R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
Gates is currently strolling around the crowd at the docks. She has plans to play a lot of shuffleboard, and stuff herself at the lobster and prime rib buffet. Tell your MINI's to look for her, she'll be the southern vision in white...
C'mon Carmen!
C'mon Carmen!
Heeeeeeyyyyyyyy, did anyone notice that the Jingu Maru has two arrival dates for NY? they list it as the 13th and then underneath they list it as the 14th. They have also changed the departure date from the 14th to the 16th. Sorry, for the bad news, but it looks like nothing will be happening to Jingu Maru group until Monday.

Things are rolling along. Waldo has become 182 "Released to Carrier" last night.
Does that mean he is taking a choo choo ride or is he waiting to buy a tickets?
Where's Waldo!
Hope he has company od lots of CWFA family there on that train platform.
How did you more seasoned parents deal with this stage? OMG

>>Heeeellllloooooooo, is annnyyyybbbbbooddddyyyy hhhooooommmeeeeee?????
Just me.
Looking for Waldo. Anyone seen him? They released him, and they said someone would pick him up.
On a train. To some boat.
OK. I am not going to sleep.

Red, calm down
You still have a few weeks before you get to meet your MINI!
well, now that you mention it, my friend said he saw waldo getting on a train right behind another PS/B, and right in front of a IB/W, hmmmm Waldo apparently has fellow MINI bodyguards
knowing that your MINI has bodyguards should be soothing enough to let you sleep, yes?
Cheers,
Ryan

They're probably hangin' out down at the docks, seeing what kind of shenanigans they can get into, before the hit the high seas.

Andy,
Thanks for the help. I got here late but I'm catching up fast...I checked out your CR/B on the CWFAC page. I love that combination, I really didn't seriously consider any others. For me it's a combination of the colors from my 2 favorite previous cars, a black on black VW cabriolet and a screaming red 65 Karmann Ghia. (It also happens to be the school colors at the high school where I teach, that should buy me some grief from the students)
I came really close to doing the bonnet stripes but didn't, not sure why I do like them...maybe someday
I have seen 3-4 MINIs motoring around Austin, but no red/black combos. How are the views in CA?
I found out today that I'm at150 and they told me at ASKMINI that shadowfax will move into the body shop this weekend...tick,tick,tick

OK, here's something else to ponder over. The docks are by water right, and what flys around the sea and LOVES NICE NEW SHINEY CARS.... well don't know about you but my love has been sitting there for over a week.
shoo bird shoo....

Hi Chef,
I was set on getting a green with white top. Never even considered the red/black combo. When I visited Concord MINI, they had several red/blacks on the lot, and I realized that was the combo that I wanted. I've never had a red car before. Go figure. I could have driven one home that day, except they had all kinds of overpriced junk on the car that I wasn't going to pay for like $900 paint treatment, $800 driving lights. I loke driving lights, but not $800 ones.

Not only is there bird doo-doo to freakout about, but also all this salt-air our abused MINI's will be exposed too! What's a fanatical owner to do?
I had my M.A. write down on the front of my folder not to detail the car, I have the knowledge and product to do a "real" job. First thing when the car get's home is to wash using Zymol Clear, dry using microfiber waffle weave. Up next is a full Clay-Bar rubdown, to get all that yukkie stuff off the paint! After that will be yet another round of bath (to remove excess clay residue), followed by a coat of Zymol Concours white caranuba blend. For a finishing touch, I like to do a final buff with Wizards Mist-n-Shine, a non-silicone glossifier. While that was just for the paint, there's a whole slew of crap to do in order to properly "prep" a new car (or rejuvinate an older one).
I have no doubt it's gonna take me an entire sun-up-to-sun-down to get the car cleaned on day 1, yikes! I hope I'm overestimating, cuz the MINI doesn't have all that much to clean
Cheers,
Ryan

>>Ok, when is the WW web site going to update the status on the carmen? It should sail today. I'm tired of waiting. I want to get off the waitlist and on the boat.
According to the WW website, it looks like the Carmen is actually supposed to arrive in Southampton today, and depart tomorrow. Seems like a lot of cars to load in a short time. Hope they're careful!!

I've been wondering about the transport process. How are the MINIs loaded (and on what), from the plant to the dock...then, how are they loaded into the Carmen? Are a number of them on pallets???? Anyone know this kind of stuff???
