Must be summer, busy here
wheew, just got done washing both dd's. i love my new Hydro bottle!

for doing touchup and small areas the Prima bottle is great, but
for doing an entire car... SO MUCH FASTER using the Griot's bottle.

so im going to break 1hr with lunch somewhere and start on my painting
project this afternoon.

yah, it was kinda windy here too.... plus my cans of paint lost pressure
and had to redo it twice.
in the middle of doing one of the hubs
i had to go to autozone cause my engine enamel crapped out on me.
anyway, finally got everything back together and here's wat i did...
still haven't done the legacy yet (put my mesh wheels on).
fog surround piece to black:

wheel hub to black:

final pict... yah, picts are pretty bad.

here's wat it looked like before the fog surrounds were painted...and you
can also see the rust in the hubs...

Nice, looks good! Small changes made a big difference.
We just had a good wash today. I mean a GOOD wash, I even scrubbed the tires with rubber cleaner, which I don't think I'd done to the new tires yet. The only thing I didn't do was the backs of the wheels and the wheel wells...both of which really need it. Next weekend.

i have some of that RubberCleaner from griot's but was kinda hesitant
to use it since it might do something to the finish of the wheels.

i used it a few times to remove old dressing off my OE wheels/tires
and it was fine... cleaning the back of wheels and wheel wells is a lot
of determination.
thanks!
my pops is into gardening and he didn't have fountains or ponds, but
he had like bolder rocks and all sorts of different bushes, flowers, etc.
etc. i dreaded sunday mornings when i was a teen cause he'd call me
to help.
i think he made me do it so often that i hate gardening now.
he's retired and has a farm in the backyard.
hope your MINI gets some experience with Hydro soon.

so, my legacy is now running its summer mesh wheels.
bringingthe wheels from the basement was a pita.
Lets see, I gave the lawn a hair cut, then my Brother-in-law came over, we loaded/changed a few things on the new laptop, then we started the whole wash/clay/Black Wow/Amigo/Epic treatment to his PW/B. While he was doing that, I got my wheels cleaned/waxed/rotated, then wash/Hydro both our MINIs.

My car just got dirtier this weekend. No time to clean - too busy doing pre-MOTD mods (installed my 150db train horn - woo hoo!)...
Well, I DID vacuum it extremely well while I had the seats out...
Then I drove 400 miles tonight.... afraid to look at it in the morning... there will be 1000 bugs on there...

so today is my last of the series of long weekends ive been taking
this month.
will need to go back to work tomorrow. i think
my bb's going to explode with so many emails in there.
anyway... today im planning to first re-check my psi on the dd's and
then pull out my MCS for some motoring.
given that the new bonnet stripes are completely dry (not sure yet),
im going to wash him and give him a clay treatment along with a nice
coat of BofS.
i might need to do some spot polishing with my
RO...like the rear bumper.
if the stripes are still damp, im going to just do a SprayOn wax app
less the bonnet, just do a quick mist of distilled water wipe down.

thanks, scurves.
so it was getting pretty warm real quick outside so i decided to just
QD my MCS, clay/polish the boot and wax. turned out superb.
i compared the depth and luster of BofS next to my black Legacy that's
wearing Hydro-only. Hydro is definitely close to carnauba luster.
probably the closest you'll ever get. (that and Epic).

yah, the issue was originally i was going to paint it graphite using some
plastic model enamel paint and just clear coat it...only to find the pressure
inside the can drop too much that it started to spit out the paint.
so i pulled out my flat black automotive paint and painted one directly
over the factory paint, the other over the graphite, finishing off with
semi-gloss automotive clearcoat.
the thermal expansion was different between the two paints causing it to
crack.
honestly, i was kinda expecting it cause the graphite had
gloss in it.
i took some 200grit and sanded most of it off, then took some thinner
and wiped off the graphite paint completely off. then sanded 400grit,
tacktoweled, automotive flat black, and semi-gloss over it. it's dry to
the touch now and back on the car.
so, dont use plastic model paint under automotive paint.

Yeah, I agree with you. I havent Cleaned my car for over 10 days now sense applying epic. It has rained every day, and still, from over 5 feet, it looks very clean. I just dont get it! haha. Before I leave on my next trip, I hope to get the car washed, and then going to use some Spray-On Wax on the wheels and some Hydro on the paint.
I do not know how I missed this! haha

shine is about the level of SprayOn wax, but it doesn't wear away.
You might want to use Hydro over your wheels as it goes through
heat cycles. SprayOn wax seems to wear off faster when it gets
heated and then washed by rain or shampoo for that matter.
SprayOn wax works best on cars that are dry or run in light rain, but
heavy rain it just washes off. on the otherhand, Hydro stays on even
after heavy rain.
it comes down to if you want appearance or if you want durability with
slight compromise on appearance.
Well that makes sense. I cant wait to have a garage again and a DD. I realized how long I had been gone when I was thinking the FitS was the brand on your new wheels, come to find out its a new DD.
