Can ANYBODY further my education here? I haven't seen the Jingu Marus' callsign [JPPT] on thet magic ship-tracking map provided by one of us. For all us landlubbers, what's the procedure/requirements for cargo ships? Do they broadcast their whereabouts occasionally? Continuously? When the captain sobers up?
Some of them are pretty random. I think the Jingu Maru may have landed. I saw a post on the march club that said her load was delivered.

My understanding is this, cargo ships are NOT required to post their positions, but many participate in the VOS (Voluntary Observing Ship) program. In this program, ships will radio in weather reports, i.e. temp, wind, wave height, etc., as well as their position to monitoring authorities. As this program is voluntary, not all ships do it, or do it regularly, hence the reasons ships will occasionally 'appear' and 'disappear'. It is from these sources that we are able to track a ship's progress. I would wager that the ships report in quite regularly with their companies, and that they know where they are. But they don't report this to the public. Hopefully this answers your questions and clarifies their reporting.

I spoke to ASKMINI and they told me that while Gates is done, she has not yet made it on the train. So we're still waiting in Oxford. I guess. Though. this was the update from yesterday...I have hope that we'll get to Southy quickly!
>><<Anybody have any idea how many MINIs roll off the line there in Oxford each day?
>>
>>I think it is more like 125,000 per year so somewhere in the low 300's per day.
>>
>>My concern is that every vehicle accepted at the docks after 8am yesterday has been designated as waitlisted. Does anyone know if this is common or if it looks like we are going to be bumped to the next boat? As of this afternoon, 453 vehicles were booked on the Carmen (with everything since yesterday waitlisted).
>>
>>By the way, Ryan, I just checked and your MCS (TD66772) has now made it to the Boat and you're waitlisted on the Carmen.
>>
>>I guess I win the race to the boat. You buy the beer on the crossing. I'll pick up the munchies. What do you like?
HFRANKS:
Where do you look to find status on VINs?

>>Ryan: I'm at 160, but don't know what ship I'll be on. MINI said I wouldn't know until I was actually on the ship. Is there anyway to know prior? I'm TD66891. Thanks

I just spoke to my dealer. The Jingu Maru in supposed to dock in Newark. I am asking them to hold my mini til my bday in April, so he said they will leave it at a BMW lot until then. I don't know for sure where the lot is, but I assume Newark. I feel like a bad parent leaving my baby in Newark for a month.
Are there any othe Jingu Maru passengers who might keep her company for a while?

Owners Lounge just updated me to an estimated delivery date of 3/20!!! So soon! Too bad that delivery date is for Indianapolis, and I live in Los Angeles! And the cash issue...anyone want to buy a 1990 Jeep?

While other have described it here is the way to track your car.
First, go to the shipping company's web site:
Wallenius Wilhelmsen App Tracking
Next, select Track by Cargo Auto. Enter the last 7 digits of your VIN (e.g., TD12345). This will tell you if you car has been received at the docks, what boat it is on and the booking number. It will not show if you are confirmed on the boat or waitlisted.
Next, notice your Booking Number. This is the booking number for all Mini's on your boat. Go back to the main tracking page and select search by Booking Number. Put this number in. For example, everyone on the Carmen is GBSOU117320. This will generate a list of all mini's on that voyage. It is only on this page(s) where it will show which cars are confirmed and which are waitlisted (shown with an asteric).

so, do we have a definite here? has the jingu maru dropped off the cars for all you folks up north? she's got another stop to make in SC, and Morgan and i are having separation anxiety.
i checked the owners lounge: folks who have cars on the jingu that are going to SC should expect their cars around 3/24/03!
thats only like 11 days away, i gotta go get ready!!!

OK! Grover is complete!
According to my friends at ASKMINI, he is patiently waiting now for a ride over to the Carmen. In the mean time, I believe he was looking at appropriate dinnerwear for the cruise over and reviewing the activity schedule for the cruise.
Grover - Status 160, born one day early!

Zero, I just checked to see if the Jingu Maru has indeed arrived in Newark and according to it's schedule, it looks like the Jingu Maru will be leaving New York tomorrow and should arrive in Charleston on Sunday, the 16th!!
Update. Apparently my car never reached the VPC like I was originally told. Reached port in CA on Monday and as of Thursday p.m. it's still sitting at the port. Hasn't even made it to the VPC. Some sort of delay is holding up all of the cars at the port.
SWEET. I was cranky already. These delays SUCK. Can't wait to see what my luck will be once it finally makes it over to the VPC???

Yesterday I was 152 Paint Shop started.
24 hours later, James at ASK MINI advised that my car is 160 Released to Distribution.   Happy Birthday!
So in 24 hours it went to 153 Assembly started, 155 Assembly Completed. Hope they did not rush the little guy down the line.

Good afternoon everyone! Great to hear lots of MINI's have been moving down the production line. I'm not gonna post the production status list until everyone gets off the couch and updates (although most already have  )
Some of my co-workers are getting almost as excited as I am about getting th MINI, they keep asking "Did you get it yet!?" There's about 60 people in my office, so if they all want rides, I'll be charging for sure
Taa Taa for now,
Ryan
