R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
>>WOOHOOO!!! My MCS is now awaiting transport, sweet!
>>
>>Man this is horrible, I can hardly contain myself, must stay focused for school...must stay focused...
Great memories arise when I read the excitement from you eagerly awaiting April Clubbers. You can make it.
Things to do.
1. Go over your mods list
2. Choose the music you will listen to on the way home
3. Select your wardrobe for the big day (yes, you must co-ordinate)
4. Get your camera ready. We want pics
5. Scout out good MINI roads. Find the best on-ramps to hammmer with your new ride. (This may mean you go the Loooooong way to school)
6. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
There are lots of other things to do, but remember, your day will come.
Rachel, great pics. One thing I love about MINIs is even if your line is a bit tight, you still can great exit speed. Go MINI!
One last question about your last pic. How do you fit in your car?
Just wondering

>>Hey theWrkncacnter!! Congrats on reaching the next stage. To me it seems like it may be the worst one of them all. What ship are you scheduled to board? Is it the Andes Highway?
Not sure, I'll have to call ASKMINI some time today or tomorrow.
*puts it on his to-do list*

Actually, the worst part of the wait is when you "lose contact" with the car once it hits the docks and VPC. Cheffie didn’t' nickname the VPC "Vehicle Prison Center" for nothing!

Do us proud and don't come home until you hit 250 HP at the wheels! Umm...kay.

>>Well, see, to get in my car I've got to have the seat *all* the way back and the sunroof and boot open. Then I take a DEEP breath...

Alright, looks like my car is going to be riding along with theWrkncacnter's! According to my dealer my MCS has a "born on date" of 03/23/04 and is now on the dock awaiting shipment. Now its really time to start getting excited!
I'm hoping that it'll get to Roadshow (Memphis) before April 20th so that I can pick her up and drive back to San Diego before I leave for my vacation. Otherwise she'l be sitting there for another few weeks while I go play in Hawaii - at least I'll have a reason to be excited about coming home.
BTW, had a last minute change of heart and switched from CR/W to EB/W. I know that red is faster (ask any CR owner) but EB is, well you know, Electric, so that's gotta be better for the environment or something...

Electric blue is SWEET. It would have been my choice if they didn't have British Racing Green. I saw a EB MCS drive down the road today while I was walking around campus, it looked HOT. Good choice
I called ASKMINI and they didn't have much info, they said that my MINI arrived at the docks on the 22nd, and they couldn't tell me much else. Guess I'll call my dealer tomorrow or something.

Whoohoo my 1st post! I ordered my EB/W MCS 7 weeks ago and it was complete thru build on 3/17 St. Patrick's day. It left the UK on the ship today! I'm hoping to pick it up just before Easter so I can have a 3 day weekend of motoring and grinning, not sure in which order!

>>Mini at the track (if you want a good picture, don't take the correct line!)
That is a cool picture, and makes me feel totally good about my all-DS S coming soon! For a while I was thinking chrome mirror caps would be cool, then saw some live and it seemed like too much bling. But looking at this shot, I think body-color mirrors might be the way to go on an all DS car.
Thoughts, anyone?

I'm beginning to think that my dealership is starting to go downhill. I made an appointment to take the car there this morning (had SO take it in) for some things that needed looked at: the doors and the stumble mostly, and some cosmetic stuff that's been irritating me. The trim above the windshield is getting horrible UV damage - the spots of fading are really obvious to me.
First the dealership frisked me about whether or not I bought the car from them (never asked me that before... since the car already has a history with them - my name was in the computer - does it really matter if they sold me the car?). Then SO shared his experiences there this morning.. I asked them to look at the rear wiper assembly since when I swapped to the silblades it stopped making contact with the rear window at the top half of the blade. The blade itself seems to be sitting fine, but the unit isn't right. I realize that it's aftermarket. I wasn't asking them to replace anything, just help me figure out what's wrong. They saw the silblade label and refused to look at it.
The UV damage they 'cannot duplicate'. Uh? What?
And the typical missing bolts in the intercooler scoop and crushed pcv hose they discovered upon inspection.
SO forgot to tell them to NOT WASH THE CAR. I'll forgive him that and work on getting what swirls they made off this weekend, but that's the least of the worries.( Not that SO knows that... relationships suck sometimes

I've always gotten the "Did you purchase the car from us?" question - been to 3 different dealers for service on my MC. The answer is always "no", because I bought mine used. Then I inevitably get the "WELL... then the first slot we have open is..." Seems like all the dealers around here definitely prioritize cars they sold in the service queue. So far this hasn't been a huge issue for me, but definitely doesn't give you a warm fuzzy.
It will be the same deal with my new car, as I bought out of state to avoid the &%#$(* wait lists and/or the ^&%$#(*&# mark ups that are the norm in CA.

X,
I just realized you are in the SF Bay area. I saw your ib for sale post. What dealer are you getting your new car from? I have had good service from SF. I'm in Santa ROsa.
Rachel, I used Klasse all in one on my plastic trim and it seems ot work well. It smells like parts cleaner so I figured maybe it would take off wax from the plastic. It has been two weeks since I applied it and the white hasn't come back like it does with back to black. Klasse claims all in one protects from UV. Preliminary observation is it may be a good solution for plastic trim.
NXT still rocks
Andy

Yeah - I'm in Berkeley. I'm getting my new car from Classic in OH. I think it's about ready to be loaded on to the truck for the trip out here!
I should try SF. Been to Concorde, Mountain View and Pleasanton already.

I just found out that my mini s has completed the build phase, and is "Awaiting Transport". Does anyone have an estimate on how long it will take the car to get to the dealership (Chicago)?
Thanks!:D
Thanks!:D
The MINI S is LY/B with the sport package minus the 17" wheels, 3 spoke multifunction, leather, HK, chrome grill, and mahogany shifter. I'm getting the SSR comp wheels ASAP. After the break-in period, I plan on driving down to Randy's place for a 200+ HP package.
Bay Area Boy here as well…
>> does it really matter if they sold me the car?).
The bad news is, yes it does matter. The "comforting" news is this something you will find with many, many other makes. Dealerships are very territorial by nature and (I believe) warrantee work is something that is more of a pain in the **** for them than anything else. There are dealerships on Steven’s Creek (San Jose, Ca) that will not service cars bought in Santa Cruz (35 miles away); which of course sell their cars cheaper. (I know of dealerships that REFUSE to trade with one another)
Dealerships think you already have the new car and once warrantee is up, your business will go to an indi-shop anyway. As a result their remaining closer time slots, especially for warrantee work, will be saved for “their” customers. Faulty thinking or not, sad to say, will be a moot point.
I don’t think too many people realize this…
Cheers,
Pound
bones - good stuff; don't see LY/B's very often. It'll look nice with those SSR Comp's (especially if you get 'em in Anthracite!) Did someone say 18"? hee hee
To answer your question, from build completion to keys in hand is approximately one month. Lucky Dog you being nearby to Randy's shop!

Congrats XAlfa!!! Your MINI looks sweeeeet! It's going to be awesome!
Hey I have a pic of my MINI too!! It's on it's way from Southampton to Charleston. A passerby snapped a pic and I managed to get a copy for myself. Enjoy!
