We went with the yoko advan a032R's... should be interesting to feel the difference. I'm out of modding money for now, so I'm not sure that we'll get the harnesses in time for Lime Rock (June 8-90); maybe for Watkins Glen..

*and*... I'm SO excited! I got the new bumper installed this weekend! Yay! Naked mini now has no front plates or stripes, but at least both front directionals work!

... but sad since my mechanic thought that he was doing me a favor by washing my car while it was there. Swirl marks! I've got some work to do to correct that...

Not looking forward to changing the NAM calendar page to June. I was enjoying looking at Ryphile's ride all month. Sweet!

Anyway, what's up with the stock MC wheels on the MCS in the June calendar? Little more "give" at autocross?

regards,
Red

Hey 2003 April Clubbers...

Well...believe this or not...I'm selling her. But, I'm going to be ordering another MCS:smile: Going through the whole process again. I paid a click under $25000 in April '03, and have her listed for $22700. The new '06 is going to run about $26000. I owe about $12000 and plan to put whatever I clear as a down on the '06. How 'bout giving me some feedback on "16 all season versus "17 all seasons (I know that's a tire forum question...but wanted to keep this in the Club). "17 inches fills out the wheel well nicely. But is it worth it...versus a difference in ride performance? :impatient

How many miles? Selling it privately, I guess. How are you going to keep the folks that just want to "test drive" an MCS?
I smell clutch burning! Love to know what you get for it. Are you the first CWFAC member to sell?

My 03 is low mileage, but I may want to sell too, before the warranty is over. Especially if the resale is that good!

I have the 16" all seasons and they are fine. Check other threads, but I believe the 16s are better riding and can accelerate better because there is less mass. The 17s do fill out the wheel wells better, but the 16s look fine IMHO.

Good luck! Get an April delivery!

regards,
Red

Hey scoobs! Sorry to hear you're selling your '03, but I'm sure you'll enjoy your '06 My vote goes for the 17's, they look good but aren't too big to really destroy ride quality or risk too much pot-hole damage. Of course if you want to knock it out of the park you need 18"s and big lowering, but not everyone is willing to give up the ride quality and ground clearance [aka scraping everywhere, lol]

Red: glad to hear you haven't worn out your MINI

Cheers,
Ryan

Selling her....

I have 48800 miles on her...warranty is almost up. I considered purchasing an extended warranty for the next buyer...but quickly shot that down. I printed out a Direct Warranty quote on her and will present to the prospective owner if asked. I think I'll stay with the 17s (my brother would never let me live it down anyway).

Hey...how are the 17" all seasons in the snow/ice type stuff?

a week and a half until I'm married!

Car still running like a top... some irritations with the dealership that got my panties in a wad. Still have to take the car back and yell at them some more. Ah, well... what better use for bridezilla-dom?!

Can't keep street rubber on the car worth a darn. Probably less than 10k on the current Eagle F1's and I'm at the wear bars. Thinking about the new Toyo T1-R's, but haven't read a whole lot about them yet.

Whee!

The April club still lives:smile: Best wishes for your wedding Rachel. Have fun, and try not to get to stressed.

I have 33k miles and still running great. I just got my MTH files this morning. It will be fun to upload and see what difference it makes. I am getting my RA-1's very soon. Haven't been to the track since April. I'm signed up for Sept 30.

Good to hear from you all. Rock on April club

Not Selling

Hey April Clubbers:
Decided not to sell her after all. Instead, I'm treating her to new set of Rally lights and 4 all season Yokos. Just couldn't rationalize selling her...she's a great car. Any mechanical issues reported in the 'upper' mileages?

There are many reports of trouble free high mileage cars. I think the bugs work themselves out early on (I hope!).

Anyway, thanks for waking the club back up, and best of luck!

Red

I just clicked 40k this week at Watkins Glen.. can't really say that's high-mileage, but relatively few problems with my car for as hard as it's been used. It needed a clutch replacement 5k ago for a defective flywheel and a new axle after the monkeys at the dealership decided to use a hammer and not a torque wrench after replacing said flywheel (I'm sure most people wouldn't notice.. I'm sure they counted on that.. I'm sure they also got nailed for it in their service review).

Not nervous about the wedding, really, just amused. My fiance's turned into groom-zilla and doesn't seem to be coping terribly well.. ah, well... is it sad that we're going to consider a driving school at Mt. Tremblant a mini-honeymoon?

Mt Tremblant seems like a great honeymoon spot. Who gets to drive first?

Unfortunately, he gets to drive there first, as he's a pre-instructor candidate and gets to drive with the instructors before the national event.

I left my mark on the track there last year!

Are the plastic seat backs parts that just pop off to be replaced? Mine have taken a beating and I'd love to have them looking spiffy...

I saw some carbon fiber looking seat backs somewhere but I can't remember where.

my husband is still alive and I'm *actually* married! (or so they tell me.. I don't remember much of it).

For reference, Mini's are pretty controllable with a full tire blow-out at highway speeds... the inner sidewall on the passenger rear gave up yesterday. Should I share the pics?

Toyo T1-R's, here I come!

Good idea letting groomzilla live Show us a pic of the tire. What was it?

I just got my RA-1's mounted yesterday. Going to Thunderhill on the 30th, and then to Laguna Seca on Dec. 15th.

Had a nice visit with the Toyo rep who was at Infineon where I got the tires. The T1-R's are a very nice upgrade to the T1-S. He gave me a brochure on the "R'. Should be a good tire for you.

It was an eagle F1. Not sure what caused the failure yet. Ah, well... I was planning on getting the new set eventually. I'll get pics tonight and share those. They're more interesting than the wedding ones
