I'm gonna leave the rear camber the way it is for now, and just keep an eye on the tire wear for a while. If I need to fix it, I'll grab a set of H-Sport rear control arms, they're the only arms that are SCCA legal for Showroom Stock, cuz they have the same type of bushing.
Cheers,
Ryan

The Italian Job comes out on the 30th? Do you think they'll release it in Italy at the same time?? I'm going to be out of the country!!!
Chef- I feel your pain on the Italian Job rental thing - I've tried every single Blockbuster in Southern California over the course of the last year and a half - at least every one in San Diego county, Orange County, Riverside County, and west Los Angeles. I'm not sure if they might have one in the Valley, but it's a bit of a drive for me to get up there. STILL NO LUCK.
Is the camber really that much of an issue?? Oh no! More money I need to spend!
The Special Boy Scout Award for 100 pages of posts!

Congrats on the 100th post. I was too busy reading to catch up to get in here to post. I realize that my OWLA is due, but I've had a few too many pale ales from my local brew pub to have the energy for a thorough OWLA. I promise I'll try to get it in tomorrow. Let's just leave it tonight at "I'm glad I got the MC, as the I'd be in WAY too much trouble with an MCS". More details tomorrow.
Ryan, I read mention of you being persuaded to the Chicago area for something as simple as food at the Hamburger Hamlet. Please, by all means, if you make it out this way, let me know so that wo can get our IB/W cousins together.
BTW - got flashed (headlights, that is) on the way home from work by a very pretty SG/W on Wolf Rd, just north of 294. MAN, I LOVE THIS CAR! Enough for now. G'nite my CWFAC friends.

Andy - I love the Krispy Kreme story! That was great! I can't believe all the posts from when I left work to this morning, guys. Nice job. Perfect that Ryan kicked off Page 100!
Chef - Teacher of the Year?! How great is that? It's all coming together for you. Just a little while longer.
I know we are all spread out over the place, but I am heading out to the NY rally on Sunday. Is anyone in the club going to make it? Would love to meet some CWFACers in person!
Oh - so after we washed the cars Sunday afternoon, we sat down for a nice Easter dinner and some chit chat. We went back out around 10:30 and the birds had target practice on the minis! Yea for car covers. The only sad part is that I love looking at her out the window and now she just looks like a mini grey lump.
See ya...have a good one.

WOW You were all busy last night. Congrats on page 100. Way to go Ryan, I'm glad you got to do the honors.
Funny thing happened last night. I saw another MINI. the week before I picked up Pyro, I saw MINIs everywhere. The day before PU, my daughter and I saw 5 in a stretch of about 5 miles. I haven't seen one since until yesterday. It was a VR/B. Great combo Katie and Michael. My first "out in the wild" sighting of a VR. I am still looking for someone to post a pic of a gold one.
Chef, cater the meal and serve jellied eels.

will probably be looking for some aftermarket sun filter type deal. the brake dust is by now legendary, i definitely will be goin' green on that score. you definitely have to be creative as far as storage and what you think you need to bring along "for the ride" this car does not tolerate clutter! atleast not like my old caprice classic where i tend to store xcountry skis bike stuff snack items...well you get the picture. i'm reforming" one day at a time" I'll leave my first wash-up story for another time. just in case i haven't said it lately I LOVE MY MINI
now if i could just figure out how to post a pic hmmm i have one in a file that i've attatched to an e-mail . that was easy hint hint oh for poor long suffering chef R ... hang in there my man. savor the most exquisite pain you will ever know ...it is so worth the wait ..you'll see plug follows..
anyone in the new england area doing the mt washington minis on top (private) drive up mt washington? sunset cruise on the summer solstice no less. I'm there Dave/ mc/brg/wt/wt H/K cordoba ,fogs spoiler , where the heck did my rubber mats go?i

