Re-ordering wouldn't be that bad. At least you would be the resident expert on the process. You may even become a CWF*C manager. And also, reordering would be better than no MINI at all.

12 days ago my MINI hit US soil. My MA is picking up two cars just delivered. Maybe one is mine? Keeping my fingers crossed.

What's up with the Carmen. I'm confused by the two New York destinations. It arrived in NY yesterday and sailed for New York today. It leaves for Baltimore tomorrow. Is this some new security procedure that it had to check in somewhere yesterday and it is only getting to the NJ ports to offload our Minis today?

Given Birdie33's experience I know my Mini will arrive at my dealer the day a fly off for vacation in mid April.

Keeping track of our MINI's after the ship has landed has always been a tough task, and our experience seems to be no different. How frustrating

Here is an update although not much of one. My MINI has been at the dealership since last Saturday. I called the dealership last night and they're giving me an estimated pick up date of early next week. Well over a week since it arrived.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay at a dealership? Would like to hear if so. Granted we had a pretty big snow storm last week and maybe that is what has put them so far behind.

My MA is nice but details don't seem to be a big thing with him unfortunately. I hate to think of my MINI sitting outside during another snow storm instead of in my warm garage. Oh well. More waiting. Hopefully the other April MINI's are fairing better than I. Have a great day everyone!

The problem is that we have all been spoiled by ASKMINI. So, once the car hits the US we are out of touch and that just doesn't feel right to us. But, what can you do besides suck it up and wish a lot. A close friend ordered a Volvo SUV and they had no idea when the car was going to be built, shipped, or delivered. There was no communication until the day it was at the dealer. Let's be thankful for what he have/had.

Anyway.....my MA wrote me an email and said my car was not in yet. However, they have been getting cars frequently and it may be on it's way. Trying to stay positive. Really hoping to have the car for the weekend. In order for that to happen, the car has to come today or tomorrow morning at the latest. The techs don't work on Saturdays and the car needs to be prep'd, rally lights installed, and bonnet stripes stuck on. I'm sure there is a baglog at the dealership as well. They have been bombarded with cars over the last few days.

Keeping the faith.....

Birdie

You can catch my last post, but I would think the snow would have an impact. It also depends on what cars are being serviced, emergencies that happen, and other deliveries ahead of yours. Or maybe you made them angry and they want to see you wait. But, I wouldn't think that's the case.

I would be challenging your MA to give you more details. And as a consumer you have the right to the information.......so ask for it, if you're not already. Ask them:

1.) What's the delay? (Specifically: cars? weather? short staffed? what?)

2.) Is there a problem with my car?

I would also go see the car, if you haven't already. Feel free to put pressure on them. Make them explain to you why this delay makes sense and why they can't get you your car sooner. My MA says, generally it's within a day of receiving the car. But, it depends on the amount of cars they get and the work that the techs are doing. But, at least I get the details and I know the situation.

Challenge your MA.....bottom line.......they would do it to you if the roles were reversed.

My $.02

Birdie

Like Birdie, I too belive in things happening for a reason...

Last night was a doosy. Picked up our taxes and got hit with a tax bill (P!ss-Poor tax guy  ), signed re-fi loan docs that needed another obscene check for interest and property taxes. This along with going to Hawaii in two weeks and the issue of the wife's job, I couldn't make a really convincing argument to myself, let alone the wife, on letting me get the car.

I talked to the dealer last night, they will let me order another car in the April allocation so it looks like I'm going to be joining the July club. At least it is better than being put back on the end of the list.

Waiting for the reason,

Wastik

That's horrible to hear about your bad situation Wastik, I wish you the best!

Squigi: I think you need to march down to your dealership and b!tch slap them right now! I have no capacity for uncessesarily delaying ANYTHING, and as a future MA, I'm embarrassed that any MINI dealership would be so negligent in closing a deal!

Regards,
Ryan

Hey Birdie - I know I didn't **** off the MA. In fact he says I'm the nicest person he deals with and he wishes more people were like me so maybe that's the problem.......You're right - I'm probably not asking the tough questions. I know they're experiencing a backlog due to last week's blizzard so just bad timing. My life story

If I read the W-W site correctly, then Carmen has left NY. That means that all the MINIs due to get off there, should have been unloaded. Now, the W-W site doesn't indicate the cargo as unloaded yet, I'm hoping it's just a delay in updating web data. I'll keep you posted as the story progresses.

Like everyone has said, Wastik, better late than never in getting the mini. You will appreciate it even more (is that possible?) when the time does come. I hope things look up for you.

I haven't heard a peep from my MA. I think I'll give hima call and see what he knows...

How current has everybody found Wallenius Wilhelmsen Global Cargo Tracking to be? I am eagerly awaiting the departure of Tosca, which is scheduled for 3/26.

Thanks,

Wastik-sorry to hear about things. I guarantee your timing will pay off for you in some way. Your guys are in my prayers.

MiniSail-you couldn't be more correct. I have never been this impatient with anything in my life. There's something about a MINI fanatic. It gets in your blood cells and transforms you into someone no one has ever met before. I think my wife wants me to get the car more than I do..........just so I'll stop the B!TCHING and MOANING.

On your car........don't panic with the boat leaving. The WW site is slow, not as slow as ASKMINI, but still slow. If the boat left Port Bayonne than your car was unloaded. I haven't heard of anyone's car getting stuck on the boat. That being said, I would prepare yourself for some delays in the VPC process. There are some rare cases of cars getting out in a day, but I repeat rare. I'm on day 12 and no car yet. The boats are filing in and the cars have to be piling up. That will cause delays.

Birdie, It seems like you are going through the same emotions that I did before I picked up my MINI about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I was so nervous that something was going to go wrong and way too excited at the thought of finally being behind the wheel. This car has exceeds my expectations in every way! It is such a blast to drive. The wait is definitely worth it. I will swing by the freedom business center to spy on Bonzo when I hear that it has arrived. What dealer are you going through? I have to go to Don Rosen on Friday so if you ordered from them, then maybe I will see it there. Good luck with the delivery and enjoy all of our twisties in our area. As I said, it's a blast!

My Friends and Fellow Americans [and the other guys, too]:

Have just been informed that my MINI is in; all I have to do is make a couple of phone calls to my insurance company who'll give me the insurance cards, a binder for me to give to my credit union, who'll give me the check, that I'll give to the dealership. It's all that simple.

If everthing goes as planned [BIG HA!], I'll be in My MC on Saturday, which is almost as good as Friday, which is my birthday . I am - actually I don't know what, at the moment. I am incredibly aware of the crime of hubris; presumptive pride. That's when someone thinks how just freakin' fantastic they are and the gods them proceed to turn the idiot in a goat or something. Stay tuned for the next thrilling episode.

It's 20:15 (that's 8:15PM in jolly old England) and no news as yet as to the voyage of the Tosca except that it sailed from Bremerhaven on the 23rd and was due in Southampton today sometime.

Of interest, and I apologize if this is a repeat of a previous posting, the Tosca sails under the flag of Singapore, is a PCTC (pure car truck carrier), was built in 1978, dead weight of 15,350 metric tons and has a car capacity of 5,636 cars.

Now, just stay away from the icebergs!!!!!!

gr8tbrit,
Did you happen to notice how timely they updated that it sailed from Bremerhaven? Others have mentioned that the site is slow.

During the day of the 24th I pulled the sailing schedule and it should have reflected the departure out of Bremerhaven on the 23rd - it didn't. Didn't check it yesterday but today at about 09:00 central, it was updated.
