When you do it yourself, does the computer reset it self for miles to go to next change?
>>
>>Regards,
>>Red
No the computer does not reset, and you don't want to reset it. There are instructions for resetting it somewhere on here, but that would mess up you warranty service intervals. Wait tell the warranty is up then learn to reset it. !st service is around 10000 smiles, after that it goes to 15000 smile intervals.

And I was surprised to find no hook insert on the front bumper, only on the rear?? seems odd to me.
>>RAT
Actually, there is an insert in the front, although it is pretty hard to find. If you look in the black mesh air intake below the front bumper, near the left-hand side (facing the car) you will see a little circle in the mesh pattern. This is removable, and is hiding the threads for the towing hook.

Chef, thanks for the Moss boot mat link!
Andy, the MINI's stock brakes are VERY capable. All the publications have gotten 70-0 stops in mid 160's with minimal fade. This is true sports-car territory. Learn to step on the pedal! With the EBC Green pads, the brakes are more linear, however, more pedal effort is required (which I love), don't confuse higher pedal effort with wimpier brakes!!!
I went and got the enormous 36mm socket from Sears today, only $7
Make sure to get a 1/2" drive standard depth socket, no deep sockets, it won't fit! I'm gonna do my oil in a bit.
(as Mike Myers would say: "talk amongst ya-selves"

P.S. WagsFTB - I saw an all Pure Silver Cooper today! Looked awesome!

Does everyone have the audible low fuel level enabled? There is another thread going asking about this.
From my "OWLA" of 4/21:
"Computer is fun to play with, and was quite accurate on the first tank when it said I had 46 miles left. It took 11 gallons. Got an audible "ding" (does everyone get this?; I asked to have it programed and my MA said he never heard of it, but passed it on....maybe it is standard) and the fuel warning light went on at that point. Very cool."
It was a long story
, so perhaps no one noticed that part.

My MA had to get the tech to turn it on. At first they did not think you could do it, but they mentioned something about using the Euro guide. I will ask for more info when I pick Motor'nMAX up tomorrow am.
I've been filling mine up at or just below quarter tank, so I dunno if my dealership enabled it! I should find out
filled up for the 4th time today, cuz I just passed up 1000 miles!
This last tankfull yielded 27.4 MPG, sweet! Since the car is getting closer to the 1250 point, I'm ramping up in how hard I push the engine. My first full throttle was about 700 miles, and I still haven't brought it over 5500 RPM.
Also, I changed my oil today! About 4.3 quarts came out, which is about a half quart less than it's supposed to be!
Replaced the oil filter, and the canister was a beeeiitcch to reinstall (threads kept crossing, grrr), and filled it up with 5 quarts of Amsoil 100% synthetic (no blend!) 5W-30, as recommended by MINI.
"...and I'm spent!",
Cheers,
Ryan

Rachel, 'dem stripes is bodacious!!
I'm still torn whether I want stripes or not...I love the way they look, but I also love the "clean" look. I really want to wait and see the car, maybe get used to it for a couple months, then reconsider.
Ryan, oil canister=beeeeeitch frustrating <or> beeeeeitch difficult? I weant to do my oil changes to avoid long drives to San Antonio other than major scheduled maintenance so I'm curious how it went...who else to ask but the VMA!!
Have fun manana par4, I'm jealous...but I'm just a few days behind ya'
Hang in there pamato, tomorrow is my arrival at dealer day, ready for pickup day is Mon/Tues and I can't actually go to SA until Wed....Go clock go!
Have a great weekend my April peeples!!

sorry to keep you all in suspense...
I HAVE MY MINI!
the drive from Denver to St. Louis was actually pretty nasty, as we had 9 straight hours of thunderstorms to drive through. not a pretty sight. as if having near zero visibility at times wasn't bad enough, we decided to take our two Jack Russells along for the ride, and they weren't too keen on going out to potty in the driving rain. needless to say, the rental car smelled like wet dog for the entire leg of the trip...
internet access on the farm is VERY limited, so pics will take a little bit longer.

okay, so it has taken me 1.75 hours to download the necessary drivers for my DigiCam on the computer here at the farm. because the connection is so slow, i'm only gonna upload our first MINI pic now, with many more to come later.
here goes...

Chef, the oil canister was a bit frustrating, but not difficult, to get reinstalled. It was just a matter of blindly threading it back in, and it kept trying to cross its' threads. I was just about getting annoyed when it magically threaded itself perfectly, taa daa! It was a case of Mr. Motor knowing when I had enough horsing around

Cheers,
Ryan

Sockdaddy...what can i say...
That black on black is awesome, I'm speechless...what a beauty (you're lookin' pretty good too. I can see how the two of you could turn some heads in Iowa, or anywhere else...hope you get some bettewr weather for the rest of your homecoming!!!
Here's today's "already motoring" question:
Tell me about the boot cover (you know, the one that raises and lowers along with the boot...did you leave it in or take it out...with most cars that I've seen these on they seemed *lame*--more trouble than they're worth...opinions????
Just in from a *BIG* catering function...8 students and I put out an Italian buffet for the school's JROTC program awards banquet...200 covers without a hitch...sweet. Now I'm suckin on a Bass Ale, listening to my new Clash on Broadway CDs and hangin' wit' my April crew...life is good.
Tomorrow is final clean out the garage day, get shadowfax' crib all set for Wednesday...still working out whether I will drive to San Antonio tomorrow for a quick look...dunno, its also Eeyores birthday party, a very cool Austin celebration with much beautiful spring weather, cool live music, drumming, imbining and general hanging out...may just wait to meet 'fax on Wed...
I'm now considering a vanity plate to read "COOKIN' " if its not already taken...whatch'all think?

I work at Bowie High School in SW Austin. I teach a professionally oriented culinary arts program for juniors and seniors...all commercial kitchen...full blown cooking and service... totally customer driven--no "suzy homemakers" here...after 18 years in the hotel industry I was looking for something a little different to do...I certainly found it and I love it...my students ROCK MY WORLD!

OK, last one for tonight I promise. Here is April at the Bonneville Salt flats later on in the day - doesn't look nearly as dirty as she is because of the glare of the setting sun.
