Bah... scratch that last reply.... This is a link directly related to this issue on the BMW Coding forums.

Here's what you need to know for this error on a 64-bit OS. I neglected to remember how we run these tools here...

If you have Windows 7 x64 Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise, you are eligible to use the Windows XP Virtual PC tool here:

Careful with the Mac -> Windows coding - that's led many people down a road of pain with coding in the past.

It's best to get your hands on a normal Windows XP machine. Hell, with as cheap as hardware is today, you can get an older laptop off eBay for under $100 to run these tools right in your garage. I've personally run this suite on an old Pentium 3 laptop from the ~2002 era - this software doesn't take anything speedy to run properly.

Ok so I coded many of the features what looks to be like a success! Ran into one snag with the video in motion. Is there a trick to make the .man file to show up?

Not sure what you mean. Are you talking about when you do a module read? That will dump the FSW_PSW.MAN as normal - no tricks involved.

Interestingly enough, I am running Windows XP Pro using VMWare's Fusion (version 4.1.2) virtual machine software on a MacBook Pro (OS x 10.7.3) with 8 Gb of RAM. I've not run into any problems at all. Perhaps I've just been lucky...

Good to know! VMWare is the key there, as it's fairly agnostic in relating to these programs.

I'm in the same boat; Mac user with VMWare Fusion. I heavily use the snapshot feature especially before daten upgrades so I can make sure and go back if something doesn't go right..

No no I didn't mean it like that

I saw a few pages back that you said you were going through the v46 datens and I found them on bimmerforums and was actually downloading them last night. Being new to coding I didn't know if there was some process that had to happen before the newest datens could be used or not. Sorry if it came off wrong. Thank you for posting them, by the way

No harm done!

Posting new datens is always iffy because new folks get confused about updating, etc.

Several of us have done this, but it's pretty complicated. I replied to your earlier question, but it sounds like he wasnt able to get it done for you.

The new datens add some features, but I have not checked if they are working on the R60.

Interesting. My R60 was in the shop for about 10 days to ferret-out the source of an error from the TPM monitoring unit that receives the signal from the wheels; this required a regional MINI tech to get involved. Preparations for the service included changing out all the LEDs so MINI wouldn't freak out if they did an all-module reset. I was also resigned to the fact that I would have to recode everything using the V.46 datens and, thus, would need to update my NCS Expert software.

In the end, no update was performed. MINI replaced the TPM monitor unit and the antenna and I quickly reinstalled the LEDs. No problems since!

I'll do the V.46 update and hunt around a bit...well, at least to the extent that my feeble brain allows...

Having issues installing NCSExpert both on my Win7 64 laptop (i know there's issues there) as well as in the Microsoft virtual XP with the D-CAN USB attached. I followed the driver install portion of the guide without issue, and now I have COM3 which is the cable. However when I go to install NCSExpert I have no COM3 option in the hardware interface section, as per the attached pic. Any ideas? I've tried re-installing the cable without luck =/
