R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
Figured I'd join in the April thread, as ASK-MINI says that we're currently in the body shop and estimated completion date is tomorrow, April 4 2005. I posted specs in my 1st Gear thread, but here they are again:
DS/DS MCS
Chrome Line Exterior
Premium Package
Cold Weather Package
DSC
LSD
Front Fog Lamps
Gray Leatherette w/ Gray Doors
Chrome Line Interior
Anthracite Dash
Anthracite Headliner
H/K Sound
"S" Rubber Mats
JCW Tuning package
JCW Door Sills
Window Tint
Add to that 17" Kosei K1-TS wheels with 215/45/17 Avon Tech M 500's and we should be good for a little while...
Has anyone mentioned that waiting sucks?

Thanks queen and asodestrom! As of this morning the car is complete and booked at the dock. I had been nervous because prior to this the tracking on the WW site was turning up nothing, but magically this morning it was listed. We're booked on the Maersk Teal which is supposed to load on the 7th. Arrival at Charleston is listed as the 20th of April.
Things are moving forward.

woo hoo! and you are on the east coast- so you get to track AND a faster journey across the pond! congrats on the boat!
Absorbin_Sr - My car is also listed being loaded on the TEAL, arrival April 20th. My is being delivered to Classic in Mentor Ohio. I wonder how long it takes once it makes it to the US. I am leaving for vacation May 14th! Hopefully it will arrive before then!!

Had my brake fluid flushed this week, and another two seatbelt latches replaced because the SRS light still goes on.
They also replaced the wipers again (6 months) and billed BMW for a "belt tensioner". I somehow doubt they did that.........
Good luck to all of you new members. It's worth the wait, and just as much fun two years later!
regards,
Red
Arrggghhh......
Just noticed that ours got bumped from the Teal and is now waiting for the Takasago. Adding another week to the wait time.
Either that or our MINI is a tramp and just decided to wait for the next troop ship to get in.....

Hang in there A_Sr. The delays and the anticipation will make the arrival day even sweeter.
Next week is Birthday week
Monday will be my Mini's 2nd b-day. We are going to do the Stewarts Point Skaggs road run, the "Holy Grail" of the plethora of "Dragonesque" roads we enjoy in Northern California.

Wednesday is my birtdhay. I'm taking this old sack of bones on a 5 mile run, 1 mile for each decade, then it's off to Infineon to watch the Indy cars.
Let the fun begin

Happy Birthday Andy! Sounds like you have a great plan.
Not me.
Next week is Waldo's birthday (4/14/05).
Heading off to a meeting in Appleton, WI Sunday, and back to LGA on the 14th to greet my....company car (How do you think I keep the miles so low!). Not going to leave the MINI in an airport parking lot
.
Try to make up for it the next weekend. Better wear out the tires before they "age" out!

Red

So, maybe I'm blind and can't find the info here ... But I called ASK MINI today to find out what boat my MINI is on and they say they have no way of knowing once they release to the shipper. Is this true or did I get someone that doesn't know anything?
I haven't chimed into a build thread yet....so here I am.
My MCS is aboard the Maersk Teal. Hope I didn't bump you Absorbine

Where do the Minis get offloaded? Is it dependent on where in the country they go?
I noticed that someone asked earlier, but I didn't see a solid response.
Thanks,
-Jake

Well here are the pics of "Stealth" after she made it home!

Plush doesn't begin to describe how squishy the suspension is, sooooo, I just finished putting on a set of H-Sport springs! I believe this is the first cabrio with lowering springs? Here's a crusty night shot - it sits nice!

Motor-On!

I'm assuming you have the S-lites because you got the sport package, (I could be wrong because I know 0 about the MCSC) and the MCS that I drove wasnt "plush" at all....perhaps I'm missing something...
Looks great with the springs btw

The S-lites come with all MCS Sport Packages, however with the Cabrio you only get the S-lites with the all-season tires; you get the 17" 5-spoke "Bullets" with the summer/performance tires. On all MCS Sport packs, the new Web-spoke is a $500 extra option.
Also, the MCSc comes with the "sport suspension" (similar tuning to the base Cooper hatch) not the "sport suspension plus" like the hatchback MCS, which is why the hatchback MCS rides stiffer and firmer than the Cabrio. This may explain what you felt during your test drive.
Cheers,
Ryan
P.S. thanks for the thumbs up!
