Greetings, fellow motorers
I am quite interested in seeing the wait time from when your MINI hits the US shore to when your car is available at the dealer. I'm starting to get a little nervous

The wait at the VPC varies. ASKMINI will tell you the average is 4-7 days. Well, I'm on day 13 and I don't have my car yet. My dealership is only 2 hours away from the Port Bayonne, NJ. Another car, on the same boat as mine, through the same dealer, is already at the dealer. Try and figure that out.
It's truly a "wait and see" situation. The factors that effect the processing are current loads coming in, existing backlog, weather, problems with vehicle, and whenyour vehicle actually come off the boat. I have a feeling mine was first on and last off the boat.
No advice for you, but to just relax and wait to see what happens. Oh, and pray.

I am not sure why Motor'nMAX did not make the Tosca. He was waitlisted all along though. He is booked on the Jingu Maru for a 3/31 departure now. This is kinda of a bummer since I am going on vacation 4/14 and was really hoping it would move fast through vdc and I could have it by then. Oh well.
On the good side, I read on the Cruise Critic that the Tosca was a little stuffy with a rather old average age for their cruises (the food is supposed to be excellent though.) The Jingu Maru on the other hand was named the party boat of the centurty.
Regards,

Congrats to the TOSCA sailors!!!!
Par4,
We are now Jingu Maru bound...sounds like a great ship, tres tropical. Hope the boys don't get too wild during the big floor show!
Maybe we'll make up the extra couple days by speeding through the vdc...
Always hoping for the best!

I did a crude calculation a week ago or so...
It's about 20 days from "loaded on vessel" to "at dealership" for the people quasi-nearby New York (aka, new england, midwest, east coast) This means the Carmen-MINI's should be delivered around April 7th, and the Tosca a few days later. I hope this spashes your quench!
have a great day,

Ryan,
Thanks for the estimate on east coast deliveries. I would love to get my MCS by April 7. I'll be curious what the OL says tomorrow when it is updated. This past week it showed an estimated delivery date of yesterday.
Has anyone called ASKMINI to see if they show us at the VPC or do they not even tell us that anymore?

MINIUSA OL still shows me enroute, and not yet at VDC, but we all know that's not true. They do still have my EDD as 4/7/03, so I'm hopeful. Also a little anxious about getting the Durango sold in time, but que sera sera.
Haven't gotten an email from my MA or MINI asking how I'd like my options set. I may give it a few days yet, and then send him one anyway with what I'd like. Here is what I'm thinking.
CAR & KEY MEMORY M32.0
Central Locking
--------------------------------------------
Automatic locking after starting off (active)
Automatic unlocking after engine off (active)
Selective central locking (active)
Selective CL RC (active)
Holding RC open button (comfort opening)
Window Regulator/slide/tilt/sunroof
--------------------------------------------
Convenient opening lock (active)
Lighting
--------------------------------------------
External lights
Daytime Driving Light (not active)
Home Lights (90s)
Windscreen wipers
--------------------------------------------
Switch back when stationary (active)
Acoustic Warnings
--------------------------------------------
Fuel Warning (active)
Displays/Language
--------------------------------------------
Units
Temperature (degrees f)
I also want to let him know to make sure NOT to stick any dealership stickers on the car and not to drill the front bumper to attach the front license plate bracket. Anything I missed?

I just called askmini again and this time they informed me that their new system will only get updated through the date it gets to port of exit....from there out the dealers are now suppose to have the rest of the info and tracking available through them...so will have to try the dealer now.
Just talked to my MA and the dealerships can find out when your car is released from VPC and the estimated arrival date to get from vpc to the dealership. He did mention that VPC is fairly backed up right now so not sure how quick we will get through.
Anyone else that was on the carmen have an update as far as getting through vpc? I'm scheduled to be released from VPC on the 1st of april which could make it close for the 5th....if not then I'll have to wait tillthe 15th which I don't want to of course

I had my MINI for about 4 days or sobefore OL updated it to AT THE DEALER, and a little over a week before they took me to the next stage where you can upload photos...

If I read your specs right, you're getting a MC, in which case, they DO NOT drill into the front bumber. There is a slot for a euro plate, but they put in a holder that matches your car color with the us-plate holder onto that. So the MINI won't be damged. the drilling applies only to MCS' and maybe MCs with aero kits. However, if you want a euro plate, or no front plate, than you can probably get them not to put the plate holder on (depending on state laws, of course)
I've got a MC, and the front plate doesn't look bad.

Stopped calling them the day they said my car was at the dock, but really had sailed on the Carmen two days before.
As far as the OL goes, it's really cute marketing, but not a source for updates IMHO!

MiniSail, I don't think very many dealerships really do email you the programable options list. However, I did write to my MA this week, informing him of the option's I'd like programmed, and he actually thanked me for doing so.
Can anyone confirm what Wags said about MC's not getting holes drilled into the front? I've only heard that some dealer's offer the plate holder, and some go ahead and drill holes anyway. I've also heard that they do the drilling at the VPC, not the dealership, so if you take delivery in a state that requires front plates, they drill the holes weather we all like it or not!
deMatta, I have to welcome you to the officialMINI COOPER REALM OF DARKNESS!!!!!! Once your car hit's US soil, there's no telling who, what, when or where it is at any given moment. Example A.) My ship docked on the 14th(2 WEEKS AGO) and not only has it not made it to the dealer yet, but OL still say's I'll be taking delivery on 3/19!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WORST IS YET TO COME! Of course fallowed abruptly by the ABSOLUTE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
HWAA,HA,HA,HA,HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! (see, look at me, if you're not carefull you'll actually go crazy)

Well Folks, the time has come! BONZO is at the dealer! YEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!
I went and saw him before prep., which won't be done for another day or so. My MA is trying to get my MINI in asap so that I can have it this weekend. However, that means that the lights and stripes will get added later. Oh well, I can live without them for a few days. Plus they have a bunch of cars to process and they wouldn't get to installing the lights for a few days anyway. I am so psyched! Bonzo is very cool looking, even with all the plastic and card board. I can't wait to take him for a spin. So close.
Just as an FYI, end of the month seems to be a popular delivery time and the docks and dealers get hammered with cars. This explains the delays I had. May want to keep that in mind during your calculations of when your car will come in.
