R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
Andy, I love the picture of "MINI says goodbye to Vanagon" So sad, yet releaving! What intake and exhaust did you get already?! If you're in need of more mods, I'd say go for the Green stuff pads (SO worth it from an anti-brake-dust perspective).
I'll be definitely providing detailed install as well as handling changes about the springs this weekend! So stay tuned!
----> TJ: So how did you mod your brakelights? The "bright as hell" method or "Ryan's innovative" method?
Cheers ..... and snoozie-time for me!

Thanks for the pic Andy, I really needed to see a CR/B MINI right now...like the wait couldn't get any worse!!!
You're car is BEAUTIFUL!!
Slowly going crazy...chef
At least I should be getting my glovebox organizer tomorrow--yay, a little piece of a MINI--but I want the BIG piece!

more than fable and my mini will be in peabody soon!!! I'm trying really
hard not to be a pest and call my MA-- I'll give it until friday.....

Ryan,
I got a Rogue exhaust and a Pipercross intake from an MCOer who traded his MC for an MCS. Got a great deal on it.
I'm thinking of the brake pads first, then the sway bar then the springs.
Chef. You have totally sucked me into the drama and pain of your wait! Every time I read one I want to go out and drive for you.
Today we get to drive my daughter to flute lessons (in the past it was I HAD to drive.......).
What you need to do is get some HUGE strawberries (chilli red of course) and dip the tops of them in the darkest chocolate you can find. Now inject a bit of Grand Marnier in them and enjoy. That will have to be a sort of CR/B fix until Shadowfax arrives.

Y'all remember to do your chants today and we'll get shadowfax home during April!
Today instead of whining or throwing a tantrum I have decided to go with a literary lament, here 'tis--
"April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory out of desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in a forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers."
-T. S. Eliot
"April will be the kindest month, bringing
Forth MINIs from the British land, inspiring
Motoring desire and luring us to the Twisties.
Roaring onwards with a twinkle of Xenons
And a flash of Chili Red, wearing brake pads
Of Green as the wildflowers flash past, and
The sunroof opens upon the Spring."
-da chef (with sincerest apologies to T.S. Eliot)
Cheers y'all

Its a sad day
CeCe is going to be at the shop through Friday because they have to order new interior parts for the inside pillars. They have tried to fix the leak from the inside by sealing the roof on the inside. Hopefully that will work. So sad to have had the car for 1 day before having to take it to the shop for a stay of at least 5 days! argh.

Miniusa just updated my EDD from 4/8 to 4/17...Hopefully it comes in and they're not just keeping my mini hostage. I'm crossing my fingers and praying that i will can finally be a graduate and be motoring by this weekend!
Did any of you guys get the extended warranty? IF you did, how much did they charge you for it?
peace....

Here's a little tip on the joy of motoring, to hold over those of you still waiting
While driving down 8th avenue today(which is in the process of being repaved) with my top open and the wind blowin' in my hair, I came up with the perfect analogy to explain the feel of motoring in a mini(perticularly a mini with runflats). Waterslides! Remeber the feel of a waterslide? You hold your breath and you jump into that plastic tube and there's nothing else there, just you and the slide. Remeber how you could feel every little thing on your way down? The cracks that joined pieces of the slide together, the way your body sort of slammed against the walls around corners. Sometimes the plastic burned your skin a little, and sometimes you'd catch a little air only to fall back down hard against that plastic and keep on going. But it was those little things that so enhanced the expirience of the waterslide, they held a level of uncertainty in your mind that intrigued you, let you know that no two rides would be the same.
Anyway, I think that's just how it feels in my mini. Just thought I'd share it with you all.

My MINI has arrived. It's at the dealership in Baton Rouge waiting for me.
On Friday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. we'll be see each other for the first time... kinda like a blind date except that it's already love.

Awww, how sweet! [wipes a tear while puking!]
Today's Michigan MINI meet was fun stuff, although the turnout was lighter than hoped (probley due to the 40 and windy and cloudy weather
).
Cheers,
Ryan

I also share chefrichie's pain. Either my Tilley is lost in the wilds of New Jersey, is sailing 'round the world on the Jingu Maru, or has somehow evaded the MiniUSA tracking system. She's allegedly still "en route", according to the website and to my MA in Milwaukee. Estimated delivery date is still 4/19...
Her new toys are arriving daily, but are left to sit alone in a box in the hall.

Well Chef, look at the bright side. The agony of waiting has stirred your literary side. Nice work, and no apologies to anyone.
Don't go nuts. It's worth the wait. You will be fine.
Just showed my 18 year old son the joys of lateral acceleration. I think I may have finally gotten him interested in cars.....except for the "shifty thing".....
We spent 15 minutes doing one cloverleaf over and over again. I find the back comes around a little bit if you like with no mindless DSC intervention.

Red

that's all i've been doin duder, focusing my chi on your MINI's arrival. in the meantime, you can occupy your time by driving a MINI on a roundabout... not really entertaining in my opinion [i refuse to say IMO (that one doesn't count!)] in the 3 mins i played it, but i'm giving it another shot...

Thanks for the energy dude,
IMO (couldn't resist
Tried to get my mind off the interminable wait today by going for a beer with a bud after work. We're sitting out on the curb, minding our own business, drinking our XX and up pulls a (you guessed it) LY/W MC...damn! back to my preoccupation. Did have a nice chat with the owner and his wife who wished me well and traded info for the possible start of an Austin area MINI club
Oh well, one day closer...
Don't work TOO hard (I need your chi focused on more important things)

I almost forgot to mention...
Cool sig thingy wags...I see you finally got somebody to take you up on your request
Is that how the MINIs come ashore after the cruise from England? Not how I imagined it, but much more stylish!

so, who all is stuck in VDC limbo? i understand that there's a bit of a backlog, but this is unreal!!! it's been almost two weeks that my MINI has been sitting there, and no one can provide any real estimate of when she'll actually be on a truck.
