Summit only show it in red, you could call and I'm sure that could get blue, if that what you want.
th3118 --- I just found these at a local auto parts store, but all of them said they were oiled. Is your filter oiled? I thought you said you were running a dry filter?

3" to 2.75" reducer and you need the 3" stainless coupler.

No, never said that, no problem with the oiled one, it's better to have it on a elbow, away from the MAF sensor.

What size is the elbow? I want to order from that site, but want to make sure i'm getting the right size.

It's 2.75 on the MAF end, if you find a 2.75 filter then the whole elbow can be that size. I found a 3.0 filter so I got the one the goes from 2.75 to 3.0

Don't forget the Stainless Steel Joiner.
Hope that helps.

Thanks! Have you ever taken it apart to see if you have oil buildup on the MAF sensor like some others have had here?

I own an R53 and I'm helping a buddy with an R56 to make a CAI.

I want to remove the plastic elbow (the one that normally goes into the stock airbox) and mount a silicone elbow on the end to go into a CAI box like Dorkboy's box from earlier in this thread.

Dorkboy told me that I could just carefully turn the elbow upward and the plastic will give enough to turn 90 degrees. However, I want to guarantee an airtight seal.

I know that the end of that tube is an oval, and a silicone elbow will conform to that shape. Does anyone know what size ID elbow I should be looking for -or- the circumference/OD of that oval at the end of the tube? I don't have access to his car and I want to order some parts today.

Thanks for your help!

im a little confused... isnt there a "fresh air pipe" that connects to the OEM Air Box? Should it just be left alone. If you are to not use the Air Box, what should be done with the fresh air pipe?

btw... this homemade stuff is absolutely amazing... i was just worried that it just wouldn't look as sweet but damn...

thanks guys

I ordered the Silicone Intake Parts and the 3" diameter AEM 9" Dryfilter. I'm not a big fan of oiled or foam filters, and this seemed like the best bet...and the fact that it came in under $100 for all the parts is a bonus. That's ~$200 I can apply toward my Alta Catback system...

I got the 3" short neck 9" long dryflow http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=320.....Also the elbow is 3" to 2-3/4" reducer http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...0f65c92aa54cc2...and then you also need http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...0f65c92aa54cc2 to hook up the filter to the elbow, it's up to you if you get the t-clamps they sell you would need http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...0f65c92aa54cc2 and http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...0f65c92aa54cc2 .....that should help!

A foam filter should make it not as loud....

hey minipete . i did the same setup you have . silicone intakes elbow and everything. the only thing i did different was the true flow foam filter. its big. i dont have a turbo back exhaust so that filter might be a lil big for my setup. im going to save it for when i get the alta dp or in case some other company comes out with a newer and cheaper dp. the true flow filter is open on all sides so im thinking that the open end is what gives me the noise i dont want.

Hey Engine58,
Well it's worth the try with the K&N..might make a little louder as i think foam quiet things up a bit...i think DDMWorks did a trial on that...but the size of the filter might have something with it...but in my eyes, the bigger the filter the better flow, you can never have to little restriction on the intake part of it!

Has anyone monitored the air intake temperatures through the OBDII system to see if the cone filter is dramatically different than the stock air box temperature wise?
