Haha, yeah I noticed all the paint peeling and flaking around the edges....it COULD have been such a nice car, lol.
Quick question. I am about to order the stuff to polish out my MINI and a couple other cars. I am using Griots polish but I plan to use Amigo and Epic after the actual polishing.
Applying Amigo by hand on one car is pretty easy, but it is tough to do it on three, so I need to know which pad I should use as Amigo is kinda a go between. Should I use the red pad or an orange pad? I have been leaning towards the red because Amigo is generally considered non abrasive.
PS: Yes, I realize mixing systems is general frowned upon, but this is how it is working out
PPS. Dont tell me I should wax by machine, applying epic was so easy and lasted for close to 6 months when applied by hand.

Thats what I was thinking. Thanks!
BTW, super fast reply.
Edit: I think between Polish 3 and Amigo I should be able to get most of the swirls. It's gonna rock.

if you have black or dark colors i think it will help remove/hide the last
of the marring.
although Polish3 with orange pad is a pretty mild
setup especially when you breakdown polish3 all the way until it's dry
though. on my IB i dont use any glaze and just go straight to Best of Show
after polish3.

Well, I have a HB, but I like the extra depth that the Amigo adds. Its no carnuba but I think it really helped the look last time I uses it. I am kinda banking on the fact that if I cant get something on the first pass with Polish 3 I can hit a second time (just for trouble spots). I am real cheap, so if I can avoid having to buy another level of polish and pad I will do it like this.
I know I can get everything on my MINI with this, but it will be interesting to see how the combo works on some of the scratching on my Moms GMC Yukon, which has some deepish clearcoat scratches/marring from off roading. Again I think repetition will get the job done. It only has a few problem areas, so hitting them 2 or maybe even 3 times shouldnt be too bad. I even noticed an improvement simply claying the areas, so they cant be to bad.
Thats the plan at least. Although I suppose it is a lot of extra work just to avoid spending an extra $30. Not to mention I am getting paid to do the work...

Amigo cures (most) all ills!
With the Lake Country / Prima system pads, I use a white pad with Amigo... which is soft, though not the softest (black is)... The white pad still has a bit of "body" to it... the black pad is just foam-rubber-soft..... not sure how that translates to Megs pads...

isn't the often unheard of blue LC pad the softest. i also use the set up with the white LC pad which is pretty close to your griot's Red Pad.
if you're so cheap how come you have so many products?
i hope the results are outstanding. lets see some "show off" when you're done.

Yup.
Being cheap is why I have money in the bank right now. I usually spend $100-$150 or so on detailing stuff in the beginning of the season and that generally lasts the whole way through.
You bet there will be pictures!

Did you listen to Car Talk last weekend? There was this guy who wanted to surprise his girlfriend by washing her car. He used one of those squeeze sponge mops
on her car. He "scrubbed real hard" and managed to put a big gouge in her ride. He didn't mention what soap he used, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Tide.

Think I'll stick with my Borax with chunks of real basalt for deep cleansing power (on a microfiber mitt of course).
