Fun Motoring Activity #1:
CLOVER DUSTING
Slow down enough before entering a clover leaf until somebody is right on your tail and plenty of room in front (lots of room in front). Once you enter the turn, drive it like it should be driven in a MINI. Grin at how much of a gap exists between you and the trailing car once the car behind you exits the ramp.
Let's hear #2, #3, #4 ..... There must be at least 100!

Fun Motoring Activity #2:
LANE SNEEZE
When a co-pilot is present, and on a multi-lane road, check for no cars around you. After determining the coast is clear, YANK on the wheel to change lanes a quickly as MINI-possible (very quick). Be sure to oversteer so you have to "turn into" the new lane, creating a second "HHUUUUUGGGHH" from your co-pilot. Notice body-lean is minimal, and your co-pilot has blacked out from the sudden G-forces

Another beautiful MINI!!!!
I especially like the tinted windows with the black roof and pillars, mine is being tinted tomorrow in preparation for Wednesday pickup...I can't wait!!!! OK, I can, but don't want to...
I'm also starting to like the aero grilles more and more, but don't want to spring for the full kit...I'm thinking of adding the grilles to the stock bumper as others have done. I think it would ROCK on the CR/B...opinions anyone?
I'm enjoying the FMAs and looking forward to inventing my own to share...Keep 'em coming!

Check!
The best is droning on and on about why you like the mini and ending the sentence with '.. and there's always THIS!' as you dart from lane to lane and back again and pretend like nothing's happened.
Really freaked out SO.

After blasting about, your activity #3 is pretty cool. Shifting at low revs and just mellowing out is a nice change of pace. Then it's back to blasting about!
The lane change thing I discovered in the first mile. Very effective on co pilots!
Also, I love when I have some yahoo on my tail on a cloverleaf or tight turn. It's nice to say "Bub Bye" and leave them in the dust. And with no accompaning tire squeals!
The MINI is basically a trackless roller coaster. And the supercharger even yells "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee" for you. I am sure the MC has it's own howl. Yowzah!

Not Reckless Red

Fun Motoring Activity #4
BRAKELESS CORNERING
As you know from your embarrassing past, most passenger vehicle need to use something called "brakes" in order to slow down for corners, such as to not lose control of the vehicle. Us Motorers know no such compromise. Execution is easy and natural feeling; simply downshift a gear or two, find the corners' entrance and apex, and turn-in accordingly. The MINI's go-kart-like handling allows mere mortals to become Superdrivers almost immediately!
Disclaimer: This F.M.A. should only be entertained on smooth and clean surfaced corners. Your VMA assumes no responsiblity for erroneously executing above instruction, nor does your VMA actually endorse the above F.M.A. without proper drivers' training, a roll-cage, and your favorite helmet.

Ryan

Well, assuming the CWFAC web page is up-to-date, I guess I am graduate #35. I picked up my JB/W mini on Saturday down in LA. Then I spent Saturday and Sunday driving it back to the Bay Area.
After the first glimpse of my car at the dealership and my first trip around the block (and before the finance gauntlet), my ride to the dealer was concerned that my face was going to get stuck in the permagrin position. That, went away while signing the papers and having to think more about payments then S-curves.
After turning down LoJack and other assorted extras for 15 minutes, and detailed instructions on how to use the windshield wipers from my MA, it was finally time to hit the road.
First tune was You're No Rock and Roll Fun by Sleater Kinney, as I hit the road cruising down the freeway with a big smile. This joy was again, short-lived, since 3 minutes later I hit the ever mysterious LA phenomenon of Sunday rush hour traffic. Hours later, I arrived at the overnight stop, expert in how to get into first gear from a dead stop, but without a whole lot of other MINI experience.
That changed today, when we hit the Pacific Coast Highway and I finally got to see what all the new MINI fuss is all about. Between San Luis Obispo and Monterey, there are quite a few twisties with outstanding views. Most of the twisties were being held hostage by tyrannical Oldsmobile Alero and Chrysler Sebring drivers who (for some strange reason) were probably concentrating more on the view instead of the road. But the few other-car-free curves were taken fast, and with a big smile from the driver.
Coming in to the Bay Area, the sun went behind the clouds and I got to test another MINI feature that only a few of us CWFACers got: the Auto-Sensing Windshield Wipers. I would have to say, it's the best $140 I've ever spent. For those of you who are constantly readjusting your interval wipers to find the perfect balance of clear windshields and no squeaking, this is what you have been looking for. After a few quick swipes to clear the inital water, they lapse into automatic mode and just click on when they are needed: it might be continuous, it might be a 20 second lapse--doesn't matter, you don't have to think about it. I also liked the interval on the rear window. Although it is not rain-sensing, it is nice that it does not run continuously like some other cars' rear wipers.
Now it's in the garage, waiting to go on commute duty tomorrow (and still waiting for a name). I'll post pics in a few days. I had to use good old-fashioned film for my pictures since the MINI is more technically advanced then I am.

500 miles and only two "Oh Sh*t, I'm over 4500 moments". Not too bad.
