Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, now I'm in deep doo-doo with the esteemed VMA...If it helps to get any of the stink off, I did leave a large post-it in the center of my computer screen at work b4 I left on Friday. It says CALL MA!!!
I will be after a status report and I also have a list of 10-12 questions/reminders to run through (including programmable options and the status of the MINI aux port adapter...)
Thanks for keeping us on our toes, sir, otherwise there might have been several minutes that went by today when I didn't think about my MINI and that just wouldn't do....
I did invent a new game today to help pass the time while driving my wife's Volvo around running errands.
It's called the "Is that car as cool as a MINI game."
If you'd like to try it, here's how you play.
1. Drive around.
2. Each time you see another car, ask yourself..."is that car as cool as my MINI?"
3. Say "Nope, nope, nope, nope, close but no, nope, nope, ick an Aztec, nope, nope..."
4. I suspect that this game might be even more fun while actually motoring!

Well, its official. Cece is now in my posession. What a treat. Absolutely amazing to drive. I'll write my story tomorrow morning. And I will be sure and take pictures tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to all who have made the long wait so pleasant in anticipation. To the rest of you who have not taken delivery yet, its well worth the wait.

Sup Y'all!! Just wanted to say hello and say congrats to all the new owners. It's been great following this club from the early stages (new members joining, remember status 150?, and Ryan's FIRST link the the FANTASTIC CWFAC page) to everyone finally taking possesion of their MINIs. Yes, i'm still wondering how long is my mini going to be at VDC. I'm the last of the Medeas's CWFAC members and it's KILLING me!! Makes me feel kind of worried that something might have gone wrong w/ my mini. Why must they tease me like this! Talked to my MA and he doesn't know the exact date that it's to be delivered to the dealership, just that he thinks it will arrive this week.
With all that said, i'll be sure to let you guys know when i finally get the call and take delivery. I'll for sure take the digital and snap some photos of me and my mini for the grad page. It's been 9 months worth of waiting for me (geez, sounds like i'm about to have a baby or something!?) and i can't waits no mo'!!!

I'm having a good feeling about today. I think today might be the day I get "the call."
Until Saturday, my EDD was showing at 4/14. Then on Saturday, it suddenly changed to 4/13. Could it be? Is it possible? Is Daniel at the dealers?
I've set a clock to go off at 8:30, when the dealership opens. Until then I will sit here in front of the computer, obsessively refreshing my OL and the MCO pages.
I've only been up 15 minutes, and this day feels interminable.

Talked to my tasteless sister yesterday. She thinks the mini is the ugliest car on the road. She just bought a new Honda Element. Talk about strange looking cars.

How many miles were on your car before you changed the oil. Not sure if I'll do my own change, or have the dealer do it, but I surely don't want to wait until 10,000 miles before doing it. Especially if fellow motorers have been finding shavings... that just solidifies my desire to do the change. I was thinking at changing at around 2000, or 2500. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

My MA told me to change the oil at the end of the break-in (1200 miles?). Is it something that someone who has never changed oil before can do? I am willing to try but don't wanna screw stuff up.

Perhaps "Operation Sneak to the Front of the VDC Line" was indeed a success....Got confirmation on my floor mats and window tint...found out the dealer does NOT use stickers/badges because they are *TACKY* (I agree) they just put on a license plate frame...have to wait for my regular MA to return on Thursday to discuss the final financing arrangements and the programming options.
Red and Rachel, I hope you are having a great day with your new rides, I will be thinking of you all day!

woohoo! Delayed again! My MA left a message on my answering machine saying that oops he needs more paperwork faxed to him before I can get my hands on the car.
I'm so beyond frustrated and anguished that all I can do is laugh. A lot. Loudly.

It's here! My MINI is here!
I just got the call, Daniel arrived at the dealer this morning, and they've put me at the head of the line to pick up the car at 5 today! (Please forgive my rampant overuse of exclamation points, I'm very, very excited.)
This changes my whole day. I have to pick out something to wear, I have to make sure the digital is charged for pictures, I have to finish my "first ride" cd mix, I have to order a cab to the dealer, I have to kick the WRX out of my parking space...
Oh my goodness! Before I forget (in the rush of madness coming on) I want to thank everyone here for being so dang great. I wouldn't have made it through this whole thing without all of you. This is, without a doubt, the best CWFC ever.

The MINI arrives at Port Hueneme on 4/18 according to WW and 4/17 according to my MA. I believe WW more than MA on this part...
Side question, does anyone know how to pronounce "Hueneme"
...LA is close to PH, so my MA was estimating about 4 days from ship to dealer. Since my "delivery" involves a road trip to LA (and since 4 days seems a little too much to hope for), I've agreed to pick it up on 4/26. That will leave me just barely in the the CWFAC, just as I had hoped when I got my production number.
If it isn't 4/26, I'll have to wait another week.
I hate the thought of all those wasted days without motoring, but it'll be worth it when it's over. At least, to hear all the graduates tell it, it will be.

Ok, sorry about the late notice - I picked mine up on the 11th, right on schedule, but had time only to drive home, change into my BDUs then drive on to my National Guard weekend drill for April. Got to put about 400 miles on the odometer over the weekend and it was all SWEET SWEET BLISS. I can't really add anything to what's already been said about an a$$-rockin ride.
