Checking in: I was in Galion, OH this weekend for Randy's Pulley Party. As usual, it was a blast, even though I didn't get anything done. Well, except I grabbed a set of Nology's (in blue, of course)

Actually my dad has an SVT Focus. Its a pretty sweet car, its really what prompted me to get a MINI. I loved the power in such a small package.

*sob* I used to live 5 minutes away from there (grew up in Lexington, home of Mid-Ohio).

'luck with the move!

Yokos are definitely less happy when it's freezing outside (at least we dodged the snow!). Spring, where ARE you?!

Okay, I'm slow. I just discovered that silblades don't work well on the rears of the minis. I'm sure it's been discussed everywhere else, but, well... I thought I'd share it here too in case someone else is only really reading this thread

It's too bad. They're AWESOME blades... but they only clean half of my rear window

Original CWFAC members. It's time for state inspection. Any stories out there?

Brought it to a local garage? MINI dealer?

For some reason my MCS was delivered with an emissions/safety sticker. I thought brand new cars are not emission checked?

Regards,
Red

State of the Motor City has the ironic statute to NOT have yearly safety or emissions inspections. Once you drive off the lot - you're free to mod whatever you want and puke as much smog as possible. Nice...not!

I got a call from my dealer today that my MCS is on the truck heading from the VDC to Buffalo! I'm picking it up Friday morning after they install the AUX input. Hooray for the long weekend!

Inspections... yeaaah... I'll probably have SO take my car in so he can actually drive it into the bay himself and supervise them. The 'guys' won't generally let me do the same with my car. What's with that?!

My car had to be inspected twice when I got it - once for New York (where I bought it) and again for Massachusetts. It's a huge money racket here. I know in Ohio you pretty much got to drive around until they set up a random stop, collected a certain number of cars to check, and then let everyone go. I only ever got stopped when I was late getting somewhere

I've got another place that I won't take my car for wheel work... what kind of reject puts the wrong headed lug on the car and doesn't think I'll notice? Wrong color, wrong head.. *sigh* They did great work with my boyfriend's car

I hate being mistaken for a stereotypical 'chick'!

HOORAY!! I just got a call from my dealer!! MY MINI IS IN!! He said the earliest I could pick it up would be tuesday of next week. He left a message on my voicemail (i'm in class, isn't wireless internet great?), so I've gotta call him back. He said he wanted to talk to me about stuff they're going to install (probably wants to try to sell me that invisishield for 995 again, not gonna happen). Boy, I'm so excited, this is going to be the longest class yet!

Congratulations! R U passing out cigars? I understand the correct term is mother has broken her water and delivery is eminent.
We have a Chili Red on Red MCS in the birthing canal as we speak. Our delivery date is set for May 1. Which takes me to some questions. The vary day we take delivery this little darling will be put to the test. She will need to drive her new owners 2000 miles. Over mountain ranges exceeding 11k feet.
Does any1 have any comments or advice for us? Things to watch out for during this type of break in? We don’t want to hurt our new born. Is it best to run the higher Octane or can we get by at the lower because of all the H/W driving? We’re going with the bra instead of that plastic stuff for the drive. I’m old fashion, I like the look, hold everything firmly in place, lifts and separates, so to speak.
Happy motoring!

Congrats! It's so exciting! I still smile when I see my car. And people are still asking me if it's new.

Umm.. advice for breaking in... try to avoid staying at the same RPM's for extended periods of time. Use a range of RPM's. Your dealer will tell you not to exceed a certain maximum RPM.... ermm.. try not to. Try hard, but none of us'll tattle if you open it up just a little bit.

I'd opt for the higher octane, frankly. I'd worry too much about detonation and pinging if I used anything less than 93. That's just me, though.

Rememeber the camera!

Where are you picking up & driving to?

My wife and I will be doing the same! Our BRG/W MCS is awaiting transport as I write this. We're in Seattle, but I purchased through Minneapolis (for the MUCH shorter leadtime than what's available here on the west coast). 1700 miles. We're going to detour to hit Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park.

Hopefully I'll make the April Club too. More realisticly though, the May Club.

Wow! Detroit sounds great if you have a nice collectible old car (like my 69 Caddy), but not for most people.

Sounds like you have a lot of "mobile junkyards" floating around out there. Bet they make great pylons!

Thanks! Cigars eh...that could be a good idea

As far as the 11k+ feet, I wouldn't worry too much about it with the MCS, the supercharger should power right through it.

Its funny people talk about not exceeding a certain RPM during break in. When my dad got his SVT focus he was bombing around in it, taking the RPMs way passed 6000, he couldn't help it. I think I'm gonna be even worse

Rfath, Yes I haven’t felt this way about a car in a long time. Yesterday I was at a stoplight and in comes a dks/w mcs; funny how we react when we see them. Been a 911 Carrera Cab owner & that car never gave me these feelings. Thanks for the RPM advice, I’ll be sure and do that. I kind of felt that way also about the octane, just wanted to hear it from others, thanks!

Rideklein, In Oklahoma! Then we look to the west and head towards the Pacific Ocean. Once there we head North to a little town called Cambrian Ca. along side San Jose Ca. Looks like you’ll be traveling a bit farther than us, I just rounded off the miles cause I figure I’ll make a few detours, like the Grand Canyon & just about any windy road I can find. Minneapolis? Mt. Rushmore? Yellowstone? Yaaaaaaaa! Now we’re talking. That sounds like fun! Locally these dealers have their greed stickers on. I agree with fair trade, but price GOUGING? No way I’m going to go along with that.

TheWrkncacnter, I’ll be passing out cigars all the way home!

Ryephile, Thanks for the welcome! Pictures you bet cha!

We have heard about the ride with the 17’s, I’m 50 years old now, Is my bum going to feel like it’s been driven over 2000 miles?

My MCS just left the VDC and is on the way to the dealer. I should have an exact date later today; definitely less than two weeks.

I'm not excited at all. Really.

>>

Nah, you'll be too excited to worry about your bum! For the long haul, though, I'd suggest ditching the runflats as quickly as you can - the sidewalls on them make the ride way more harsh than just the wheel diameter would indicate. If you find you still don't like the way the car feels with the larger wheels, you can always step down a size.

I'm feeling funny stepping up from my 15" steelies (winters) to the 17" Rotas with real summer rubber... suddenly I can feel the road and actually get a response from the car! The car isn't dragging its chin on everything anymore either.

It's detailing weekend! I don't CARE what the weather'll be, I need to polish my car!

I picked up my MCS today! It's SOOOOO awesome! It looks so beautiful. Everything is better than I hoped it would be so far. The Xenon headlights light up the road very nice.... Aw heck, there are too many cool things to even begin listing! It drives SOOOOO nice!

Congrats Copi.

I just confirmed with the dealer Mini of Pittsburgh, that my MC is due in 1-1/2 weeks. I checked, and it hit the port today on the Takasago. It's on U.S. shores!!! I sold my car this week which was near perfect timing, considering I put her up for sale 2 months ago! 98 Acura Integra. I got the pay-off plus some for it, so I'm in the clear shhhhwww!!! Anyway, I CAN'T WAIT!! I'm going crazy!

CONGRATS Cöpi

Looks great; I dig the Space cloth with the EB, looks great!

Be nice for the break-in miles (even though it's very tempting to be sooo bad, hee hee), Happy Motoring!