ugh. No install on the stripes today: it's raining too hard. Tomorrow, maybe. The installer made a comment about me being a meterologist because I was giving him the odds of rain for this week. Ooo.. if he only knew about the cwfac and the obession I've got over that.
In the meantime, I've been playing with the tire pressure to figure out what handles and feels best for me and my driving style.
For the record, 38/40psi front/rear bias is a bit too harsh and choppy without any real handling benefits on these nasty Boston roads. 36/36 was a bit squidgy on the road, but I might yet get back there. Next to try is the 36/38 and see if it makes a difference at all.
Gas mileage... given that I haven't been driving efficiently at ALL during the break-in so far (changing rpms, taking random side roads that look curvy, going in circles just because I can, keeping the sunroof and all the windows open), I'm getting a hair over 25mpg. It's slowly creeping up, too.
Chef, congrats on the Teacher of the Year award! ::cheering::
Ryan... so, wait... I'm not sure I'm understanding you.. how do you feel about the H-sports?
Congrats on mostly selling your previous car! I've still got to finish up on the Probe (it's been relegated to the garage at SO's parents' house waiting for a sweeper and some more wax), then I can kiss it goodbye.

Well I guess you didn't try Eddie Brandt's Saturday Matinee (818/506-4242, 5006 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, California). They cater to the biz so they have everything. I mean literally EVERYTHING!
And congratulations to, well, all of us on our centennial page. Have you compared the number of posts here to other clubs? We're one happening group of MINI owners and owners-to-be.
Speaking of which, sometimes I'll drive my '89 Sterling and imagine I'm in a MINI. I'll visualize the distinctive dash, the grip and handling, the unique feel of a MINI and I'll find myself having more fun on the road... even in a beat up old Sterling! Ah, the power of pretend. (Am I the only one who's done this?) Well I won't have to imagine for much longer. I fly out Thursday for a week-long drive back home. Just me and my non-imaginary MINI hitting Route 66 (among others). Now THAT's going to be fun!

Thanks for the link Hfranks. I have been looking at the Yakima rack, but Bridger is the first one who has used it on the MINI. I am also going to find a Thule somewhere. They guy who bought my vanagon works at an outdoor store that the Thule sites list as carrying them. Maybe he'll give me a deal.
And Hfranks, great looking chilli red.

Took a friend to the dealer hospital today to show off Jack and to check his progress. Much to my surprise Jack has had one enhancement operation (R90's fitted), and was in the process of having the aero package operation when obviously the doctor(s) went to lunch - got to keep those hands steady and I trust it wasn't a liquid lunch

I have to admit, I've done this in both my 91 VW and my wife's 99 Volvo (complete with sound effects -blush-) My son, who is 7, has actually told me to STOP pretending and "drive real!"
C'mon, 'fess up y'all, who else did this before you got MINIed???
Later,

You don't know what it is yet. Maybe something minor (let's hope). If they have to repair a cosmetic flaw, they should be honest as to what it was, and how they fixed it.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

Ok guys...I think my mini was killed. I talked to another MA today and he said that one of his customers had a red flag and it was due to a cargo box fell on top of the car and crushed it. There were 2 cars that were red flagged and mine might be the car that was next to that car. The only hope for me is that my car hasn't disappeared off the delivery list (the other car was taken off), so it might be a totally different situation. My MA wasn't able to get a hold of dock people, so i don't know 100% if my car was involved in that crazy catastrophe.
The other MA told me that his customer reordered her car and was moved to the top off the list and was given $500 off her price. The only drawback is that she would have to wait another 2 months for build and delivery time.
The only other option is to buy a car off the lot and they'll try to match the price to the best they can w/ what i had (in case the cars are more loaded than what i had ordered, and i might have to choose a different color).
If that's the situation (car is crushed to bits), what should i do? I don't really mind getting a car off the lot, even a different color wouldn't be so bad. 2 months to wait for a car is gonna seem like eternity. I don't think $500 off to wait another 2 months is worth it, maybe if it was like $1000. If i buy off the lot, the whole enjoyment of tracking my baby will go down the drain. It would be like i was adopting.
This really sucks...i was soooo close to getting my mini, and now he might be dead. I will inform you asap when i find out what's wrong. Whatever happens, i'm still going to represent the CWFAC to the fullest (hey, i was the second member...hehehe). Please pray for my mini tonight....thanks guys....

Jeremy that's awful. As a fellow passenger on the Medea I can't help but feel a touch of survivors guilt.
Your MA should be checking inventory of all dealers to find one that is closest to yours in color and options.
