Production Week 37 (September 11) Support Group
Ok... everyone take a deep breath, exhale slowly... think good thoughts and cross your fingers...
Afterwards go check your motor mounts for any leakage.
With just a 100 miles, Whipper's motor mount began to leak. I noticed a small pool of liquid amassing in the garage underneath the passenger side fender. Uh oh!
Luckily for me, the first thing I checked out was the motor mount when I picked up Whipper, I even showed my MA how nice and clean it was. To my shock and his surprise, I showed him the pool of liquid underneath the motor mount and stains on it. I have heard motor mounts leaking after 2000 miles but after 100?!!?
Hopefully, your motor mounts aren't leaking. If they are..keep a check on it...the only real bad thing that can happen, is the fluid/oil leaking onto your tires and having it kick up to the side of your MINI. This happened on my last MINI and it was really hard to get off the paint. Others who experienced the same issue actually had their dealerships correct/repaint.
With less than 300 miles, this is what I have had corrected so far:
1. Driverside sideskirt replaced - was scratched before pick up and the dealership tried to cover it with paint but still visible.
2. Motor mount replaced
3. Rear wiper leak fixed
4. Dashboard rattle fixed...but I still get a metallic rattle behind the speedometer
My MA and the Sales Manager were great in dealing with everything..and they gave me a loaner!!

Motor on and I hope your MINIs are well and zippy.

The hyrdraulic motor mount is on the passenger side. See how clean it is...well, after a 100 miles it was not clean any more and there was a pool forming and some spray onto the strut mount.

If there is a leak, you will see a dust and dirt accumulating near the bottom of the motor mount and on the opposite strut mount base. The pic below is an extreme motor mount leak.
Funny thing is I was pulling into my driveway (homeward commute) when it tripped... too many home chores on the list tonight to have taken it back out!.... Tomorrow will be one of those days I can't wait to DRIVE to work!
1246 now.... Just got back from a pleasant motor up and back the coast from Dana Point to Newport Beach and back. About 72 degrees, and even got a wave return from a black on black mini driven by a blond!
I envy you all.
I'm only half way done with my break in...it's hard to keep the horses contained.
Just remember... you can hit the redline, there is an automatic shutoff if you come close to the red rpm line. Let me know how quickly you can hit 60mph in 2nd gear.
Have fun!

I cant wait to get Lenore back and finish my break in period. It HAS to be a typo on my insurance repair quote! My guess is it is actually at 950, not 9050, but she's too far away (and getting ready for paint) for me to check.
I should be back to motoring by the beginning of next month.

Do'h. My first little mini problem - the ipod adapter quit working over the weekend. Tried to email the service advisor at the dealer, haven't heard anything back yet.... It just says "no magazine" when the mode button trys to switch to ipod. Any ideas of how I can fix this myself?

OH NO HOMER!
Keep us posted! I wonder if anyone in the previous week might have some advice for you?
I want to use my ipod but think I need an adapter to plug it in to that port THING in the glove box? Or that's what I have been told.

Homewest. I had this same thing happen to me not long after I got my new MINI. Here is what I did. I plugged the iPod into my computer and just updated iTunes and the iPod itself. It hasn't given me a problem since. I hope that helps!
Thats a bummer. I hope they take care of it. Check to see if when you connect your iPod that it is actually charging it. When I had the similar problem, my iPod was getting power just not connecting through the software. If your not getting power then it might be a fuse or a bad connection.
If by "that port thing" you're speaking of the aux adapter (one little hole) you need a "patch cable" go to radio shack and just ask the dudes there... say you need a patch cable 1/8 each end... they will know. less than $10.. plug one end to the hole (porthingie) and the other to the same place you'd put the headset on the ipod.. you do all the tuning from the ipod... the osund plays out the speakers. Simple simon. Press the "mode" button on the stereo until it says aux... that will then play the ipod. this is different than the full ipod set up Homer is talking about.
