Electrical Countryman-Specific Coding - R60 Guide
FYI --
After partially converting to LEDs today, I can confirm that the settings:
KALTUE_RFS_L_M2_47
WARMUE_RFS_L_M2_47
nicht_aktiv
KALTUE_RFS_R_M1_9
WARMUE_RFS_R_M1_9
nicht_aktiv
do, indeed, deactivate the bulb checks on the front and rear turn signals.

So, I coded out the parking lights, brake lights and the turn signals with the following settings series:
SL = Parking Lights (Standlicht)
BL = Brake Lights (Bremsleuchten)
RFS = Turn Signals
However, I am getting a bulb check on the front left parking lamp. I've double-checked the FRM trace file and the above are set correctly. I'm thinking that another setting (among the ones theta has listed) is also needed for the parking lights.
Any guesses?
I'll probably just turn 'em all off if I can't find the right setting. Like GeoffreyM said, all I need to do is walk around the car.

I listed all of the bulb check lines - nothing is left out.
I didn't have any issue with the coding blocks, as I went one-by-one to confirm the settings for you guys...
You can try the IB (unknown) check, as I have that off by default. Don't know what it is, though...
Try this entire block since there's an extra in there... Might be the SML line that's doing it for you:
KALTUE_BFD_M1_5_M1_37
WARMUE_BFD_M1_5_M1_37
nicht_aktiv
KALTUE_BL_M2_43_M2_9
WARMUE_BL_M2_43_M2_9

KALTUE_BLM_M1_40

KALTUE_SML_M2_8_M2_32

KALTUE_RFS_R_M1_9

No, I didn't mean you left anything out. It was I who left out some of the lines you have already identified ("among the ones theta has listed"). So I will set the entire block as you have suggested!
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Will do! I'll first try the SML check lines and if the bulb check message persists, then I'll do all the other lines. Thanks for your patience...
BTW, the amber LEDs (GP Thunder 1156-SMD-30A) in the rear aren't quite bright enough for my liking. I assume the 30R would be brighter?

The amber are around 50% less bright than the reds will be. It's the 'fault' of the red lens back there - the color of the lens will filter the light in a certain way (remove every wavelength but the color of the lens, I think).
I find it more than adequate even in the daytime, but it is certainly dimmer than the red LEDs (not much dimmer than a regular bulb, though).
I think it's a tradeoff - everyone who has followed me at night comments on how much easier it is to see my turn signals versus the old way.

Presto! No bulb check. Now, if I could only figure out which one of the 5 settings did the trick. Oh well, I've got (marginally) better things to do with my time...
BTW-- I noticed that some of the lighting check lines were already set to night_aktiv by default in my original FRM trace:
KALTUE/WARMUE_FRA_Z_M1_11_M2_44
KALTUE/WARMUE_NSL_L_M2_51

Hmmmmm. My R60 build date is 11/2011.

Hey @theta, I live (around) stl and I am picking up my countryman soon, I hope, and was wondering if some weekend afternoon, after my cm gets here, if we could get together and program some of these out? I don't know if I am advanced enough to do these and I am running Mac OS.
If you are willing, let me know, and I would of course compensate you with some cash and cold beer of your choosing!

I swapped my parking lights with LEDs and looked at coding them out. Like Koopah, I also had bulb checks while just attempting to setting just the SL's (KALTUE_SL_1_M1_14_M2_41, WARMUE_SL_1_M1_14_M2_41, KALTUE_SL_2_M1_16_M1_18, WARMUE_SL_2_M1_16_M1_18). I was able to only code these to get the check to go away:
KALTUE/WARMUE_KZL_M2_49
KALTUE/WARMUE_NSW_M2_37_M1_3_C33
KALTUE/WARMUE_POL_M2_50_M1_8
I started getting frustrated, so that's as much as I could narrow it down.

