The club run was lots of fun yesterday, great roads, and we had about 25 MINIs take part.

Decided to not go to the European car show today, we don't feel like wandering around a hot parking lot. Going to spend the day puttering around the yard, bathing both MINIs.

Yeah, it was hot as usual. But not as hot as previous years.

There were only about half a dozen Minis, so we did not have the minimum of 10 required for a 'best of Mini,' but ....

Mick Keenoy's classic won Best In Show !

I will post pictures soon ...

so after washing my legacy this is wat i frikken find. this is a
7" crease double wammy...meaning, there are 2 frikken creases less than
5mm apart. the **** hit, and then pushed his/her door on my car!

wife used the car last night to go to some show with her dad. i know
there was no ding prior to that.

the metal is distorted, my tool would not fit completely on the side closest
to the door handle because there is some obstruction there. only could
fix it to about 90%.

took a long time cause i had to bend the metal quite a bit convex to
try to push out the adjacent area where i couldnt get my tool under.
the metal was stretched quite a bit too. subaru uses POS thin metal.
knocked it down and wet sanded 2000grit. Griot's Polish3, Prima Hydro.

before..

after.. most people wont be able to tell unless they were looking for it.

here's another pict form the other side.. the reflection of the bricks
look straight so it appears pretty good.

this is why i have dd's.

wow, Ken, if you ever decide to leave your current job, you have a future as a PDR guy !

Sucks that someone did that and then didn't even bother to leave their contact info. But yeah, if those pics are a good respresentation, I can't even tell where the damage was.

Got out early this AM and washed/Hydro'd Blimey before work... too hot this week to do it after work, and didn't get done yesterday... lookin good...

By the way, when is Mystique NOT a good thing?

When it's oozing around in the bottom of your detailing caddy...

Had a tiny bit left in a bottle - stored the bottle upside down in my caddy to drain into the cap so I could use the last of it next wash. Well, something bumped it at some point and clicked the cap open... and it all drained out... we're only talking a tablespoon or two... but that side of my caddy had my detailing brushes in it (the little horsehair and boars hair ones)... argh..... fun washing evaporated, concentrated Mystique out of your brushes...

Nobody's fault but my own...

Yikes, Blimey, a Mistique Mess up... at least your caddy will be shiny clean now.

Put on the coat of Amigo with the PC this morning. Tomorrow... Epic. Making this a 4-day project to save a trip to the ER for my back.

thanks, greengoblin.

using the glue puller i pulled out the metal that i couldn't get to last night.
knocked it down a little, looks pretty good. ran out of time so will finish off
tonight when i get home.

thing i dont like about glue pullers is that even with the smallest puller it
pulls the 'general location' of the ding at about 8-9mm in diameter where
as regular PDR tools i can aim and push within 1mm x 1mm.

blimey- yikes i hate it when that happens.

i just noticed my bottle of white vinegar my wife got is the same bottle
as my Prima gallons. DP might want to reconsider getting better
looking bottles.

Thanks!

That's Black Wow and Zaino oh and Hydro on the wheels. The MINI is close to 5 years old, daily driver, never been polished. I have a lot of nicks on the front of the car that I need to work on this summer. The windshield is pretty pitted too.

I had my three toy cars on the roof; it was fun watching the parents pick up their kids to point out the toys on the roof

Nice ending to the day when the Mini won best in show!
