R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
Jeremy, I feel SO BAD for you!
I think your MA should promptly stuff your order to the front of the line, and be built again Immediately! Plus they should give some sort of deal or something (even tho it's not their fault, it's good business).
Poor MINI!

Just dropped by the OL before shutting down...EDD is now moved up from 4/23 to 4/26.... :???:
Does that date usually correspond to when the dealer gets the car or when the owner gets the car????
Help me people, I need reassurance.
Going to bed devastated,

>>Just dropped by the OL before shutting down...EDD is now moved up from 4/23 to 4/26....  I think the EDD's are just a rough guide on about when you can expect your MINI. It's best to take the dates with many grains of salt (just ask Katie!)
Cheers, and goodnight,
Ryan
P.S. My BMW will be on it's way with a new owner tomorrow, sniff

It is my experience that the estimated delivery date posted on the MINIUSA owners lounge is the estimated date that the vehicle should arrive at the selling dealer. My EDD was March 11 and that is the date that the dealer received the vehicle. I took delivery the next day. Good luck.

Jeremy - sincere condolances. I would really pursue having your MA try to find a close match at a nearby dealer if at all possible. Having a couple of different acceptable color schemes may help also. I know that I personally have liked pretty much every single one I have seen, even the less common ones. In fact, when I picked up my car last Thursday, the dealer had a LY/W MC with an aero kit where they had painted all of the lower black parts (fenders, side skirts, etc) white and it really looked sharp. Kind of a breakfast scrambled-egg look in a certain way, but sharp none the less.

Greetings all once again. I apologize for being late in this, but I picked up my MINI last Thursday, 4/17. Drove her accross Missouri, Kansas, and to Limon, Colorado Thursday night. Friday, I bought a set of R90's from Rob in Golden, then went through Colorado, Utah, and made it to Elko, Nevada before pretty much collapsing. And I got through the break-in period just after entering Utah. Saturday, went across Nevada, California, and finally got past the Redwood Curtain and home Saturday night with 2380 miles showing on the odometer (there were exactly 10 miles showing when I picked her up in St Louis on Thursday).
I had to make it back before Sunday because I am the organist at our church and missing Easter Sunday would never be forgiven. Also, I wrote the fanfare for the brass group to open the service, and played for the choir concert. All of that came off just fine, though, and I am finally getting back into my normal routine.
So after almost 2400 miles in 3 days, I STILL love this car. Just a couple of quick impressions:
1. Outside, the car looks tiny. Once inside, it feels not small at all. Plenty of room.
2. I have never in my life washed a car during a snowstorm. Until last Friday, driving up the Rockies west of Denver. I was just sooo embarrased to drive a dirty car I had to stop and wash it. At the top. I took a picture a 2 miles later at the summitt - some 9100 feet.
3. This car is a much better highway cruiser than I ever would have thought. After consecutive days of 12-14 hour drives, I was still smiling the next morning.
4. This car feels the same at 90mph as it does at 60mph. Absolutely stable.
5. On smooth roads, this car glides along like a ballet dancer. On rough roads, it holds on like a pit bull.
I'm trying to figure out how to post pics - I got one at the Bonneville salt flats, and another interesting one with my '41 Chevy and the Cooper.
Waiting on some sunshine for one with me and the trombone though.

You can't put too much stock in those dates... mine still says EDD of 4/20....
I still don't have my MCS yet...
I don't know which is worse... being late for a EDD or having a updated EDD that might be correct
I feel your pain....
I'm going out of town for two days... I just know my MA will call today and tell me my MCS is at the dealer... and I can't get to her...
gimme mini, gimme mini, gimme mini.

>>Congrat's to everyone who got there mini's! Rachel where are those stripes already?
>>
I'm working on it! I actually drove my car most of the way in to work today (a first for me EVER... I never had the confidence to fight the Boston traffic at its heart, but now with my screamin' meanie mini..). I'm still grinning.
I'm on withdrawal.. I'd be okay if I still had my keys, but I had to hand them over too.
Now, everyone do the no-rain dance (yes, you'll have to do the naked part too, no matter where you are) so the stripes will actually go on instead of my car just sitting there letting everyone oogle it.
OK, left another message with MA, waiting for a call back...
If it goes beyond Wednesday we will simply have to start adding days to April...I don't want no STEEENKING May delivery.
Rachel, I'll do the dance, but I don't know if its working...its pouring here! Maybe I drew the rain away from Boston and towards Austin (dancing in clogs is not easy, btw)
Cheers y'all!

