>>182 - released to ship. TD3714524 and I also have the VIN number.
<<
Woah Gr8brit, you're freakin' me out with that "number" you have there; it looks like a combination production number (3714524) and VIN "TD". It'd be nice to have your last 7 characters to add you to the unofficial VIN brotherhood
also, Welcome Moggio!
Cheers,
Ryan

I just got off the phone with my MA and had a similar situation come up. MY MINI arrived at the port on March 6th. That same day, the WW site had me received and booked on the Carmen(as you know, the Carmen left on March 16th - TEN days after my arrival at the port). On the 16th, the WW site showed me loaded on the boat and that the boat set sail(with my car on board). Today my MA tried to tell me that it was not on a ship. She had, in fact, just received an update today stating this. I told her about the info on the WW site and she didn't know what to say. I said the Carmen was scheduled to arrive on the 24th; she said not to get too excited because they are always late (she also said that it would probably take 2-3 WEEKS to make the voyage!).
To make a long story short, I would trust what the WW site has over anything MINI provides at this point. And if the Carmen takes more than 9 days to make it here, I will personally procure a tug boat to help it get its a$$ moving!

I can attest to MINI's snooziness on intelligence-gathering; I called ASKMINI today for entertainment, knowing my MINI was loaded on the Carmen a few days ago, and is now somewhere in the Atlantic. The nice lady said my car was Status 193 (still at the docks!). I was like "well, that's good, thanks" No need to let them know info they can't do anything about! The WW site still says my car was loaded on Carmen the 16th, the day of departure. I would tend to trust the shipping company more than MINI at this point; they're just getting "hand-me-down" information via corporate snooze.
Cheers,
Ryan

Sorry, didn't mean to freak you out man. I probably didn't understand the answer to my question at ASKMINI. Anyhow, the proper number is TD67112 (that's the last 7 digits from my VIN number), guess thats the way it works. Cheers

yeah so i'm real pissed... driving along the interstate to school this evening, and a black pipe looking thing comes flying at me... hits winnie... makes a horrible noise... i get to school, and there's a pretty big mark on the hood to the left of the MINI emblem!!
It's a couple dents, with a deep scratch between them and a couple chips around it.
I'm stressing out enough with school and THIS is NOT helping... GRRR!
it's everyone's job to make me feel better...

That sucks really bad Ryan, be thankful that it's not any worse! ***** flying on the highway is major dangerous, the pipe could've crashed into your windshield! Best of luck getting Winnie's bruise healed. Remeber, steel can be repaired, paint can be touched-up!
Do what MINI says, "think of it as an experience-o-meter" (well, they're talking about milage)
Best Wishes,
Ryan

I can feel your pain. I had just bought a 1979 Corvette and had it for 1 week, when a kid pulled a U-trun in front of me. Well I didn't miss him. All i did was scratch his bumper. He on the other hand RIPPED half the front left Quater panel right off the car, and did $3800 dollars in damage. So I can defently relate to you man.
Ryan, all I can say is OUCH.
I had a similar experience with a flying shovel head and my beloved VW cabriolet. Major dent in the door and it actually brushed my elbow (glad I didn't hang it further out the window...) Eventually all was well and my car and I had a major bonding experience.
I have a question for all you seafaring motorers.
When did your VIN number show up at WW. Shadowfax went to the paintshop today but the WW website still gives me an "unknown cargo ID" when I enter mine. Do you have to wait until the build is complete to show up at WW?
I can't bear the thought of being out of touch...
Welcome Moggio!

>> I was listening to Echo and the Bunnymen, when I noticed that 4 cars ahead of me was a black/white mini cooper.
>>And then I noticed the song Killing Moon was on, it was a hit in the 80's, don't know if anyone remebers but the lyrics go something like "Fate, up against the wheel/ you will wait untill, you give yourself to him." I started dancing and singing, and was totally having a blast! The whole situation seemed so ironic, I'm now thinking that has to be the song to play when I get my mini!
Hey Katiedidmini
Great band, great song...I've been having a blast with some of my 80s era vinyl since I found a program to "rip" songs from records and import them onto the computer as mp3s. Now I can burn mix CDs from my 3000+ LP collection...bad craziness!
I also like your color choice. I think the VR will really stand out, haven't seen ANY yet. I might have considered it but I HAD to have the S.
I have also stalked a couple MINIs through traffic and actually caught 1 or 2 (they are rather slippery in traffic aren't they?) Had conversations with several motorers who LOOOOOOOVE their cars and told me I would be smiling like them soon!
Best to all-

That's so cool that you can do that! I had a friend who tried to convert his entire record collection by first transferring them to mini disc, then to the computer and lastly to cd. It took him forever and I don't think he ever finished!

Thanks for your responses. Makes sense. It just seemed hard to believe that Waldo made the Carmen when it hit the dock the day before.

>>I swung by the dealer on the way home, and they were like "OUCH!" he's going to make some calls to see where the best place I can go to get it fixed. It's doubtful it will be fixed 100% w/o any noticeable difference, and will probably cost me a fortune. I wanna do my best to keep my insurance out of it, since i already have really high rates.
>>
Sorry to hear about the damage.
Flying objects hitting a car is usually covered under comprehensive on your insurance policy. Depending on cost of repairs vs. deductible it might be worth putting in a claim. I know in California (and expect it would be the same in most states) they don't/can't raise rates for comp claims unless you have a history of running a lot of them.
If in doubt call your agent, it doesn't cost you anything to ask.

Katie, if you're interested the software I use for vinyl to mp3 transfer is called the Analouge Ripper...its Mac only shareware, but if you have the RIGHT kind of computer (no bias here
) you can download it and get full feature for 14 bucks. I have really enjoyed playing around with it.
Good night April clubbers, where ever you are!

OK, my car is here........in Calgary.......thats where I live, but it is still sitting on the train on a siding somewhere. My MA says it could be a few more days until it makes it off the train........or it could be here the day after tomorrow. I can't wait anymore.
I drove by the MINI dealership today and looked at another yellow one they have there with a black roof. It didn't help to calm me.............I want it now. I can't wait. The last little bit is far worse than the last month and a half.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
