Check the vendors section of this website - there was one company advertising that they got a hold of some from Canada (at twice the price that they were going for on Monday)

Has anyone out here on the west coast received their programming options from Mini yet? My MA says that they don't do that any more.

Good news! I got a call from my MA today...my MINI came into the dealership late today and she will be ready for pick up tomorrow!!!! I guess all of that complaining worked.

My MINI also came in on the Frescia on 10/5. I'm not sure why some are waiting at the docks longer than others. Maybe it has to do with how many cars are going a certain direction??? They have to wait till they have enough MINIs on the truck before it can take off? It all doesn't make sense and nobody seems to know what's happening. Frustrating, but hopefully everybody will get their MINI's really soon!

A penguin on a Whalen will be PERFECT! I have a Whalen on my Z3 and love it... I would have gotten one for the MINI but I have ordered the Hyper Blue ****.. I guess when I'm "done" with it I'll go with Whalen or if they somehow have forgotten it.

I just received the "Mind Meld with your MINI" email from MINIUSA. This is the email that asks you for all of your vehicle preferences i.e. auto door locks, DTRLs, etc.

Regarding the feature that leaves the headlights on when you walk away from the car (known as Pathway Lighting on the BMWs) sometimes referred to here as "Follow me home lights". Does anyone know if this requires the high-beam stalk to be pulled toward you upon exiting the car in order to engage the lights or is this feature like it is on some domestic makes where the headlights stay on for a limited time each and every time the driver exits the vehicle?

You have the option of having the lights stay on for 40 seconds, or up to 4 minutes.

The lights stay on if they are on when the key is turned to the off position.

Thanks aiiee! If that's the case I will not opt for this feature...I want control when and if I want my lights to stay on

Homer-

My Fergie floated across the pond and docked on the 5th/6th...was at the VDC by the 8th and arrived at my center (10 minutes from the VDC) on Tuesday. I arranged delivery for the 18th, but could have had it a bit sooner.

The email was redundant since I already chose my preferred settings via phone with my MA, but I neglected to bring up this lighting issue since I though it was the same as "pathway lighting" on my BMWs which is a default setting. Since it is not the same I will not opt for this setting. The MINIUSA email wasn't clear about this function.

I think your MA had to sign you up for "Make Waiting Fun" in order to receive this email along with the others that I periodically received.

Hang in there, all the anxiety over waiting will be over soon enough

Sorry about the 3-in-a-row post, but here is the content of the email as requested by some:

Please use the form below to let us know your preferences about a few things and a certified MINI Technician from Century MINI will program your MINI to match your requests.

YOUR TASTES IN MUSIC:
1. Tell us the frequencies of your 6 favorite radio stations (no letters, just station numbers) and we'll pre-program them for you:

LOCKING SYSTEMS:
2. Would you like your MINI to automatically lock the doors after you get going over 10 mph? Yes or No
3. Would you like a single click of the "Unlock" button on your key to open all the doors (including the hatch) or just the driver's side door with a second click required to open the other doors? Open all the doors or Only open the driver's side door.

YOUR VIEWS ON LIGHTING:
4. If you'd like, your MINI will keep its headlights on to help light your way after you have gotten out and locked the doors. No thanks or Great, please have my MINI keep its headlights on for: 40 seconds 1.5 minutes 2.5 minutes 4 minutes
5. Would you like your MINI to activate its daytime driving lights? They'll automatically turn off when you turn the engine off. Yes or No

aiiee, having the auto-headlamps I don't want to have to fuss with the switch. At dusk or dawn, or even at night in the bright city I get mad when people don't turn on their headlights. I don't have to worry about this if I leave the switch in auto. With my luck, if I ever took the lights out of auto I'd be cursing at people telling them to turn their lights on. They'd probably think I'm crazy since my lights wouldn't be on either!

Do you like this headlamp feature?

rare1: Yep, I do like the auto headlamps, but I thought youwere talking about the followmehome option. I don't know how that is integrated with the auto headlamps, it may be completely different than my set up. That said, I do like the follow me home feature, even though I sometimes use it when I don't mean to.

Sorry aiiee, I think I'm confusing the issue by thinking about my MINI in BMW terms. With the BMWs, there are 4 stages to the headlamp switch...Off, Parking Lights only, Headlights, and then Automatic Mode.

If you leave it switched to the Auto-Mode you never have to touch the switch again to turn the lights on or off, the lights turn off automatically even when you take the key out. Otherwise, if you leave the switch in any other position (excluding Off, of course) the parking lights will remain on.

Where I may be getting confused with the MINI is that if I leave the headlights switched to the "Auto" mode, I'd have to switch it to the "Off" position if I didn't want to activate the "Follow Me Home" feature upon exiting the car, right?

that's where we got confused I don't have the auto headlights, only the 'followmehome' option programming which operates like I described: turn the car off before you turn the headlights off and they stay on for a set period. Turn the headlights off before you turn the car off, and they stay off.

Not sure how this works with auto lamps sorry

There's the problem - my MA didn't tell me about the "Make Waiting Fun" program. I think my MA is a bit on the motivationally challenged side of life.

Glad to hear someone is getting good news...I'm not. Our MA checked the logs yesterday to see if it might have made it onto the last truck but they said it was still at the dock. I'm wondering if it's been stolen; or if it was driven off the pier and is under 20 feet or salt water and they just don't want to admit to it. Maybe it's parked out back behind the dumpster and they just forgot about it. Can it really be that difficult to transport a Mini the last 1,200 miles? I just don't see how some cars are on a truck within 48 hours of coming off the boat and mine is into it's 9th day of waiting. I'm not amused.

More delays

OK, at this point it's becoming a running joke. I just checked the MINIUSA on-line "status of your vehicle" page and the delivery date has been changed - they've added two more days. The only explination I can get from my MA is "No rhyme or reason."

Happy motoring to all of you PW37 folka that already have your Minis, and to those of you who will take delivery by the end of the weekend! And the same to the PW38 folks who might wander over to this thread who will have cars by Sunday! Perhaps I'll have my Mini by Halloween....or maybe Thanksgiving.
