibly loose fuel cap). I was going to clear with my ScanGaugeII, but for some reason I can't get the ScanGauge to sync with the T&C.
Baffled the folks at LinearLogic also. And the folks at AutoZone will read the codes, but won't clear them. WTF....
So the new HF scan tool worked great, read the codes in plain english, and let me clear them. No more CEL. Yeah. This is a nice little fairly inexpensive code scanner...
And ken was right - the infrared thermometers are addictive.... I was running around measuring the temperature of EVERYTHING in sight.... I got it both to check temps on various car parts, and also to check tire temps for proper inflation and alignment guidance. Pretty cool.

I also bought some stuff for the MINI today. I was not planning on buying anything until the spring but ALTA was having a 10% off sale so I picked up a 15% and 539 belt, and some colder NGK's from JSCspeed. Probably won't get them installed for a few months though.

lotsie-
yah, those IR thermometers are cool. reflective things like mirrors or chrome cause that laser can bounce off and hit your eyes.
