>>Think FAST thoughts.....

I bet we are on the same truck!!! Your dates look much like mine, assuming that they mean "ready to pick up" by 4/28. My MA said mine will be unloaded in SA on 4/25 (Fri.) and *MAYBE* ready Saturday...More likely Monday, (Wednesday for me...)

thotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotth otthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthot thotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotthotth otthotthotthotthotthot

If your wondering what those are, they're "fast thoughts"

THANK THE LORD!!!! WOOO HOOO....my mini isn't dead!! Got a call from my MA and he said that my car wasn't involved in that other incident, but that my roof got scratched and dented a little. BMW has a 5% body damage margin. Since my car fell under 5% in body damage before delivery, they will replace the roof. IF it was above 5% (in the case of the other car), they would replace it.

So i'm looking for delivery early next week.

Thanks guys for all the support. Looks like i'll be able to graduate in april after all.

Peace
Jeremy

Jeremy, wheeew. Close one, we were all pullin for you. Glad that your baby was spared. She might be a little traumatized though after seeing accident at the VDC. Here’s to a swift recovery and happy motorin.

CeCe isn’t leakin any more, well it hasn’t rained yet, but there is a rattle in the roof where they did the work on the sun roof. She’s going back to the shop tomorrow morning and they are giving me a rental car for free considering it is their fault since it wasn’t rattling before I took it in. Hopefully I’ll have her back tomorrow afternoon for some weekend motoring. And yes…my OWLA and surfboard pics are coming! I promise!

Hey Chef! take my advice, if you are doing your pick up during the week, take the day off. You would if your kid was being born. I did it and I am glad I did!

Don't forget the tunes, and best of luck!

OK. I know this has been beaten to death elsewhere, but let's put it to this very astute and "with it" club:

When are you changing the oil? 1,000 or 10,000? I told my MA that their policy constituted abuse. He said I am an old fart that does not understand the leaps made in machineing surfaces and the wonders of synthetic oil, and that after all, they warrant it don't they.

But this old fart still may get the oil changed at 1000 miles. How about you?

That's Oil,
Red

Great news Jeremy. Looking forward to seeing your new car with new roof.

Red, I am still trying to figure out what to do about oil change. I think I'm going to change it at around 1500 miles. Mostly because I just want to get a wrench on the car somewhere.

Good Day,

Well the car has arrived, the aero kit is on and painted, gauges installed and have 600K on it now....everything I expected - if it is this good during break in I can't for the JCW kit to arrive (was 30 days behind the car - supply problems with the exhaust)....

Will up load some pictures as soon as I figure that out -running my own domain so have no "internet to upload to" so supplying an URL is pretty tricky......

I also ordered the front mud flaps, in hopes of keeping the dust and crap level on the side of the car to a minimum!

I also ordered a few things from MINI-Madness today. I was part of the Madness Intake Group Buy, which was 21% off. About 9HP at $21/HP is actually good compared to other horsepower mod's (except the supercharger pulley, that's only $20/HP!, compare to the JCW package, at $121 per horsepower! Madness is currently out of stock, and are doing another batch of bars as we chat, due for shipping next week.

Whew, enough for now!,
Cheers,
Ryan

While I was at the dealership yesterday picking up my oil filter, I also snagged the rear Rubber floor mats. They are equally nice as the fronts (although MUCH smaller ) Now I have matching mats front and back
I'm not a fan of the rubber boot mat, so I wanted a carpet boot mat. The Parts Manager gives me a dumb look, whips out the MINI Accessories book, fumbles thru it, and is like "there is no carpet boot mat!" I am stumped, why no carpet boot mat?! I mention this to my MA, and he said "Woah, that's a good idea!" GRRRR, I KNOW it's a good idea, now where is it already!
I might have to have one made, does Alcantara sound good?

My SO's Audi has seats with Alcantara inserts (as well as some of the interior trim). It rocks! While not as grippy as *real* suede, it's also mighty grippy and a heckuva lot easier to clean and take care of.

