OK, this is slightly off topic, but at least it's not a recipie for egg cream (which I thoroughly enjoyed, by the way Thank you very much.) My question is: does anyone have satelite radio (either XM or SIRIUS) AND a nav system in their MINI? Depending on which dealership I talk to, SIRIUS radio is or isn't available yet for the MINI (our stereos are prewired for it) and that if it was it (and any aftermarket satelite radio) either does or doesn't work if you have the navigation system. (!) I'm confused. I'm picking up my MINI 4/25 and driving her cross-country and it sure would be nice to have some commercial-free tunes on those long stretches of lonely highway. (One can only carry so many CDs in the car, after all.)

Chef,

Don't worry about not showing as unloading on the WW site. My Daniel still has not shown as being unloaded, discharged, etc, even with the delivery being today. In fact, I haven't been able to find anyone from my ship (3/31 Fidelio, SC) that has been listed as unloaded.

Odd, isn't it? Maybe it has something to do with the ASKMINI stuff being curtailed.

Meghan

ps I leave in 30 minutes via taxi for the dealership.

pps I anticipate the ride back from the dealership being a lot more fun!

ppps Weee!

For all of you April Clubers out there that are still patiently waiting the arrival of your new MINI, I feel for you. That being said, it is worth the wait. My MCS is the most fun car I have ever had and I have been fortunate enough in my 55 years to have had some pretty nice automobiles, mainly BMWs. It’s more fun then a new 2001 M5 I drove for a while. I’m not saying the MCS is a nicer car then the M5, just more “fun”. The closest BMW I had that compares to the MCS in driving fun was a 1991 M3. Just a side note, I was closely associated with a BMW dealership from 1971 to 2001, hence my fondness for the BMW brand.

I too have heard about this backlog at the VDC in NY (I confess...I've been lurking in the May club, feeling superior to people with a longer wait than me...

Congratulations Red, sounds like you made it through the extra 2 days wait OK! Once again I am thrilled to hear all the positively glowing initial reports...can't wait to type those words me own self.

I also have to say that I am proud to be a member of the first CWF*C that not only refuses to leave with a ringing "I'm outa this stinkin' club" but rather remains to share their news and views ...I think we've become something of a "community" (is that violin music I hear?) Thanks to all for sharing your stories and giving your support.

CWFAC Rocks! 91 pages/2300 posts (almost/30K+ views-->these numbers don't lie and I have to say I think it will be a long time before any other club comes close...May, for example, is currently at 18 pages

I guess this has become yet another long and rambling post from chef blabbermouth but what else do I have to do, I can't MOTOR yet

Hoping for MINImal delays,

chef

Ok, so I walk in the door at home and I've got a grin from
here to................................................ ............................here!

I'm not gonna ramble on here about all my first impressions, after all I've only had the chance to put 15 miles on the car. But I WILL be back with some feedback.

And before I head back out on the road, some obligatory pics:

T J

ps - Just 15 miles and I can see white wheels are going to be a chore to keep clean. Other than waxing the wheels, and going to the Green Pads, any do's/don'ts for a quick spruce up in the interim? Green stuff on a towel?

Hooray for TJ

I thought you might enjoy knowing that I'm planning to cook up a batch of homebrew this W/E in honor of my MINIs impending arrival...a traditional British style brown ale or bitter, natch...anyway, I'm considering naming it MINI S-Ale (minisail, get it?)

Grover is beautiful!!!! And the young ladies seem thrilled as well...sorry, no advice on the wheels, no wheels to practice on yet ) will have plenty of advice...there's also a great detailing 101 thread too!

Later,

chef

I SO lied about the webpage, I ended up doing a refreshing, mostly of the Graduates section, but a bit of here-n-there too.
Factoid: We have twenty-five grad's so far! Impressive! [golf claps fade in from the background]

Hey, YOU! I need pictures of your delivered MINI, yea I'm talking to you, you know who you are!

Picked up the MCS from John Roberts MINI yesterday, WOW!!! More then I ever expected! Its a blast to drive! My MA (who I thought was rude sometimes) was great yesterday. We spent about an hour going over the car, most was very familiar because I own a BMW, so a lot of it’s the same. I was really impressed with the HK stereo enough bass that I no longer think about moving my speakers for my BMW (2 kicker 10’s) to the MINI. The only problem that I’m having is the spacing for the pedals, I wear bulky shoes sometimes and there’s just not enough room, but would be great if I knew how to drive toe to heal. First thing I did when I got home was to slap my UJ/checker flags and John Cooper signature badges on. Looking forward to more GREAT days in my MINI.
