Must be summer, busy here
Nah, I've used one, I'll keep that one to use until my mitts come in, but seriously, you can have the other one. I'm just not sure it would be worth the cost of shipping to send it to you.
or you can just cut it in half and use it....

don't those waffle pockets get into the way when drying? meaning
it's all nice when your hands are in there but when you do a quick
wipe doesnt that pocket catch the body panels, wiper blades, etc?
plus, we should not be WIPING but blot drying our MINI's!

going to try out my griot's water hose today.
can't wait.
going to motor my G first though.

I can't make the run, but see you guys at the show tomorrow.
lotsie- have fun out there!
this morning i was morning my G and while i was passing some construction
area with concrete mixers dispensing their blobs of concrete into the road
i hear like 30-40 little taping noises all over my car.
then i was
like
shcit, it better not've been concrete that showered onto my
car?!!
and floored to get home to check out the "damage."
well, luckily it was just dirt..maybe 30 little spots all over my car. wheew...
for this i used Slick instead of SpeedShine as i wanted the extra lifting and
lube.
man was i relieved.

Oy... concrete would have been nasty !
Hey... I stopped by a local auto parts store the other day to get some new clay. They were out of Mother's and Meguiar's, so I tried this brand I never heard of before, called "Clay Magic".
It's really good and stiff and easy to work with. Does a great job, too, because it's nice and fine textured. Only took me 45 minutes to clay an entire MINI this morning.
Off I go to do some taping now.
I hate taping.

Wipe... blot... I use a combo of both. I never get it dry enough by just blotting. Hey, I'm not trying to go five years between polishing with the buffer !
Blimey, I've been using the Clay Magic since day 1 so it's the only one I've tried. Is the DP Clay any better?
Dunno, really... haven't used the DP clay enough yet to have a strong opinion. For me, it seems that either clay works well, or it doesn't. So far, both Clay Magic and DP clays seem to work well...
but you are the Ken of Amigo... no?
yah, some those construction folks are very careless. in not surprised
why they injure themselves.
hummm... yah that's a good point about pulling out the RO on occassion.

The only thing I've ever had get caught on one of those pickets is the license plate. Everything else on the MINI is either too small to get caught or at a good angle.

6 black washers you see in the pict into the 6 screws.

Also got half of the detailing done. Washed, clayed, taped, and Swirled. Just gotta hit it with the Amigo and then the Epic and all done.
Before I start a complete detailing job I want to be sure I have the right stuff. I may need to make another DP Order before I do a complete detailing job on Molly.

I used Griot's Engine Degreaser and an assortment of stiff brushes. I have always been apprehensive to do it but it's no big deal. I used aluminum foil to cover the alternator and the two cowl wells and then used the Mr. Clean Auto Dry on the "mist" setting to dampen everything, sprayed the Engine Degreaser on, let it sit a few minutes, brushed around a little, and rinshed with the Mr. Clean on "mist" again. Then I repeated
The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes.

But ... there are some differences between them - that the various mild clays may require more or less effort to achieve the proper result. So, I spent a little more and bought the "professional blue mild" McGuires clay, to reduce the time I spend to get the job done. I've done 2 MINIs already, and we just did my buddies old beater Nissan Altima - wow! You wouldn't believe what came off that car.
Well you could pull a "Trenton NJ idiot special". In the parking lot yesterday outside Autozone here, this dude had his hood open and used like 2-3 full cans worth of engine degreaser all over his engine compartment, under the hood and ... all over the front and forward quarter panels! I did the a solid and let him know that it just *might* be a good idea for him to get a carwash post-haste to get that stuff off his paint. Dude was like "wow - that's a great idea - thanks". Sigh.