I've got riding breeches with full seat on them made of Clarino - similar to alcantara. Might have to start tracking with them on, too - the grip combined is unbelievable!

Exciting day for grtbrit, chef and others. Can't wait to see jack and shadowfax.

I'm thinking to dual boot mats. One carpet for everyday use, and a rubber mat for wet days and trips to the nursury for gardening stuff. It is springtime you know.

I got up at 4:00am this morning to drive my son to the airport. Learned some new things about Mini's today.

1. It's easy to go 90 mph. not 91, breakin period isn't up yet.

2. It rained all the way, and I never used the wipers. The water flowed right off at 65-70 mph, and the wipers were more distracting. Has anyone elso noticed this? I wonder if the windshield was rain-xed.

3. The high beams offer more illumination than I have every had in a car.

4. I have been feeling that the brakes are not quite up to par with the suspension. I feel quite confident in the car's ability to hit corners hard and fast, but I am not as confident in the brakes. Moss has a brake kit with new drilled and slotted rotors, green stuff pads and stainless steel brake lines for $599. I am thinking of getting the kit. Anyone else feel the same way about the mini brakes or have other brake suggestions?
Andy

asodestrom, I can't remember if you mentioned how many miles you've got on your car. I know that my car's brakes have been feeling a bit better with more usage - at 900 miles now they're really quite okay. My MA cautioned that the pads needed at least 300 miles to seat correctly. As Ryan mentioned, the stock brake pads have a few issues besides the dusting as far as feel, so you might want to invest in the pads first and see if you notice a difference.

Heh. My MA insisted that I not take the car over 75 mph for the duration of the break-in period. I nodded compliance, then promptly took out my motoring manual and read the directions for break-in to be sure *I* was remembering it right.

Attempt number two for the stripe install underway. Still waiting for word from the manufactorer of the originals... :/

somebody was looking for a bike rack for the MINI right? Well, I didn't seem to find on on the MossMini website, but in their catalog they have one. I got the catalog last night and noticed it. I'll try and scan in a picture next week, but I forgot the catalog at home. Happy friday to all!

Has it really been 2 weeks! Yes it has. Not much new to report, the flaws in my white top were quite easy to buff out by hand, She is still a joy to drive, about 860 smiles on the clock. No problems at all, only comment "boy does the S dip stick suck! And I was surprised to find no hook insert on the front bumper, only on the rear?? seems odd to me. Hope you are all well and happily receiving your new MINI's Have a great weekend

Rachel,

I just passed 800 miles this morning. I think I will try just the pads 1st. My MA said 4k rpm for 1k miles. 4k rpm in 5th = 90 mph. I only did it for a few seconds . It has also done nothing but rain in NorCal the past 2 weeks, so maybe some dry weather might help.

Bryan. I was looking for the bike rack. I have see two hatch racks, from Yakima and Thule. I want to see them in real life before I buy one.

Is it ever! On the way home from the dealer I found myself going 90! Good thing I am going into this with a clean license!

Have not driven it in the rain yet, but some cars at some speeds to deflect rain pretty good; just a swipe with the wipers once in a while.
>>
>>3. The high beams offer more illumination than I have every had in a car.

I agree! They are amazing. I wonder what the Xenons would be like.

Since the car only has 500 miles on it, I have been treating them pretty gently, so I can't say. Just wonder why they would fit it with such dust producing pads?

Didn't you put the "green pads" on? Maybe they are not seated yet? Maybe they are not as good as OEM pads in the stopping department?

Took a member's advice and stopped at Costco to pick up a bunch of goodies, like the California water blade etc.

Guess what comes with the California Duster? A MINI Duster!!!

How appropriate is that!

Ryan: Thanks again for the good advice on the oil change. When you do it yourself, does the computer reset it self for miles to go to next change?

Regards,

Red, I don't have the green pads yet. I haven't been able to pull the trigger and order them. I have already spent LOTS of money in April. I sold my vw, so I have car money in the bank, I just can't seem to spend it yet. This will pass.