Hi there, I'm new to the club, although I've been following it for awhile, this is my first post in it. I'm expecting delivery at any time. The owners lounge has said that my car is at the dealer since Sunday, but I called my MA on Monday, and he finally called me back last night to tell me that he knows what it says online, but my car is not there yet! He says it should be there any time. I don't know what the hold up is, another guy I've been talking to on the owners lounge whose car came over on the same boat (Jingu Maru) is picking his car up today from the same dealer, same MA. I was really hoping for it by this weekend (actually, my EDD was originally 4/16, so I was hoping for it last weekend!). I can't wait for this agony to end!
Jeremypo Bummer dude!!! That was my worst fear while at the VDC. Fortunatly Flo escaped without incident. I am sorry!!!!!!
The 3 paint flaws I found were quickly hand polished out of the white top. Flo is slowing down on Milage now I think 850 smiles now. She does have a wonderful growl!
Might take a couple of weeks to actually reach break in. Although I might have to sneak in a track day soon, 120 miles to the track. guess I better shut up and drive if I want to throttle her at the track!!
Have a great day all

>>how was your experience in St. Louis? who was your MA? i'm really looking forward to picking up the MINI, but i haven't heard enough good things about the dealer experience at Clayton...
Sockdaddy - Actually, the buying experience at MINI of St Louis was quite pleasant. It took about an hour altogether, starting off with signing papers, then onto the demonstrations, etc. The only odd thing was that I really wanted to pick it up on Wednesday, but was told that they couldn't release the car until they had the Certificate of Origin, which I have never heard of. Then, when I went to get it as scheduled on Thursday, they still didn't have the "CO", but let me drive away anyways.
My MA was Tony Jones, but I did talk to the other MA a few times and he was quite helpful. I was not asked about programming options, but the defaults were fine with me as long as DRL's were not on (and they weren't). They were also kind enough to not mount or drill for the front license plate, which I appreciate. Even though they are technically required in CA, I haven't put one on in years.
Overall, my purchase went smoothly, and I was happy with both Tony and of course the car. The dealership has a LOT (30-40) of coopers in stock, but I only saw a few S's.

>>Welcome MCJoe! Great name for your car! Be sure to show us pics when it's all yours.. sounds like a beauty!
Thanks rfath, I decided on Flea because a) the car is small, and b) the car is CHILI RED, and Flea is the bassist of the RED hot CHILI peppers. I thought it was clever.

Welcome MCJoe and Flea...
Hope you get good news soon! I was also on the Jingu and am hoping to be MINIed sometime in the next 7 days. EDD is 4/26.
I like the name too, I go back to the very first RHCP singles (remember "Yertle the Turtle"???). Thanks for being clever, that will certainly take the pressure off me
Rachel, did our naked-no rain boogie help??
As of today I am officially revising the chant (still morning noon and night, though!)
"no steeenkin MAY, no steeenkin MAY, no steeenkin MAY, no steeenkin MAY, no steeenkin MAY, no steeenkin MAY..."
Later dooooodes, (just got back from 4 hours with my students

In my experience, it worked out to the day the dealer got the car.
I know it sounds crazy, but you will appreciate the car even more. That's what happened to me when I could not pick it up over a week after they had it.
Add this chant: "It's worth the wait" "It's worth the wait" "It's worth the wait"

Welcome MCJoe! We're all glad you chimed in to tell us about your MINI on the way. Your M.A. can tell you if your MINI is at the VPC or has been loaded on a truck already; this will give you better piece of mind until it arrives

happiness is bonding with your MINI... while removing stripes lovingly applied this afternoon...
color isn't what I ordered and the stripes were flawed.
*sigh*
the installer didn't know what I'd ordered so didn't know that the stripes were wrong - oh, so terribly wrong. He sounded a bit confused when I asked him how it looked over the phone.
.. ominous pause...
uhh... I like it???

so someone out there was dancing backwards, I KNOW it!
as a note... Do you know how HARD it is to remove those danged stripes, especially without hurting the paint?!
