Party is over. Guests left early 'cause daughter still has school tomorrow. Had lots of wine

Well, the MINI surivived the trip downtown. Not much water left on the roads and it didn't rain on the way home

So, the MINI is still spick and span!

I may change the oil today. Let's hope that has a happy ending too.

Okay, going to try THIS....

Meet the Koldfront 8000 BTU Designer Portable Air Conditioner (model PAC8000S), an ultra compact portable air conditioner that delivers a frigid blast of cold air and fits in almost any space. This compact unit is capable of cooling up to a 250 square foot room and offers a three speed fan function and a dehumidifying function in addition to the air conditioner function.

...to try to alleviate the heat in the master bedroom that I was talking about a couple days ago. It has an exhaust hose that you place in the window, so instead of a big, ugly unit hanging out the front of the house, this will hopefully be hardly noticeable. And it doesn't have to work hard because it's supplementing the central a/c.

We'll see how it works. It was only $300 and has a high customer rating, so seems like a good bet.

if it's energy efficient, that would be very cool.

do those things require like a hose for water drippage? or do they have
like a bucket like on my dehumidifier?

This one is only 8,000 BTUs... shouldn't suck too much electricity.

Some of them do require you to dump water once a day or so. Some of them have an outlet hose. This one has an auto evaporation feature.

Seems if it evaporates the water you have defeated the purpose of a dehumidifier, no? Unless it goes out the hose along with the hot air.
You know a block of ice and a fan always worked for us on the farm - cheaper too.

Not sure how that auto evaporation system works, Chuck. But the item description says you can set it for AC only, dehumidifier only, or both.

Here's a list of some of the specs:

Patented Auto-Drain condensate system means there are no water trays or buckets that must be emptied except under very extreme humidity & low temperature circumstances
3 fan speeds
Watts cooling - 800
Easy grip handles and casters for mobility
Remote control
Window kit included
Dehumidifies for personal comfort

Or, in this case, my master bedroom.

My other half has been pretty accomodating with my designing of the garage, but I think she would put her foot down if I did the new air conditioner for the bedroom in Chili Red with checkered stripes.
