Electrical Countryman-Specific Coding - R60 Guide
Set your cable to COM1 through the device manager. If you already have a COM1 device (you most likely will), change that one to COM3 or 4, etc.
Run the setup again, choose STD:OBD, then choose COM1. Should be good to go.

Wow I feel retarded for not even trying STD:OBD... I'm guessing that is the setting everyone pics.. I tried STD:CAN but the com port selection screen didn't come up. Thanks theta!
I think the docs should be updated to reflect that you need to select STD:OBD first, then you pick the com port.

I'm almost positive they do, but I'll take another look!
Edit: It's not contained in the short R60 directions, but is contained in the INPA/Tools setup guide.
Anyway, let this be an advisory to those having this issue in the future. DO NOT choose STD:CAN - ONLY choose STD:OBD.

It's so nice to be able to roll up the windows from the keyfob and have a proper one touch sunroof, thanks theta!
How much further down the rabbit hole can I go? Enabling and disabling basic settings is cool, but what's the next step? I see a lot of settings that are set to 'wert_01' etc that I'd be interesting in changing if there was a way to understand what the other values were..
I NEED MORE!

You want an honest answer? There's not much more down there in the rabbit hole.
For the most part, all of the neat and useful things have been found. Quite a bit of these settings don't pertain to our vehicles at all. So, you can change the values, but won't see any results.
Trust me, I've stumbled on some really cool features in the new datens (44, then 45, then 46) that don't do anything for us. Quite a shame.
I'm still looking for the value that turns my R60 into a JCW....
Oh wait, that's: -----------------

VERBRINGEN GELD
WERT_3000.
(and yes, I'm on the suckered-in list already)

Not to get too far off track here, but that's the reason I'm buying the entire kit. They won't sell the DME by itself, so the rest of it is probably just extra crap to sell.
It obviously won't open up any other coding loopholes, though - it will just add the factory-approved tuning and insane pop/burble that we all love.

Unfortunately, no. Unlike some BMW cars with memory presets for the mirrors, our cars mirrors are not part of the network in the car and can't be coded.
Quick question for anyone. I did not see anyone post this in my brief search of the thread. I asked the dealer (As I have done for other MINI's) to do the coding. I don't have an available windows box at home and I figure putting this into a VM on my MAC would just cause more issues that it is worth.
The dealer said that there was no coding that could change the DRL to any other light (They made the high beams the DRL's on my R53 back in the day and made some changes to the door lock settings)
Clearly, they can make these changes?

Strangely enough, it's far from the first time someone has had to do this.
However, you have to think that these guys aren't exactly as nutty as we are searching for the values, etc. Hell, even my service manager didn't know that these changes were possible.

City Lights as DRLs
Has anyone changed the DRLs on a R60 from the headlights to the city lights (in the fog light cluster)? I have found the fields suggested for a 2008 R56 but they appear renamed for the R60.
For a 2008 R56:
FRM2 module (FRM on R60)
VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL from drl_l to drl_s
DRL_TFL_MIT_SML from nicht_aktiv to aktiv
Note that on the R60:
VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL renamed to VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL_3R
DRL_TFL_MIT_SML renamed to DRL_TFL_MIT_SML_3R
Has anyone tried these changes to the R60 FRM module?

This is not surprising as some of the settings changes that worked on earlier (Gen 2) MINIs do not have the same effect on the R60. However, many of the changes DO work so it was worth a shot, eh what?
Considering the three key acronyms for investigation may be "TFL", "DRL" and "SML", perhaps some persistent searching in the trace files will yield a clue.