Got your e-mail earlier today - sorry for not getting back to you on that - had an extra-busy day.
Really glad all that worked out for you - I know it was a lot of work, but glad it turned out to be worth it!

ohhhh I think I mess up
So was just trying to read the modules last night and I am pretty Sure I did not hit the execute button in NCS expert but I did not have it on ready only. only discovered that today you have to change your job. but that is not the problem I think the CHAMP and THe DSC were overwritten because in the morning when i got the hang of it and i was in read only mode. when I wanted to read those they were the same!!!!!! and I got an error. and When I went to read my DSC a warning cam up and said there was a problem with the ABS.. Kinda worried.. Can anyone help me out.. what should I do I attached the error message I got when I read the Champ File and the FIle it gave me and on both of there It would not populate the nettodat

Needless to say, NCS Expert can be dangerous to use without a careful and considered approach to what you are trying to do. Being in the learning curve myself, I have taken pains to make sure I can get out of trouble BEFORE attempting any changes. theta suggests that you verify your installation; a superb idea.
Do I understand that your MINI is not drivable or only that NCS is showing an error?
If it is the former, you need to default your mucked-up modules back to their original settings. Unfortunately, because the integrity of your NCS installation is in question, it may be safest to transport your MINI to the dealer and have them do it. They will have the latest datens file.
If it is the latter, then you simply need to verify your installation -- carefully! Set aside plenty of time (without beer) and reinstall theta's package. Carefully follow the instructions about reading the modules and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EMPTY ".man" file in your NCS working directory!
No offense, but I get the feeling that your first attempt with NCS may not have been done with the care and careful scrutiny needed for the work. It's not rocket science, but it is fraught with some real pitfalls for those who rush.
So, once you have a working, verified installation of NCS Expert, you can try to default the mucked-up modules back to their original settings. There are more detailed instructions to be found by searching the various NCS-related posts, but the overview is as follows:
1. Start NCS Expert and, instead of choosing Revtors profile, choose Expertmodus;
2. Select the module you wish to default and choose (F2) Sg_Coderin option to code the module to its default.
(NOTE: The instructions above are an overview of the basic steps need to default modules back to their original settings. You still must have the proper datens file and a working/verified installation of NCS Expert. You must search for more detail before attempting the two steps above and I take NO responsibility for your attempts at performing the module defaulting. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!)
FINALLY:
If you are lost at this point and can't drive the MINI, transport your MINI to the dealer. Optionally, you can look at the NCS Directory thread in the Gen 2 forum to try to find an NCS knowledgeable person near your area to help you default the modules.

Excellent advice, Koopah!
I exchanged a few PMs with him before he attempted this, and he was running into a few errors (using v41 datens on a 2012 CM, etc).
The only thing I can think of that would damage the modules would have been to read one module, then write that PSW file over a different module. That's not exactly the easiest mistake to make (I hope).
But again, well done - that should get him up and running. Worst case, take it to the dealer and feign ignorance. They'll just re-flash it with v45 or newer.

Video in motion
thanks to everyone. Theta/GefforyM and Koopah. I got the V45 Datens and updated. (I was fuzzy when I attempted) You need a clear head. My car was not disabled but was acting funny the radiator fan would not turn off so i disconnect the battery and the system must have reset. after the reinstall I was able to read the CHAMP module and no error the DSC module is still not reading (probley need a special daten for it). In the CHAMP module I think I have found the coding required to complete the DVD in motion steps. However not quite sure I should attempt yet. the instruction use the E93 and the CIC module. mine is the CHAMP. Will read some more and use NCS dummy to break Champ down so i can understand everything. UNless someone has update procedures for my specific MINI an R60 2012 countryman. again thanks for the support and the advice. (Been working on learning for weeks now) even took a programing class C++
If you run into a module that won't read, that's a sure sign of a daten mismatch.
Looking at the ISTA/P updates, it looks like v45 is still the newest. Make sure you run LADEN.bat, etc. to update them fully into NCS/EDIABAS.
To my knowledge, there isn't a direct guide for Mini DVDiM - only the BMW instructions. I do know that there are several people on NAM that have successfully completed the coding required on 2nd gen Coopers (R56,57,60).

They're also posted earlier in this thread. I sent him the link, so I think he's got the correct ones - won't hurt to double-check, of course. Post #43:

Mine went in for the Water Pump recall this morning. Got a new Thermostat at the same time because the check engine light had started up and new brakes because of my lead foot. I told my Service Advisor about my coding and he said "Cool! I won't overwrite it."
