It might be tested sooner than later.
As the audio/video is now being controlled by your iphone, you'll likely need to play audio in the background on your phone (either pandora or via the iPod apps).
This is starting to make a bit more sense, especially finding out that Motion X works. Motion X supports "video out" mode (specifically for external video displays like in-dash media centers). Normally to do this, you need the special component/composite cables from Apple, but it seems that the MINI connected cable works just like one. Therefore, seems that if you find an app that supports Video Out and it *should* play on screen (thd sooner than latere native video player has supported this mode for a long time).
If this is true, then something like Netflix should also work in the same way.
Now, if I'm right (as this is still just a theory), that could also mean that if you were to install one of the many Video Out cydia apps (jailbreak apps) that would mean you could then seen your screen and most applications on the dash. Might be worth testing.

That is a relief that I got the right one.
Now, if I read correctly, I just need to figure out the Windows 7 64bit issues. I will have to tackle that once the car arrives.

This sound very interesting.... I read that BMW released an app also for android... If they release it also for mini connected it will be interesting... The android community is very "hack-oriented"
I'd expect to find a modified Mini connected app that will show everything you see on your mobile...

I would ask you a feedback regarding this issue (it works or it doesn't).
Any other suggestion?
I have the same cable but when it arrived, the CD was cracked. The company sent me links to download the software needed for the cable and it all worked. For those of you having cable / laptop issues, you can try these links for the software.

How do I turn off the taillights with DRL on. I don't want the tail lights and licence plate lights to be on at the day time. Anyone know?
I tried these two values but didn't work
DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_2 --> Not Active
DRL_TFL_MIT_KZL --> Not Active

Thanks to Theta for this thread! Well, after the wife finally getting annoyed enough at having to manually unlock the doors every time to get the boys out of the back, I was given the okay to code the mini. Can someone please advise on what to look for when purchasing a cable from ebay? Are they all the same (ie will they all work)? Some people have posted that thy had problems with their cable, but never saw a post on the solution. Thanks in advance.

I could recommend another one that I ordered in addition to the one above (it works well) but that's your call. There are many K+DCAN cables out there but not all of them may give desired results.
You're welcome! Very smart decision. You should be able to offer them about $85-$90 on their eBay page. It's not much of a difference, but it's a quality cable and it will pay itself off in the longrun.
Well I figured I'd try tonight to code the "one touch" feature on my sunroof.
The good news is that I followed the instructions and got the cable working on my Windows 7 64bit pc. I installed a VM with Windows XP and that made it work.
Also, I was able to read the ECU and get the trace file populated for the SHD module for the sunroof. I changed the values, saved as my MAN file, and executed per the instructions.
The bad news is my changes did not take. I re-read the ECU again, and sure enough my changes were not present.
Any ideas what I was doing wrong?

2) Make sure you set all of the proper strings to aktiv.
I would also note that a coded a mini this past weekend and the one touch close didn't take effect until after the car was shut down for 5 minutes (everything else worked immediately) Try coding another feature to see if it works.
I only know it didn't accept the changes because I read the ECU again and the 4 values I set to aktiv were still night_aktiv. I tried this several times. Perhaps I will save the TRC file as MAN before I make edits, as you suggest and try again.
The UI said "coding ended" after I clicked execute, and did so rather quickly.

Just to clarify...
The ".TRC" file contains the current status of settings as read by NCS Expert. For NCS Expert to change the settings, it needs a ".MAN" version version of the ".TRC" file with the new changes edited into it. Then, when you run you coding job, NCS Expert reads the ".MAN" file and writes all it's settings to the specific module.
The problem you are having could happen in at least three situations:
(1) a ".MAN" file does not exist;
(2) the only ".MAN" file found by NCS Expert is the 0-byte ".MAN" file "template";
(3) and unmodified ".TRC" file was renamed as the ".MAN" file (thus coding the module to its original state).

NCS Expert may be sensitive to the case used in the ".MAN" file extension. Turn on your ability to see the file extensions in your file browser window and you will notice that the original ".MAN" file extension (if you saved it) uses the upper-case ".MAN" file extension. I believe you saved your changed file as ".man". I'm not sure whether this is the issue, but it's worth a try.
Another thing to try is to make sure to close NCS Expert after you have executed your job, completely turn off the car, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on and test for the change.
Also, out of habit, I've always closed NCS Expert to edit the ".MAN" file, then gone back in to execute the job. Not sure this will make any difference, though.

Also, Koopah's method is basically what I use; the reason that it works is because the Default job is SG_CODIEREN which means that it's ready to write.

SUCCESS! I read the trace file, closed the program, made my changes to my MAN file, and started up the program and went through the process. I didn't pay attention to the default job, but I will keep an eye out for SG_CODIEREN from here out.

Excellent! Welcome to the R60 Koding Klub!
Of course, now you'll want to change EVERYTHING! Will changing-over to LEDs be next? Weather radio? Killing the key gong? Over-clocking the flux capacitor?

I will do selective LED replacement (parking lights and HID fogs, CREE backup light LEDs)). I've already done the entire interior in LEDs. Leaving the fogs on with high beams. I might enable the weather radio (never heard this before). Disable window stop rolling up when door is opened. Seatbelt warning (I always wear my seatbelt, but sometimes am pulling out of a parking spot and it's already yelling at me).
