Must be summer, busy here
Looks like he's getting ready to take a foul shot.
You're a brave man, motoring on white wheels. You don't have the OEM pads, do you ?

The Cabrio wheels

So I mounted the wheels on the Cabrio, took it for a quick spin around the block, reset the tire monitor, and was rechecking the torque on the bolts, and one of them snapped off

. The torque wrench was set at 90 lbs, and all the rest off the bolts were fine
Lois is going to have to go to the garage just down the street, like 500 feet, in the morning and get the broken bolt backed out. I have another whole set, so won't have to get another one.
Seems kind of weird it would snap before the wrench clicked

I know, probably not even 90lbs, as the wrench was still moving, and snap. I checked the wrench on other bolts that had been set, and it worked properly, even undid a couple and re-torqued them with no issues.
I think it had been stressed by a tire jockey with an air ratchet, probably set way to high. I seem to remember when I swapped the wheels last fall I had to stand on the breaker bar to get the bolts loose.
Plus they had not used any anti-seize on the wheels, so I had to pound them off with a 2x4

nice job on cleaning the wheels!
i think your dealer over torqued it at one time or another. my local
MINI dealer put at least 200lbs/ft on mine when they did the a/c
repair.
not only did they FAIL in fixing the a/c problem, they
kingkong torqued my lugs on my front passenger wheel.
i had to take my 18" breaker bar and literally bounce on it to get
them loose.
i should proably get new lugs pretty soon
and just replace them all.
you can probably just remove the wheel and use an extractor
and remove the broken lug in the hub?

I really like those OEM wheels, and the painted calipers show nicely with them. I have the S-Lites on the convertible and you can barely see the red calipers through the spokes. Might be a good excuse for a nice set of aftermarket wheels.

. I need to stay on top of keeping them clean
Yeah, I'm sure they were over tightened, and it stressed it. I don't have an extractor, so Lois will have to take it to the local shop in the morning.
Lois has read these posts, so an extractor set is now on my list

nono, you're suppose to pretend and write it up on the to-buy list...along with new piloti's and driving gloves.
Thanks! I posted a couple more pics in the 'Show me your wheels' thread.
Yeah, looks like that, doesn't it?
I do still have the oem brake pads and it is a daily routine to keep them clean.
Will probably change them soon though.
so during this morning's drive on my MCS, i did not hear the
high pitched sound...
my window was open and even
searched for that sound while i drove next to the
median...
wth...
these inconsistencies are so consistent on this car.
you never know what tomorrow brings.

it says fills light surface imperfections while prepping the paint for the application of a SYNTHETIC WAX.
guess it wont work with my Best of Show (carnauba) then?
guess it's going in the trash.
another funny thing was it came with those protective seals for the
cap, yet the entire lidcap thingie spins off without any protective
seal.
lol
the griot's bottles have protective seals on the bottle neck, not the
cap which makes it a true seal until you open it.
