>>Actually, chef.. I might have been disappointed for a little while by my car since I only got to drive the initial 9 miles on it, then my SO took it for a few HUNDRED. I can't believe the difference in the car with more break-in and fun times. And the tires!
>>
>>I'm a bit peeved at my MA. He wouldn't change any of the programmable options set on the car before I picked it up - not like I asked at the last minute, either. He assured me that I could just have my local dealer set the options whenever I wanted.
>>

Rachel, you did read BOTH posts, right???

btw, how was the salsa!!!

nice pics Chef, Burnie looks amazing.

here are a couple pics from my Road Trip last week after picking up my MINI (who has yet to be named) in St. Louis on the way back to Denver (by way of the Farm in Iowa City).

Congrats Chef and Paul! Best of luck!

Hey Chef! Yours is the color combo I initially wanted, but my wife talkjed me out of. No regrets, but it looks awesome! My 1966 was BR/W and I painted it CR/B.

Your Jack Russel looks very content Sockdaddy. My toy poodle keeps grabbing my arm with his paw when I shift. When I stop the car, he climbs up and pretends to drive, like "Toonces the Cat" from SNL. I must buy/steal/borrow a digital camera!

Thanks for the "road test" Ryan. Those progressive rate springs sound great. Did it change the car's lean just a little bit because they initially give a "bit" more?

Regards,
Red

Chef - yep, I did. Of COURSE I did! Just adding my comment that the car only gets better and better. Driving 9 miles at 20 miles an hour isn't where the car is the most fun

Saaaaaalsa! I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, but my housemate and SO took advantage of me tutoring and snarfed a great deal of the good ol' green. They really really liked it!

I've hidden them now

Maybe I'll experiment with them on some grilled fish this weekend. Salsa is SO much fun!

Though I finally somehow found a hot chile that my SO could NOT stand. I made some cambodian rice soup last night and had made some chile/soy condiment on the side to spice it up. One of those anonymous chiles (I have NO idea what kind they are - the fun of shopping at the asian grocery stores) really got him!

::evil cackle::

I must feed him more! It was quite entertaining. It's hard to find really good chiles from Mexico and that region up here in New England... have to experiment some more and see if I can rummage some up.

Burnie is most wonderful, chef! What's the first mod now that it's in your hands?

Great looking car chef. Great looking crew to. You still have lots to look forward to. The breakin period, attention from the people on the streets, new adventures, washing and waxing, brake dust, ..................

Just reached a milestone!

This is getting really fun now!

Well I guess I didn't make the club. I'm disapointed it is taking so long to get car from New York (arrived 4/22) to Chicago. The estimated arrival to dealer of 4/28 come and gone. Guess I'll go pout in the May club.

sheesh, we put 1100 miles on the MINI just driving back from St. Louis.

my fiance took the MINI to her work today to show it off - we're the second MINI and the first S where she works. let's just say that her "lunch break" turned into 2 hours of giving people rides to and from Einstein's bagels. by tomorrow, i'm sure we'll be at 1250... i only wish that i didn't work from home so i could have my co-workers ooh-ing and aah-ing over the MINI as well.

also, i just ordered the Glove Box and Cubby organizers from RSpeed.net. does that count as my first mod?

DAY 2 REPORT

First wash and wax set for saturday, glovebox organizer is in and the hunt for the perfect all-black plate frames is on...no major mods planned yet (except for the brake pads) I really want to enjoy Burnie as he is, and give him the chance to let me know what he wants.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!

175 smiles down, 1075 to go...Andy what's it like on the other side???

Goodnight all!

I totally agree with this idea...what do y'all think??

It has been great getting to "know" you guys on this thread...I would love to see any ideas for an April Club meeting posted for discussion here.

Would be fantastic to find somewhere fairly central for a little driving, some "fine dining" and perhaps a pint or two...I'll even volunteer to cook up a batch of commemorative CWFAC 03 Ale (need about 6 weeks notice, though!)

Who else wants to try and make this happen??

Life begins at 4,500 rpm. It also ushers in a whole new world of sounds.

Welcome to the club, cat - great color choice, btw. And Chef, your car looks delectable. I really have to say that I like all the colors chosen by this club - and I think that Velvet red and Pepper white should be choices for the MCS as well as the MC. Here finally is a pic of my car with me in it, along with a couple of horns. The next post will have a pic of what the cooper concept car might have looked 60+ years ago (really, I do see a slight resemblance).

OK, here it is. Just imagine a little slope to Big Red's hood, some stretching out of the wheels, and a massive diet.

Great photos Phil!

Andy reminds me that I have to get out and drive this weekend. Must get to 1250 miles. It's hard when you work from your house AND have an all expenses paid company car.

OK. Who is going for the "Works"? Having never gone near the redline (600 miles!), I think I have enough MINI for now.

Regards,
Red

Hola amigos! Just got the list from my MA on the new minis they're receiving this weekend and NONE are to my liking!!! All the minis they're getting are same body same roof color. The only colors that had the HK and the Premium Package was a Chile Red/Chile Red and a Electric Blue/Electric Blue. There's no way in hell that i'm gonna settle for those 2 colors, especially w/o any contrast in it!!

So i decided to bite the bullet and reorder my Mini again. The Store Manager at Irvine is going to get my new production number this monday and he's also going to knock off a couple hundred the price. So looks like July is the month that i'll finally get to grad (unless some insane twist of fate occurs again, but i don't want to jinx it...knock on wood..hahahaha). No use in going to the CWFJulyClub cuz, i only want to go through the excitement process w/ you guys and i don't think i could put myself up to it to do it again w/ a whole new set of Mini owners. My family is here.

The only upside to all this maddness is that i'm going to Europe for vacation this june, and i'll be gone for about 3 weeks. So when i get back, my mini should be only like 2 weeks away. I guess i could drive my CRX for another month. I just recently had it fully maintenanced becuase i was going to sell it to my friend, but now it looks like i'll have her a bit longer...at least it's in great condition and i can't beat the 40+ mpg it gets.

So that's the conclusion to my mini drama. Thanks for all the support...I'll be motoring soon...I'm not giving hope on this great car!!

Jeremy

Wise decision and great name Jeremypro. Your july date will give us all something to look forward to. Keep us all posted. Maybe you'll get a ride on the medea again.

Jeremy - What a BUMMER, having to order again. I'm not sure I'd be taking it quite so well as you.

I like the name Phoenix, though...it fits.

Where is everyone? Out enjoying your MINIs I presume. We almost slipped to page 2 here.

I am checking out Monday at 4:00 am for 10 days in Hawaii. That's 10 miniless days. I think I can make it.

I just ordered a pocket dyno Pocket Dyno. I got the $49.00 version. When I get back I'm going to do some tests with the device, then seee what differents mods do. Drop in intake, Piper cross intake, Rogue exhaust, and maybe some others. Should be fun.

Hoping to see some good write-ups in a few weeks. Especially Ryan's reports from Deals Gap.

Got to go pack.

Andy

Best of luck JeremyPo! I thought solid cars were less than 10% of those imported, and that's all they showed you.....

Good idea waiting for exactly what you want. You won't regret it.

Did back to back roadtests today (and car washes) on my 34 year old Caddy ragtop and the MINI.

The MINI handles much better, and you can wash it must faster (that California water blade is cool!).

Hey! Where is Ryan? Motoring I betcha!

Regards,
Red
