Andy - the carnuba topping over the synthetics are not "compatible" per se. They do offer excellent optics and temporary protection in addition to the synthetic, however it only take a few weeks for the carnuba to slide off the synthetic. By the time you're ready to put another coat of carnuba on, the last one is most likely already gone!

Thanks for the quickie comparo

Hey Ryan what do you think about Pinnacle? I have a can of Sovereign in the garage. I used it on my S2000 and Boxster with good results. Since I've been without the Porsche for a couple of years I've forgotten what I used for a glaze, but the Pinnacle looked nice on the red S2K...couldn't really tell on the yellow Boxster. I like Pinnacle since it goes on/off like buttah. It makes Zaino seem like regular ole paste wax (as far as application/removal). I always kept a bottle of the spray carnuba around and used it every few days. That seemed to keep the Pinnacle shine around quite a while. Since I get my CR/W MCS in a month it's almost time to start the process over again. I thought about starting with Zaino again (ZFX wasn't around the last time), but I still remember what a pain Zaino was/compare to the Pinnacle.

Speaking of paint..my MCS went into the body shop yesterday. It's getting close!!

I'm at the dealer. Should be jcw'ed within a couple of days, then onto the truck.

And... I think I have a solid buyer for my Cooper! Everything is coming together nicely. Excellent...

My carnuba tends to last longer than a few weeks, but the application is SO easy that it's literally a few minutes after the car is dried to complete this step so I don't mind repeating the fun every few washes.

I'm still loving the Poorboy's World brand that I've been working with. (http://www.poorboysworld.com). Really nice guy, always happy to answer questions. And the stuff smelllllllls so nice as well as working as well as anything out there!

I've brought a few friends over to the dark side. A couple that I've known for years is test-driving Minis today (yay!). They're looking to order an Electric Blue/Black S. They're purposely NOT driving my car first (and just WAIT until the end of the summer.. muhahaha).

I did the rest of my car with NXT and then used the spray wax booster. It actually looks pretty good. Much easier than Zaino.

And a bonus too. According to a top secret mathmatical formula hacked from CIA classified computers it increases HP by .023576.

Beat that Zymol

Wow, never knew car wax could generate so much discussion...

Here's a pic of my S at the dealer, waiting to be Works-ified.

I bet thats torture man, I hope it doesn't take too long to install.

So is this week 12 now? By my count of the calendar, week 12 is either this week, or last week, I'm not sure exactly how they count it.

Thanks, but the wait is not too bad. I've got my Cooper to drive. But the weather here in norcal has been sweet lately, and I'm so looking forward to opening the sun roof, snicking through the Getrag, and feeling all that extra torque under my right foot!

Sweet car! Aren't you a bit curious about a "before and after" test? If it were my car, I would break it in first, then have the kit installed, to see the difference.

Good luck!

regards,
Red

Congrats on your arrival XAlfa. Along what Red said; as long as you be nice and break in your engine, everything will be fine. A before and after would be nice, just to have a sensory experience on what your $$$$ bought you, sort to speak.

I don't know about gas mileage but I did discover another benefit of NXT. It repels other cars. I took a drive down to Highway 1 yesterday to enjoy the weather and maybe get in a few twisties. I headed North from Jenner toward Fort Ross and got 10 miles of un-encumbered coastal twisties. Lots of cars going south, but none to slow progress to the north. It was fabulous! twisty roads, jagged surf 1,000 feet below and no slowpokes on the road. I finally caught up with a Volvo Turbo and pulled over to head back. The only thing I can attribute an empty Pacific Coast Highway on a Saturday is the auto repellent properties on NXT. This stuff is amazing.

Xalfa, get on down the the store and get yourself some and shine up that JCW as soon as it's yours!

Andy

Speaking of the JCW Kit. Its really something I'd like to get on my MINI but I can't afford it. Is it something you can get put on any time? Like a year from now if they were still offering the kit, could I go to the dealer and ask to have it installed?

Since the JCW kit is dealer installed I would think you could add it later on.

Thanks. I've seen and driven a couple of all DS cars, and I think they look great in the flesh. I came close to doing the black roof, but after seeing a couple live, decided that, while it definitely works, it didn't work for me.

I think I'll have a pretty decent "before and after" experience - that's what test drives are for, dude!! So I think I've got the "before" pretty well covered. I can always do another test drive or two after breaking in the works engine, but not sure I'll feel the need.

totally awesome - the NAM Store now has Dragon '04 gear! I scored myself a t-shirt and a customized button Sorry for the major plug, but I'm excited.

I think I've asked this already, but oh well; who else is gonna be at Deals Gap this year? Ahem, Rachel? Cheffie, are you and Miss Pebbles driving out together?

--->XAlfa; good call on the cash savings, I'd do the same in your shoes (or boots, sandals....whatever)

Hey guys...anyone else on the Andes Highway? Right now there are 75 of us waiting for the ship to arrive later this week. It would be cool to see who else is making the voyage across the pond. Hopefully, the captain is obsessive (to the point of being really, really, scary) about making weather reports to the Coast Guard. LOL!

Yeah, I agree. $1,500 would make the difference for me, too. I did not know there was such a big discount when installed new. Thought it was the same whenever you did it.

Your break in is going to require a lot more self control than a standard "S"! More HP is always a good thing. Enjoy!

Red

Busy night for me:
*changed oil and filter. Switched to Royal Purple 5W-30 (lol, it's actually purple, who knew!)
*re-installed my Denso IK22's, making sure to torque them correctly
*washed up the summer rubber and rims, swapped out the winter shoes
*clamped on for dear life riding in my dad's truck (helped him load up some stuff he bought at Lowe's Home Improvement
*got back in the MINI, and grinned my way home (LOVE the summer rubber!)

Motor-On,
Ryan

>>I'm on the Hual Triton. It was supposed to dock on the 15th. Then it got pushed back to the 19th, then the 20th, then the 22nd. Now they gave up and went on to Brunswick and will be returning to dock at Charleston on the 25th. They're driving me absolutly nuts!
>>

Man I hope that they get you off the ship ASAP INS!! I would be totally pulling my hair out! Mine isn't due to hit Charleston until April 10 (yep that would be 14 freakin' days after setting sail!!). I may develop calluses on my thumbs from all the twiddling. I need a fix and I need it fast. I need to find a new MINI book or something of the sort to pass the time.

It doesn't help when Ryan taunts us about all the happy motoring he's going to have to endure now that he has the winter tires off. Poo on you! j/k Happy Motoring Ryan and here's to happy motoring to all of us in limbo.

I SO would, but boyfriend doesn't have very much vacation time left and I can't really stomach driving alone more than a few hours at a time. I can manage to follow someone for 5-6 hours at a stretch, but I get too bored and sleepy otherwise after more than 3 hours. I'd take WEEKS getting out there! Not that they wouldn 't be very *fun* weeks..

I'm still not trusting that winter's over yet so I'm not taking off the skinnies, but I DID look over some older pics of my car last summer after a detailing-fest. It's making me depressed.
Clean, shiney, smooooooth

Mini at the track (if you want a good picture, don't take the correct line!)

and a picture of myself Picture of me!
