Maybe they're concerned about pirates grabbing a boat full of Z4s, 7-series, or more importantly, MINIs. Anyway, looks like that is a dead end.

>>OOOOOH! That is interesting. Maybe James Bonds' new bmw that turns into an invisible rocket ship is on board?
>>The easiest way to get a call sign is from the US coastgaurd website, located here.

Unless of course that boat is the mysterious Undine and it's STRICTLY secret cargo!

Anyone know how often the shipping company updates its web site? I'm currently at 160 and I don't really want to pester AskMINI for a daily update since nothing much is going to happen now. I was thinking of just checking the shipping web site daily for my VIN number to see when it is received at the port and the ship's schedule. Is it updated in real time or once per day (night). Anyone know?

I think it updates many times during the day. I know this from checking the arrival dates of ships on their site. Sometimes they change dates of arrival during the day. I assume they probably update the rest of their tracking information more than once a day.

I have some interesting news today; there's a possibility I may become a Motoring Advisor at Motor City MINI! I interviewed today with the sales manager, we seemed to click well, and he was amazed at the work I've done with you guys for the CWFAC, which is of course, major cool stuff.

No biased opinions now, do you guys think I'd be a good M.A.?

I don't need to switch into a new career, my position at Motorola is quite secure, however I've been looking for something new and fresh; a change of pace and perspective.

Cheers,
Ryan

P.S. lots of production status updates today! I'll post them in a bit

i think you would make an excellent M.A. ryan, you are totally dedicated to us, and i think that if you gave that to your customers, you'd totally have it down. being able to configure their minis and show it to them would be an excellent selling tool, i think...

just another two weeks or so...hehe!

Thanks for the words of encouragement Adam! I'd be even more dedicated to my MINI customers, since they'd be payin' my bankroll [kisses remote-future butts] I was a bit put off that my M.A. (who shall remain nameless, unless you ask) forgot to order my white wheels. It's a small detail, but not one that can be overlooked when ordering the car! I think it's important that the M.A. and Motorer have good communication on what the customer needs in terms of options and accessories, and it's the M.A.'s responsibility to make it happen! My quibble was slight, and my M.A. resolved it quickly, mostly due to my diligence in pestering ASKMINI about my Order Detail. (whew!) [sips glass of water]

(next topic...)

I'm starting to freak out a bit about if my MINI will get here (this is gonna sound insane) too early! I would really like (borderline need) to sell my Bimmer before I take delivery, and the last thing I wanna do is (gasp) cancel getting the MINI. I suppose I could tenatively ask the dealer how much I'd get shafted by trading it in, hmmm.

NARF!
Ryan

Ryan you'd make an excellent MA, actually, you kind of remind me of my MA! When I placed my order, he got so excited about the little details I was getting, that he did bring up the configuratar right there on his computer! When I asked for clear side markers, he was the one who suggested clear looks bulbs as well. The only difference is that I think you are actually even more knowledgeable about the car than most MA's and that really makes a difference. To tell you the truth, I'm a bit jelous, I've been thinking more and more lately that I'd really like to be an MA my self!

Also, I'm totally in the same boat as you guys, about taking delivery too early. It looks like my car is going to come just as I get ready to finish everything up for school, and my dealership is 4 and a half hours away!!!!! I don't know if I'll have the time to go up there and pick her up Plus the fact that I don't know if I'll even be a good enough shifter then, and I'm extremely scared to take a car a can't really drive into NY city! My stupid EDD is exactly 2 days after my spring break ends!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this is terrible, but I think what I'll end up having to do, is to go and pick up the car, and then leave it at my mother's house untill I graduate in MAY and then have the time to really get to know the car. How much does that suck?

I was afraid to mention it, but I too may get my Mini a little early. My current lease comes due May 16th but it looks like my mini will arrive in Stamford at the end of March! (Which bugs me a little cause if they would have waited to place the order I could have gotten my heated seats) Oh well, I guess it's not the worst problem to have

Ryan - you would be fantastic MA! Good luck!

Ryan:
I've been laid off now for about 2 1/2 weeks...I can tell you...if there was a MINI dealer in my area I'd be a MA right now. Nothing else seems to spark an interest with me. I'm tired of the field I've been in the last 25 years, kind of like yourself. Your knowledge base would be very helpful to a prospective customer...better still, you come to the field as an enthusiast. You're perfect for the job!!! Good Luck!!!

Adam:

Why don't you and Ryan try having your cars auctioned!?! Unless you trade, this would probably be quicker than trying to sell on the net or in the classified, IMHO. Good Luck!

Today's map includes the Medea and the Carmen, which estimated to be in Belgium and Germany respectively. And also the Libra Leader, which I believe was supposed to hit P. Huan. yesterday? But since I haven't heard anything, and still no location reporting, I have placed it just off the coastline.

Sandra,

According to the shipping web site, your car was received at the port on 3/7 and is booked on the Carmen. As you can see, the shipping web site is often a better site for current status at this stage of the game (status 160-195)
