>>Just spoke w/ my MA, there's nothing wrong w/ my mini, just the delivery list for Irvine is long. Also, Irvine is offering a 7 year/unlimited miles warrenty for $1800. Do you guys think thats worth buying or is that some huge rip-off? PEace....

I extended my warrenty coverage to I think 7 years as well, but don't know what I paid for it. I just always buy extended warrenties on things I buy, mainly electronics.. just for piece of mind and they always seem to break a week after reg warrenty goes up. I'll just have to make sure something breaks so I can get it fixed and feel like im getting my money's worth!

in other news, i denatured my sunvisor warning labels.. death to all who ride and don't know the ramifications..

hmm, I wonder if can still buy the extended service plan? I suppose a phone call to my MA should answer that!

How do you guys like the new MCO logo? I LOVE IT!

be back soon (got Deal's Gap stuff to chat about with my cabin-mates),

I remember a few years back when I was considering extended warrantees, it seemed that there are multiple sources for such plans. I don't know if it's basically the same plan marketed by various organizations with different mark-ups, or if the plans are fundamentally different. The best deal (by far) seemed to be through a plan that was fronted by my local credit union. I have never actually taken such a plan, so I don't know what kind of service (or hassle) you end up with. The prices of the same plan for different vehicles varied widely (Range Rover vs. Saab vs. Subaru).

Back then, if I recall correctly, you could subscribe to such a plan at any time until the original manufacturer's warrantee expired. I think I received solicitations from the vehicle manufacturer well after I had purchased the vehicle and put it into service.

So do you guys think that $1800 is worth it? I should probably ask what they cover under that warrenty....like does mini cover the 30k, 60k. 90k maintenance?

--->miniSail: My emergency boot-release is there, I checked the day the car came home! Just pop up the clip on both sides of the rear seat bottom cushion, and the release will be in the middle, near the back.

--->Jeremy: the $1800 sound WAY overpriced, Motor City MINI's extended service plan is under $500. Standard warranty is 4/40, complimentary maintenance is 3/36. If you opt for the extended service, at least at my dealership, it's 4/50 (or something like that). It includes a major service at 45k, which is about a grand by itself (worth the $500 by far!)

Also, I hope this is right!

Howdy-hey all,

Great to see my car finally crawling to the top of the list...196.5 WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

I guess now its all in the hands of the mysterious trolls who decide who gets paroled and who gets solitary inside the impenetrable, fortress-like walls of the VPC. No one seems to have deciphered the ancient and shrouded rites that take place there, even our esteemed VMA Doc Ryan...

My MA has agreed, even encouraged me to call in for updates both tomorrow and Monday! I'm hoping to hear soon that the sentence has been commuted and my baby's on a truck and OUTTA THERE!

Big-time exhausting day, major luncheon followed by a speech for the NHS inductees...I'm whooped and must now be off to bed to dreams filled with sugar-plum MINIs (red of course) dancing in my head...

Peace to all...

chef

PS I also love the new logo, hope to see it soon on a MCO tshirt...especially with some color choices...are you listening out there mferguson??? Love my white one, ready for another!

Well, OK, one more thing...I've been meaning to ask those of you who have taken delivery, what upholstery did you get and how do you like it (like I could do anything about it now )

I know Ryephile got the space cloth, me too, how about some "seat of the pants" reviews?

I can't believe I'm still up

I love my Space cloth. I love the silver and black aesthetic, along with the alloy patina, it makes the interior look like a WWII fighter plane
The sport seats are amazingly supportive, with great lumbar, and top-notch bolsters. The adjustments are easy to get used to, as long as you pay attention to your MA during delivery!!! I've had a bit of static issue with the cloth, even with my rubber floor mats. Since the bolsters are so big, it's hard not to sliiiiide out of the fabric, creating a static buildup. Strangely, it only discharges when you touch the chrome exterior doorhandle (which is how I close the door ) Seems that the static is less if I don't touch the fabric door panel section, weird, but that's how it goes! I also think footwear is critical to static level, clearly further research is required on this topic!

that's enough for now, my eyes aren't cooperating staying open anymore!
nitey nite,
Ryan

Just got done working.

Jeremy, good to hear nothing is wrong with your car. I am wondering if MINI will pay me to reduce my warranty so I can go whole hog on the mods without worrying about voiding my warranty. For a couple of thousand dollasr, I would be willing to reduce it by 12 months.

