Yes, I am installing XM. I have the Delphi unit which I use at home. I plan on mounting it under the toggle switches (in the cubby holeand glass mounting an antenna. The orange display matches the dash lights pretty well. The only unknown is the AUX input (or lack off) on the HK. My MA said my MCS will have it when pick it up .

The grat thing about this unit is you can remove it from the car and use it at home or in a "BoomBox".

XM is first rate, haven't tried their competition (which BMW embraces).

don't hate me! I went through VIN by VIN and found that td66771 is at the port and booked, td6675 is booked and there... but the cars inbetween are not. Think they decided to take a short detour to party?

td66778, TD66781-6, 87, 90-91, 94, 97 are there, though. Guess they're just not sticking together too well!

All depends on what color it os too. If they have a run on lets say red, the cars will back up in the paint booth and slow down getting to the production line. So if you orderd a color that every one else wants, you'll have to wait in line.

Just thought I'd stop by and fluff a bit. Sure beats working. Aaron said that 'Grover' is still drying in the paint booth. I wish he'd get his Muppet rear in gear and start making for Carmen. Checked the shipping site, and the highest VIN MC that has hit their books is TC44693. That means Grover is 66 vehicles from Carmen.

Save room for me guys! I'm coming!!

<<Anybody have any idea how many MINIs roll off the line there in Oxford each day?

I think it is more like 125,000 per year so somewhere in the low 300's per day.

My concern is that every vehicle accepted at the docks after 8am yesterday has been designated as waitlisted. Does anyone know if this is common or if it looks like we are going to be bumped to the next boat? As of this afternoon, 453 vehicles were booked on the Carmen (with everything since yesterday waitlisted).

By the way, Ryan, I just checked and your MCS (TD66772) has now made it to the Boat and you're waitlisted on the Carmen.

I guess I win the race to the boat. You buy the beer on the crossing. I'll pick up the munchies. What do you like?

So, heaven forbid and we miss the boat (no pun intended), that would put us on the Aida heading out on 3/21, arriving NYC on 3/30?

AskMini updated Delores to 193 (it was updated over the night).

I am a little worried about this waitlist thing for some of the other 3/14's. Try to stay positive! Another oddity is that the W&W cargo site has my MCS (TD66698) being booked on 14 FEB but others in the same week (TD66722) were booked yesterday (Booked date).

Ryephil, if you (hopefully) become an MA, I hope you can explain some of these mysteries.

As for what I test drove besides a MINI - Land Rover Discovery II. I like them but a bit too small, really. Less room than my Trooper. There are rumors that Rover is bringing back the Defender (90,110, 130) in '04 so my MINI will hold me over until then. I will just have to pack lighter. (That's also why I getting the luggage rack).

How funny. That's what I test drove. It was between a MINI and a Rover. What a odd set of extremes! From an SUV to the smallest car on the road! I thought I was the only crazy person to joggle between the two.

About waitlists....I was waitlisted for the Jingu Maru from March 1-3. I kept checking on the 3rd b/c that's the day it set sail. I was waitlisted in the morning and when I checked again in the afternoon my mini was taking her first boat ride! So you never know what's going to happen, but don't fret over the waitlist too much.

I wasn't looking at anything. The MINI is an incremental car! The Acura RSX looked nice, but never considered buying it.

I just could not believe I could buy a modern version of my 1966 Austin Mini S!

Yippee!

I'm waitlisted for the carmen as well...

what else did I look at? Well... just to be able to defend myself that I didn't go out and buy the only car that I drove.. I took a look at the WRX. Decent car, just not my thing. I felt like I had to strangle it to get the turbos to spool, the interior wasn't nearly as nice as the MINI's... Of course, the performance and awd would have been nice, but it jsut didn't click with me the same way the MINI did. I didn't want to hug it! I didn't want to sleep in it!

My co-workers would probably have preferred I got something that I wasn't QUITE so excited about.

They just don't get it!

Hey Jingu Maru Folks,

Cars are due to Port B. on Friday. Does anyone have any guesses as to when the cars will be on trucks? Start a Poll?

Does the VDC/VPC operate on the weekends? I thought I saw a post that said it did. At least our MINI's will have an awesome weekend in NY. 55-60 Saturday and Sunday. We should get our cars just in time for Spring!

I didn't look at anything else. I drove the MINI and I was hooked. The funny thing is that I wasn't even considering a new car. I just went to drive it for fun. My MA was so cool and informative. I had the most fun driving it and the rest just fell nicely into place. I think it;s the best car for the money and the most fun you can have, legally that is.

Motor on! Bonzo comes to shore Friday and I'm praying for a quick process from VDC to dealership. I can use the help if anyone cares.

The VPC is open 5 days a week, 12 hours a day. This means you MINI's on the Jingu Maru will be hanging out together this weekend

Owners: make sure your MINI doesn't lift off any other MINI's protective plastic! (naughty MINI's!)

seems that the WW site is screwed up right now (hmpf!)

oh well, ttyl

Ryan -

Wouldn't you know that you go and get the list updated before I have a chance to e-mail you. Talked to my buddy Jen tonight, and she said that the paint is dry, the Indi Blue looks great with the White roof, and that Grover is off to Assembly. So if you could be so kind as to bump me up! Woo-hoo, Southampton here we come!

you know, I think we need a theme song.. something for our MINIs to sing as they invade the ports/boats/vpc together. Anyone got a vote?

why the delay getting off the dock? Too much partying amongst the MINI's?

Rachel, I can't think of a normal theme song, I love the mix for the Factory Tour video, that is hot stuff, and definitely British too!

Cheers,
Ryan

I think the Peugots and Renaults couldn't decide what do do at the port in Belgium.

Maybe I just checked sooner than Gr8brit, but at least I'm not the last 3/21 build to get into production. As of this morning, Quinn's MINI (can't be named until I drive it) is in progress (150) and has VIN #TD67266. Woohoo!

But seeing how slow the ships seem to be moving, it seems this wait isn't getting easier anytime soon. Oh well.

Quinn
