>>Now that a bunch of us are sailing on the Carmen, I have a question for you. Have any of you received anything from MINI-USA or your dealer. Things we have heard about like the unofficial motoring guide, the custom CD or the information to select your custom programing choices? I haven't heard anything. Maybe those were goodies only for the first year and we have to do without?
>>

nothing received here... *sob*

what, we're just not *special* enough?!

Hey April clubbers.

We are within 10 pages of the Feb club. Since they are busy motoring, and we are busy fretting about our "out in the middle of the ocean" minis, we sould be able to catch them.

After all what else is there to race?

Let's get em!

Andy, the MINI's aren't about racing, they're about Motoring; a chill, relaxing and fun event that soothes and invigorates the soul, scintillates the senses and displays masterful mechanical prowess. The slower you go, the more time to Motor!

[In his best Barry White voice] "Oooooohhhh yyyeeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!"

Cheers,
Ryan

Good point Ryan,

Meanwhile, while we wait patiently for our motoring minis to provide that soul soothing motoring experience, why not use things that are all about speed, I.E. microprocessors and bandwidth to race!

Post on!!!!!

UPDATE: I found out today that Ebenezer was put on a truck and is headed to CO. It should be arriving here in the next couple of days during what will probably be our biggest snowstorm in 6 yrs. Could slow delivery I supposed. The forecasters are tentatively calling for a BLIZZARD (we are currently suffering a multi-year drought - how's that for ironic) From what I could tell it was not in the VPC very long (a day or two). I'll keep you updated as I receive further info. As always, thanks for keeping all of us updated on a daily basis! Safe travel to all in this part of the country!!!   (Looks like I may have delivery before April after all)

MC VR/W, chrome, 3 pkgs, xenon, HK, sunroof, leather, big smile
Ebbey is booked on the Libra Leader out of Southhampton on 2-18-03. He's scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme, CA on 3-10-03. Final Destination: Colorado

I was wondering when they ask about the programmable items. Is the email a checklist that you just send back?
I was going to call my MA when it got closer.

Just noticed that MINI of the Hamptons is now a sponsor. I told them there are folks who need MINI's and can't wait 6 months!

When you register on owners lounge the email address you used should get an email that contains a link to a MINIUSA.com url that allows you to select via a webpage what options you want...this then generates an email or snail mail that gets sent to the dealer.

Just checked wit the shipping website and it states Waldo arrived at the dock 7:49 AM on 3/15 and loaded on the Carmen at 3:33 PM on 3/16. And it was "booked on 2/14/03".

Is this an error? Was Waldo one of the last to get on the Carmen?

Here is what one of our other members found for me last Friday:

>>VESSEL: TOSCA VOYAGE: EQ308-TOS
>> Port Country Arrival Departure
>>BREMERHAVEN GERMANY 23/03/2003 24/03/2003
>>SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM 26/03/2003 26/03/2003
>>NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. 04/04/2003 05/04/2003
>>CHARLESTON,SC U.S.A. 07/04/2003 07/04/200

Red my car was booked on the Jingu, January 10th! I'm thinking maybe mini goes ahead and books a spot for you as soon as your order is stat 112, and that might account for the reason that so many get waitlisted?

For those of us trying to catch up with the Feb club, I thought of another poll question for us all today(it's REALLY out there though):
What shoes will you wear when you pick up your mini?
The weather was actually spring like today, and as I was dusting off my old low-top converse, I realized they are just about the exact same color as my VR mini. Then I started thinking how converse have notoriously flimsy souls, and that wearing them in the mini, I'd be able to really feel those petals(pushing down to the metal!). Just a funny idea I had I guess.

That's a great question Katie! I have so many shoes, I'll have to really think about it Match my roof and wheels perfect!

I've got another question; will there be a specific CD you'll first put in when you pick up your MINI? I'm not sure I can say, it'll be whatever mood hits me, which will be most likely ELATED!

Cheers,
Ryan

Just checked Mini.com and got a 4/4/03 estimated production date for my EB/B, 3 pack, HK, Auto wipers/mirror, Lapis Blue. Does this put me in the club?

