Ok - I hope this works. My sis-in-law came over with her mini yesterday and we gave them their first baths. I am the pale girl on the left  My mini is the one with the white stripes!

Here's another pic:

Looks like this week will be another hot one, with many April Clubbers taking delivery! Best of luck Sockdaddy, MiniMarc, Chef, Gr8brit, Pamato, and anyone else that's keeping it a secret!

Hfranks sent me this pic of his Chili Red and White MCS, it's looking good!

Cheers,
Ryan

Argh! I forget that not everyone uses Apple's web browser. I've got the file downloaded as a .pdf if you'd like me to send it to you via email..

Woah, Sorry Red, I totally missed this post until now!
Thanks for the compliment on the springs, I'm totally in love with them now
I would definitely appreciate hearing what your ride height is; remember it goes from the ground to the middle of the wheel arch. My guess is that yours will be about 25.5, and the front should be about 0.25 higher with stock springs.

As for the DSC, since the limits of the car are SO high, you have to be pushing beyond insanity compared to any other car to make the MINI use the DSC

Oh yea, you only get one "junk holder" in the MINI, and you can slip it into either of the front cupholders (comes in the left holder). Ever notice that the Junk Holder looks just like the fuel door on the MCS?!

Cheers,
Ryan

Hmmmmm I can get the DSC to activate without much trouble at all on the S, now the Cooper I have to try a little harder. Wonder if that speaks to my driving style????

I guess it's pretty hard to compare driving styles online!

However, it makes me wonder if the DSC's intervention is similar between MINI's?

---> Rat, my guess is that you know you can push the Cooper S harder, and are being more aggressive versus the Cooper. yes?

I would LOVE to get the MCS on a snowcovered parking lot and just let loose! It's how I learn the car's limits quickest

Cheers,
Ryan

Ryan,

I am getting 25 1/16" from the fender lip to ground at the front end. Does that sound right?

And I thought I was driving it pretty hard, but I did get the DSC light to come on coming out of a corner with a little sand in it today. So it works. I just have to work harder!

Red

Chef,

I have been doing the chant for you, but I found something that you might want to try to while away the hours.

The Moody Blues (a proper British Band you know), has a catchy little ditty called "I know you are out there somewhere". I have played it for you a few times in the MINI, you might want to try it. Don't have a burner, or I would send it to you. And by the time you got it, your MINI will be here!

Good luck!

Regards,
Red

Chef r,
I'm back. Man, it looks like you are dieing to get you hands on Shadowfax. He and Motor'nMAX have been raising hell since production. Hang in there buddy, just a short while and you will get a chance to tame him. The wild spirit will make for some awesome drives.

Keep the pints a flowing.

Ooooops.....I almost forgot today's "already motoring" question>

Those of you who have given up the run-flats...are you carrying a spare? where?

Always pondering these curious things?????

I love the picture montage you did Chef!

I haven't given up on my run-flats, I'm still using them.
most likely I won't buy them again though, I'll switch to a better performing summer tire (yoko es100), and carry a can of fix-a-flat with me.

My Bimmer doesn't have a spare tire either, since it got displaced by audio electronics and components, and I just keep a can of fix-a-flat in there too (never needed it either!)

Cheers,
Ryan

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

MA in Milwaukee reports that Tilley has just arrived!

Fly out to Chicago on Wednesday night, drive to Milwaukee early Thursday, and then bring Tilley home, via Minneapolis (daughter) and Colorado (business meeting)! Should hit my break-in mark right as I head up the eastern slope of the Rockies.

Best wishes to all those CWFA members still in suspense...

Hey all, had a great weekend with CeCe back from the dealer and reapairing the leaky sun roof. Have about 500 miles on the car so far. I'm getting ready to write my One-Week, but want a picture with the surfboard on the rack on top first.
I'll have it done this evening or tomorrow!

Happy motoring and waiting to all

Ok every one, last night I took CeCe for a twisty drive through the hills of Ventura Ca and ended up about 50 miles from home when I got over the mountains. Here is a picture of where State Route 23 turns off from Pacific Coast Highway. What a twisty road! Was in 1st or 2nd gear for most of the corners which are posted at 20mph! My fellow passenger was getting a little queezy too. 14 miles through the mountains on the switchbacks! what fun!

Chef,

The picture is awesome. I love it. As for Dusty, I am sure he is happy as can be. The cubbies are in 1st place and you know how Chicago loves their cubbies.

Kelisa, Great picture. 2 chilli reds. Doesn't get much better than that. Your sis-in-law's mini looks almost exactly like Pyro.

Bbuskas, I'm drooling. I love those California Coastal routes.

OWLA coming later tonight.

Andy

Ryan,

I am not unhappy with the performance of the run flats, but how much weight would we save going to a non run flat? And would there be a significant ride benefit?

Does the stiff sidewalls help performance, or just hold the car up when it runs out of air? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

Regards,
Red

You might want to consider cutting and pasting your parking tips here for the CWFAC members. It was very well thought out and useful.

Picture this. Jack is late, should have been here Saturday. Today, after pacing the office, up and down for 2 hours, I phone the dealer doctor at 10:00 - "any news"? My dealer doctor (John Lloyd) says something like, walked around the lot this morning but no delivery as yet. maybe later today? Lunch time comes and I visit a friends new house which is in the process of being built (bricking stage) and as her official photograher take pictures of the latest changes etc. Returning to the office I decide to drive-by the dealership and check-out whether I can see a stork!!!

NOTHING

At approximately 5PM (Elvis time), I return to my office after a meeting and find 5 e-mails awaiting me. The first was a CNN news briefing but the second (and I didn't even look to see who it was from), was 7 pictures of Jack being delivered by natural birth. Doctor John had taken pictures of the truck as it arrived and Jack in various stages of delivery (on the truck, being driven off the truck, etc. Absolutely YIPEEEEEEEEEE

Kelisa Great pics. Couple of fine looking MINI's

Ryan I am breaking flo in according to the Manufacturers guidelines No WFO, 4500 max rpm's and she has only seen a liitle glimpse of 80. 800 smiles on the ticker, 450 to go. However, I did not notice any limits on the suspension during break in . Momentum can push you to the limits and beyond

Congrats to everyone else also and patience to those in waiting.

Did that famous first poster MINIHOLLAND ever get his S?

Andy's MINI parking rules

1. park at the far, deserted end of the parking lot if possible. Extra walking is a bonus for your health.

2. Always park on the uphill side of a slanted PL. I saw a lady get out of her car at the post office without setting her brake. Her car rolled across the lot and smacked another car.

3. NEVER park next to a car with a car seat in it.

4. If you have to park next to another car, park next to a 4 door sedan. The doors are smaller.

5. Park next to curbs or parking fingers(?) if available.

6. Stay away from grocery carts, and always park uphill from them.

7. Park next to brand spanking new cars if possible. They share the same concerns as you.

I'm sure many of you have other helpful parking rules.

Andy

#1 isn't working to well. Whenever I park way out by myself, ther always seems to be another car parked next to Pyro. I guess Mini's have a magnetic appeal.

Fully thing happened at the church parking lot on Easter. There were Krispy Kreme donuts being passed out in the patio, and if you have ever had them you know how the glaze always falls off. Well, all around Pyro on the asphalt was a ring of donut glaze. I guess people were getting their donuts and coffee, and checking out the cool red car in the PL.

Andy
