Hello all,

Just checking in on the latest before I turn in...

If you haven't read the shameless fluff thread in the off-topic forum, you might want to. It is quite amusing (and sometimes obnoxious)...a great waste of an hour. I am constantly amazed at the humor and creativity displayed by MCO members. 2minis especially cracks me up! Our own ryephile and others make appearances as well...funny stuff!

I hope that all is well with you and your cars arrive soon if they haven't already. I actually started cleaning out my garage today for the first time in 3-4 years, hoping to have a "special something" to fill it in about 3 more weeks...

peace,

chef r

PS congrats to brgmini, couldn't think of a better birthday present (hope I don't have to wait til my birthday tho, then I'd be in the CWF July club

HI Everyone,

My wife and I just celebrated our 25th yesterday! Lots of fun, had about 120 or so over for an open house.

Now it's time to get ready for the next big event, the MINI arrival. I'm joining you Chef in cleaning out the garage. Maybe there is an outside chance that it will arrive by my birthday on the 13th.

I saw a webcam shot of a car transport going through the Panama canal yesterday. It looked like a WW ship, but didn't have the name on the side. I couldn't see the name of the ship. It was heading for the Pacific.

You can check out the webcam at Pancanal.com.

Have a great day all, and to those of you already motoring.
Be careful out there.

Andy

OOTSC - Ebbey came home yesterday afternoon. Just a couple of quick pics before Ebbey went into his garage. I'll post a couple more soon. The drive home was so much fun. I just love getting in the MINI & motoring. I've never driven a car like this one. I can't get over how cool it looks. My neighbors were instantly buzzing about it on their porch when I pulled up. Hang in there everyone. It's absolutely worth the wait............

Congrats for you and Ebbey. The car looks great. And remember, once in the April Club, always in the April Club. No 'OOTSC' for anyone here!

For what it's worth, the OL updated sometime over the weekend (or late Friday) to show that I'm now at the VPC. It did not change my delivery date estimate (last Wednesday ). I'm really hoping it gets here by the weekend - I'd love to go motoring this weekend. But Katie's long wait as well as so many others is making not very confident of getting it this weekend.

I agree brgmini! The Velvet Red looks much richer and upscale in person than the "grape" color of the Configurator! In fact, few of the colors on the Configuator are accurate, so it's kind-of a surprize when you MINI arrives!

Cheers,
Ryan

Yeah! I am offically, once and for all a member of the April Club. I'll be picking up the mini next friday, APRIL 4th!

A few last minute questions:
How necessary is a floor matt for the boot? I can't decide If it's actually practical or not.

Has anyone seem the chrome exhaust tip in person? I'm thinking it'll go nice with all my chrome details, but I don't want it if it's a different shape than the standard tip. Hehe, I want the beercan look, and the only pic I've seen makes the chrome tip appear to be wider at the mouth and the edge doesn't seem to have that lip anymore.

Wheel locks?

And finally, THE NAME. I'm getting really tired of haveing to refer to it as "It" or "The Car" or "My MINI" all the time. I won't settle on a name for sure untill I get to know "it" better, but I'm thinking as of now, girl: Piet (pronounced Pee-ett) or Boy: Jimmie Brown. Suggestions? Comments?

notice how all those smiles resemble the smile on the little red car in my sig

Ok, here's a question for our little brother (and sisterhood) of April MCOers relating to some of the OEM parts we are adding to our vehicles. Are you guys buying from the dealer that you got your car, in essence giving them some additional business and revenue, or are you going to other dealers (i.e. Classic Cooper) that have better prices for those same parts?

I'm torn, as my dealer seems to have done well by me, and I'd like to show some loyalty. But $$ is $$, and if I can save some money by shopping elsewhere, so be it. So far, I've gone to Classic for the Euro Shelf, where the savings was significant, but not sure who to get my floor mats, boot mat, chrome exhaust tip, etc. from.

What are you guys doing? Shelling out a little extra cash to support your local dealer? Or saving that cash for yourselves?

T J

Birdie, I sent you a PM regarding posting pics. Might be a good idea to copy what I said into this thread, to share the wealth

miniSail: Although my dealership has been great so far, I don't feel obligated to buy accessories from them. For MINI accessories, I'll go thru Classic.

Cheers,
Ryan
