Production Week 37 (September 11) Support Group

I have yet to drive mine with the top up.
Homer...it's actually our 3rd MINI...our 2nd one was totalled
We bought our first 2 from Irvine MINI right off the lot. This is our first time going through the whole production cycle but with Crevier. It was going well...up until the past 2 weeks. Since my MA told me initially the delivery date would be the 18th, only to later change to the 28th....now the wait is becoming gruesome because it's just within reach. My MINI club was up near Port Hueneme this past weekend, some of us wanted to go to the VDC to try and liberate my MINI. I also have to wait 3 extra days so that my MINI can get a clear bra and window tinting done.... gruesome.
Homer...I hope you're going to go to the big MINI OC day this coming Sunday. It's going to be a lot of fun...lots of MINIs...and you can show off Basil. Look on the MINI Talk forum for details. It will start at the Neighborhood Cup in Aliso Viejo around 8AM..then the rally kicks off at 9AM..finishing up before noon at the old British pub in Santa Ana. There will be some MINI vendors and you can possible win MINI goodies. Hope you can make it.

Eenie - Moe is a most excellent looking car! Love the white top and white wheels!
I drove Basil with the top up for the first time last night.... Not as much fun, but still more fun that anything else I have driven!

Hello Friends....
GOOD GRACIOUS SCARLETT IS LIKE A DRUG!!!!!!! I LOVE HER!!!! ha ha ha... Hubby never gave me the pics we took at the dealer so I got new pics on her first roadtrip back home to Oklahoma. They are in the gallery. That's my brother in the car trying to be cool...she's all broken in now. We got 35 mpg before she was broke in...it will be neat to see how much better it gets.
HOMER!!!!!!!!! YOUR BABY IS WICKED COOL AND FANTASTIC!!!!!! Grrrr baby Grrrr!

Mighty fine looking auto you have there Aggie!
I'm having a real hard time keeping my right foot out of the supercharger! If I'm not careful, I will lose my license....
I will work on the gas mileage with the second tank of gas. I drove Basil last night for the first time with the top up - not as much fun as topless, but still lots more fun than my old suv....
Great to see the results at the end of the anguish and waiting!

I need to get pictures of Flo. Maybe this weekend. Surely is getting dark earlier nowdays.
I don't know how you guys get 30mpg.
When I was breaking in my MCS, I basically got 27mpg....but after the breakin period, I was getting 18-22 mpg..(half/half city and freeway).. I had leadfootisis.
The MINI is way too much fun, Can you blame me?

Leadfootitis seems to be going around
! I'm on my third tank - I got under 25 mpg on the first, about 25.5 on the second, and with what I consider very conservtive driving I was at 27.5 halfway through my third. That was until yesterday when the 25 mile commute home was stop-n-go and never got above 40 mph. That dropped me down to 26.7 mpg. I hope I can get the average back above 27 before the tank is done. It's kind of a goal of mine....
Minimus is a blast! Happy motoring everyone!

RE: gas... so far my "average" is 30.something... mostly hwy... only went to work one day, been running around with this and thats the others. I am keeping my revs at or under 4k.... but its super hard. I love the little whine of the supercharger... I think this weekend Moe will be expressing himself a little more so we'll see how his mpg holds up. Its good to know I CAN get that kind of mileage!
Moe goes BACK today.. to the tinters to fix the sunroof (I'm not pleased) and finish the sunroof (for some reason they didn't consider the back piece as part of the sunroof and left it untouched). He goes back to the dealers also to get his key programed as they neglected do set it to my specs when I picked up (even though everyone and his brother confirmed my choices..... but on the dealerships behalf I did push the issue of taking him Tuesday (at closing time) instead of Weds....)
See you guys this evening.. time to go play with my MO-Mo!

I might try to show up early to say hi, but Sunday is family time - church and brunch. It is the only time all 4 of us are together at the same time with all the work and school schedules.... We are also dealing with my mother-in-law that was just diagnosed with a pretty aggressive Leukemia, so Mrs. is not really up for a lot of fun activities right now.... If I get there, I will be looking for all the PW36, PW37 and PW38 socal gang!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Sorry to drop the leukemia downer on everyone.... I did mention the Sunday fun time with the Mrs, and she thought it would be a good break from the medical stuff - see y'all at the coffee shop! I'll be the old fat bald guy with the good liking wife and mini....
you are awesome!! Hope you and your wife are doing alright, illness is a tough one! It has got to be nice to have that mini and a great support system/family to keep everyone smiling and thinking good thoughts!
I gotta go pick Basil up - his ipod adapter is installed, and we have a big weekend - AARP convention on Saturday, MiniManiacs on Sunday! Woot!
Hey Homer! Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law's diagnosis. Hope only the best for your family.
The MINI is a multi-purpose entity... not only will it get you from point A to point B (we won't even go into how it can get you from point A to point B in lickity split time), and not only is it a fun, little vroom vroom-er..but it also has social and healing powers!!
If you ever need a pick me up - a quick run in the MINI will get you grinning again, especially the butt dyno as you accelerate. Sometimes, you just need to get away...motoring in a MINI can be zen like and peaceful (thank goodness for the multi-functional steering wheel). You should try kipping in your MINI at lunch time during the work week, you'll be amazed how well rested and re-energized you'll be afterwards.
Share your miracle, healing, cleansing MINI with your wife. Let her take the MINI for a spin. Just think Mary Poppins and her spoonful of sugar...but instead, top down with cool breeze in her hair, zipping along with heated seats. There might be one negative drawback....for you....your wife may not want to give your MINI back to you.
When we got Fresca, almost every weekend night, we would cruise up and down PCH from Newport Beach to Dana Point, top down with heated seats. Three months later, my wife allowed me to get another MINI so she could have Fresca all to herself. Another plus on having your spouse enjoy the MINI, she/he won't contest when it comes time to do mods....and trust me, you will want to do some mods.
MINIs...they certainly have a way about them...
*cue Billy Joel music*
See you at the Cup...oh, you should try their Neighbor Eggel...yummy.

Well, Mo got his shades fixed so he is not seeing spots anymore, he got his keys programed so Momma (me) has more control over what SHE wants him to do, he has his little strut caps on (waiting for the reinforcement plates), his secret weapon panel has been installed (from the blackbox decoder fame), and finally he has his shiney blue shift **** in place.
Then Momma gave him a huge present... He has kickin tunes! Momma installed the XM direct this afternoon, took all of 10 mins to get XM played through the headunit with no wires, cuts or gadgets showing aside from the antenna on the roof.

Congrats eenie on finally getting your MINI! Is this fun?... Oh yeah it's fun!!! I can't get enough of Milo. I seriously have MINI withdrawls when I don't get to drive him. I think I have dreamt about driving him every night since I got him over two weeks ago. I've become completely MINI obsessed.

Well my delivery date is once again is question. I called the dealer today and my MA said the car most likely will not be here Sunday like expected because it has not been released to the trucking company. This is the second time my expected delivery date has been pushed back. What could possibly be wrong?? This is killing me!!! Is anyone else in week 37 still waiting?? What is your story??
