What kit?

Shoot, forget those initial thoughts, I wanna drive that machine!

Or at least ride in it - hey, you can't be further than 10 minutes from my house.

Oops, forgot, that's 10 minutes in my earthbound car...

Icarus is in flying mode.

Thanks. That's a huge compliment coming from you Bob. Much of what I've done to my car I owe to trailblazers like yourself, Sid, Tuls & others.

I've considered ghost flames either on the hood or down the sides. Or perhaps a hood scoop-wide flat back stripe over the whole car? Decisions, decisions...

Hold your horses and wait. Something like this just won't hit the market once they draw it up on paper

If you can't wait, then don't. When something needs to be posted about the system, or it comes out, they will let us know. And when SpiderX or any of the other beta testers have something to say/let us know about, they will.

So to state it again, there are no issues...

But they are a real PITA to get to with the SC on the car. When it's off the car, it's an easy do! FWIW, I checked mine when I took it off, poped the cover off the back, and the drive gears and oil looked like the day it was put together. And that was with over 80k miles on it!

I'll let you know that so far we have about 40 ft lb tq and about 25 whp on my car and on the stock car there is about 20 ft lb tq and about 20whp...... no dyno graphs as of yet but this is pretty close.....

not the power I was hoping for but really that was a NUMBER in my head to brag about not a real number and performance associated with that number....I'm pretty happy (smile) be really happy in a few weeks as some refinement and finishing touches get added.

the delay is because the Mini head is so constipated that more power really means head work and a header.... which is being addressed

I am currently having a custom header made that most likely will be available for sale at the higher end of header prices..... less than 1K but more than the $200-300 ebay options...... the exact route to market has yet to be determined...... we are hoping to pick up another 10-15% with this 4-2-1 design.

I am very interested (all eyes to the West coast) to see what Peter and the M7 team come up with.... M7 (fingers crossed) will be getting their kit shortly and is going for the "***** out" number with their "big valve" Cosworth car......as OCD as Peter is about the Mini some pretty interesting things I'm sure will be coming......

the advantage of the SC has already been discussed...... if after all is said and done and I get to 235-245 whp..... that will be great......this is very achievable

none of what I am posting is official but we really wanted a second car and maybe a third because I am still not done tuning and deciding on how best to fuel this thing.... which injector size etc.....

there is a lot to making a kit like this.... more than i expected.....

that being said my car is very powerful with a very nice tq curve and a ton of fun to drive.......

Dane's car has about 35 less whp and he was running with some pretty hot cars this weekend..... see the "DDM M62 and now there are two thread"

header and tune (DDM is now a Unichip dealer and will be doing tunes for 62 cars) are still yet to come......

The really cool thing is that I have introduced Dave DDM to some great guys that have a lot of knowledge and there are some really nice things in the works.....

The M62 kit is like deciding you will be a builder and your first project is the Taj Mahal (not quite as Dave had a lot of Miata development behind him) but you get the idea....

not long ago the choices for mods were only really a few options with a few companies and a lot of it looking alike..... that era is about to be over..... see Tuls new FMIC.... lots of cool stuff a great future for all those Minis coming off warranty and possibly changing hands......or not.....

if you like to mod cars and you like your Mini, think twice about selling as I believe things are about to get interesting and fun.....

Happy Holidays/ Merry Christmas

Bob

As I understand it there may very well be another M62 prowling the streets of the Southeast. This one I believe will be a touch farther east though! Of course with the new feel the other 2 M62s are talking about, the trip west to join the others for a ride will seem a lot shorter. Actually, maybe shorter. We'll see....

Dane, like you I cannot wait to give MINIBLU the bath it so desperatley needs. Also a new windscreen and things will be rockin and rollin.

Bob, thanks for blazing the trail with the first of the new M62 beasts on the road. I too am looking forward to additional upgrades that Dave is developing for the M62s.

Dave and M7, thanks for bringing this idea to table! I do look forward to being one of the betas.

More to come.....

I wouldn't worry too much about the peak HP number....

those in the know understand it's "area under the curve" that matters!

Dyno on Icarus tomorrow night unless real life comes into play again.

Update on reliability... zero issues. I repeat, zero issues. All is joyful!