I got the cloth seats. I have had leather, and I like it, but I don't like getting burned duting hot summer months.

One more thing. Ryan do you think I can have until monday for my owla? Please!

I haven't got out as much as I would have liked to, and last weekend it rained to much, and I want to get more driving o please?

If you say yes I won't whine anymore.

Andy

Well talked to my MA yesterday. Told me my car is still @ the VPC and will be put on the next Matson ship to sunny Hawaii. Should be able to pick it up by the end of this month. My EDD is 4/22. Went to the Matson page to see if it's on a boat. I got this

Your vehicle has been loaded to vessel LURLINE which is scheduled to arrive at HONOLULU on 04-20-2003 Please check again in a few days for availability information.

oh can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Hey all! It's FRIDAY!
My car insurance also offered an extended warranty package. I don't recall how much it costs or for how long, but it may be another option...
Have a good day!!

My one-week report.
Color: absolutely gorgeous couldn’t be more pleased.

Quality: I have a few spots on the white roof that didn’t get properly buffed at the factory. I should be able to shine them right up.

Ride: Even under 4500 RPM’s lots more power than the Cooper. Corners like a bumblebee. Deffinetly stiffer, but not harsh.

Seats: The Lapis blue is very erotic I love it. Seats are of equal quality as the Cooper Panther Profile leather. Very comfortable I do seem to sit a little higher in the S than the Cooper, could be my imagination, or an illusion created by the color instead of the black in the Cooper.

White wheels: They are awesome when clean. I removed and waxed them. Didn’t seem to help much with washing the dust off. I am guessing they will just have to be removed each weekend.

Auto wipers: Work great.

The EB/W Combo gets a lot more attention than the PS/B. I have had people stop there cars in the middle of busy intersections, and want to chat about the car. Heads turn constantly, I have seen at least 2 people almost get into accidents because they were oggeling Flo!

If you really want to get attention find a friend with a MINI and go somewhere together. Everyone who see’s MINIJAMIE and I together just smiles.

That’s all for now folks, I will try and upload some pictures later tonight. Have a great day!

RAT

Got some pics of my cute widdle machine... apologies that it's rather dirty.. can't wait to get after it and make it shine shine SHINE!

Rachel's Mini

Here's a teaser:

I got the leatherette interior.. it's very impressive. I'm torn whether or not I should 'fess up when people comment that they need to be careful not to tear the leather on my seats. 'scuse me - you should ALWAYS do that!

A note on the tires - I've got the yokos that Ryan was talking about and they REALLY make a difference in the poinginess of the car. I felt on rough roads that the car was a bit more skittery over the surface of the road with the stiffer runflats. No more with these tires.. just have to get them broken in and they'll be even better!

I have the leatherette, and so far so good. Look great, and feel nice when the seat warmers are on.

Ask me again when the car is sitting in the sun at 95 degrees and I might be singing a different tune. In a higher pitch.

Regards,
Red

"Alright - the launch of the "Can't Wait For April" Club! Congratulations. Over time this Club will have in excess of 8,000 page views. Guaranteed"

The above is a quote from Rygold in the 2nd CWFAC post about how many views the April club will have.

We now have nearly 32,000 views.

Here's to 100 pages by the end of April.

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, rachel! aah if only they allowed DS on the MC, the rat bastards, but oh well. Like the DS roof.. same colored roofs are sweet, although i do have a place in my heart for the DS/W with white rims and white bonnet striznipes.. aaah.

anyway, im just going crazy over here, so I need a MCO break, not that it stops me from going crazy, just kind've a pause from doing work.

right... soo the interior i have is the black leatherette, which is nice to pretend I have the (way too expensive) real stuff and no one can really tell. BUT somehow lil crumb-lookin things always manage to wedge themselves in the crack of the seat and they're hard to get out. it's not food crumbs as I don't eat in there, but it's something.. stupid crumb thingys. I woulda gotten space cloth as I think it would look swert with my PS, but alas, yet another MCS option not available on the MC. I suppose my seats will get REAL hot over the summer, and my back will probably be sticking on the rides home from daily beach visits. oh well, i'll manage..

back to wooooooooooooooooooooooork

woohoo! Stripes installed Tuesday... can't wait! Of course I'll have pics immediately afterwards

I miss my car already.. I keep looking at pics of it. I can't wait until it's warm enough to do a REALLY nice job to detail it once the stripes are on. Why did it have to tease us and get all the way to 80 degrees one day, then 35 degrees the next?!

*sob*