Should look like this minus stripes and spots

sigh...a victim of coordination: i went out and bought a pair of black Adidas Samba's...but what can i say? they're a lot like the converses: nice thin soles.

I'll be throwing in New Found Glory: Nothing Gold Can Stay

but that's just the first CD...i'm getting the mini cd holder: 20 cd's of music fun!

which brings me to my next question: are any of you guys planning on going to Deal's Gap for the Tail of the Dragon meet? i know i'll be there!

I'm planning on Deal's Gap too!
That would be awesome to have a bunch of us meet there!

Also, Welcome Bustov, I see you got my PM You can definitely be in our club.
I'll update the webpage and stuff to include your MCS. Also, do you have a car the MINI is replacing, and what dealership did you go thru?

Cheers,
Ryan

But you got on the Jingu, and my guess is everyone's car gets scheduled for a ship when they go 112. So why are there waitlists? Too many BMW's aboard from the ship's first stop?

What's more accurate, Wilhelmsen or ASK MINI?

Is your MINI still at the dock? Do you have any idea how long it will take to reach your dealer? Good luck!

OK, now to the serious questions:

Sneakers for good grip till I am comfortable with the little beast.

A Moody Blues CD to test the sound system (but not too loud till speakers loosen up). But even then for just a couple of minutes.

I plan to listen to the sweet supercharger sound for a while. My first Mini did not even have a radio!

Most definately will be wearing sneakers (i don't think i own any other kind of shoes!). Don't have any blue and white sneakers to match my car, so my white and green velcro Golas will have to do.
As for what CD....I will be bumping the same CD I brought when i first test drove the mini. Chicago House Maestro, Derrick L. Carter's "About Now." Funkiest House mix on any planet, from the Legend himself. Any of you April Clubbers that are into quality bumpin' house w/ soul, need to cop this cd asap! That will definately get the HK system warmed up.

My wife thought I was nuts (maybe she's right) but y'all will surely understand
I burned a CD just for the first drive and I won't play it until then. Here's the playlist...

Sunshine Pig Chris and Tad
(from MINI production #1)
Hot Rod Lincoln Commander Cody
Roadrunner The Modern Lovers
Brand New Cadillac Clash
Crankshaft Fiends
Devil In My Car B-52's
Warm Leatherette Grace Jones
5ive Gears In Reverse Elvis Costello
Let's Buzz The Paladins
Mustang Sally Wilson Pickett
Route 66 Rolling Stones
Born To Run Bruce Springsteen
Middle Of The Road The Pretenders
Rev It Up & Go Stray Cats
Cadillac Cruisin' Keith Joe **** & The Goners
Get Out Of My Way! Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper
Behind The Wheel Tailgators
I'm In Love With My Car Queen
Cars Gary Numan
Autobahn Kraftwerk
Beep Beep The Playmates

It also starts with the sound of a MINI engine starting up and ends with the sound of a MINI horn honking. If you want the sound fx and many more, check outMINI sounds.

I didn't get a chance to call askmini today it was our first day back from spring break and we were WICKED busy.Last I heard I was moving into the body shop yesterday or today...I promise I'll call tomorrow...
Don't know about shoes yet, probably not my kitchen clogs tho...

Peace out, MINIacs

Unbelievable!!! I was at the docks on 3/5/03 and still got past over to get on the Carmen, now i'm just on the waiting list for the next ship. I see its not 1st come 1st served.

Derrick Carter is awesome, but my current God is Derrick May. Seeing May spin live is about the most Holy thing I've ever felt in my life! [gets weak in the knees] Oh gosh, my Detroit roots are bleeding through!

Cheers,
Ryan

P.S. ChefRichie, your page of the MINI sounds are Awesome!

Ryan, glad to see someone appreciates great dance music. Derrick May is the legendary as well. Had the chance to see him and Kevin Saunderson do a 2x4 a while back in Miami....insane stuff. True Detroit techno mixed w/ jackin' house....a perfect combination.
