Delores is safely home. Picked her up yesterday evening. Everything is perfect, except foe a few swirls here and there. Yes, she does have the DVD NAV. The luggage rack is very cool. I think I will be leaving it on. I will take and post some pics this weekend (when the weather clears). I will post my first impression later too.

One quick question, does the driver side sport seat have a lumbar support adjustment?

>>There are many people picking up their MINI today or tomorrow! here goes:
>>Asodestrom
>>James4513
>>MiniSail
>>Moggio
>>Red
>>Scoobs

WOW!

What a great day for the mighty CWFAC...is that a record for most pickups in one day? Are y'all from the Carmen?

I have a big day coming too, should be getting off the boat Sunday 4/13 in SC. Back on solid ground with the chance to implement the top secret, *Operation Sneak to the Front of the VDC Line* It requires incredible stealth and nerves of steel but I'm sure shadowfax can handle it...wish us luck.

Crossing my fingers for April 26!

>>Sometimes a job really gets in the way of fun.

No Kidding. I called my MA today, found out he was on vacation until Monday 4-14.
OL has my EDD as 4-11. However, I did find out that my MINI cleared the VPC this
morning, and should be on a truck by now, on its way to St Louis MINI. I asked if
a JB/JB got out at the same time (for Sockdaddy), but Laura was unable to tell
without the VIN, and I was not on MCO at the time (called from work). She said I
would be able to pick up the car next weekend - unfortunately, I can't do that, as I
have to be home by Easter Sunday and driving 2300 miles in 1 day, even in a MINI,
seems a bit daunting. I told her I would call back Monday when Tony, my MA is
available and they may have a better idea of where the truck is - she said usually
4-5 days truck time until they see the car. She also promised that they could have
the car prepped in a day (the only dealer-added option I have is the CD changer,
which should take all of 10 minutes to put in).

So I am starting to get anxious again, but hopeful also. If April found a transport
today (Thursday), that would put her at the dealer by next Tuesday, and I can pick
her up Wednesday. That will work. Deep Breath.

Question of the day - how many 12-volt outlets are there in the MINI? I've studied
some interior pics, and it looks like there is probably one by the mini cup holders but
I can't seem to find any more. I'd like to be able to plug in both the radar detector
and StreetPilot at the same time. Will that be possible?

Great pic Katie, BTW

Time to get back to work (yes, I'm STILL at work)

Phil

BRG - Great to hear Delores is home safely!

Chef - Shadowfax certaintly loves to get into trouble, doesn't he!

Tboner - so far I have only counted one 12 volt outlet, and that's between the cupholders in the front of the center console. There aren't any in the rear seat area, and there aren't any in the boot (although someone used a Z4 socket and did a retrofit, try a thread search)

When I first installed my glove-box organizer, I was wondering what this "switch-kinda-thingie" in the glovebox was. Today, I opened up my CD that comes with the car, tossed it in the ROM drive, and checked it out. Turns out that "switch-kinda-thingie" is actually the HVAC vent for the glovebox! You turn it "up" to turn off the vent, and "right" to open the vent! YYEEEAAAYYYY!! learn something new everyday

Cheers,
Ryan [crosses fingers hoping his H-Sport springs arrive tomorrow, for a timely weekend installation ]

Little baby steps, right...

Just made my weekly visit to the OL (as opposed to my constant visits to MCO) and I have been blessed with an actual EDD, first change on my order page in a while!

My question is, how accurate have y'all's dates been?

Any info is good info when you're trapped in the evil black hole of no news  grrrr....

Clearly showing signs of MINImal patience, I remain

Clover got her's TWO DAYS after docking in CA, whereas Katie and a bunch off Jingu Maru, Round One, got theirs TWO WEEKS after EDD

So that should give a good range, expect your MINI a few days after EDD, and you won't have a seizure (stay away from the caffene, vicodin, and other drugs!)

Good luck, we're here to help

The best day for me to pickup the car is looking like 4/26, with an EDD of 4/23 let's hope that a couple days after the EDD holds up and that shadowfax doesn't get into TOO much trouble!

7 hours until pickup. I spoke to my MA yesterday and he said everything was ready except they had no black bonnet stripes in stock. He suggested I might want to wait until Monday to be sure they were in. I DON'T THINK SO MINI GUY!

He thought they would be in this morning at 8:00 am, but just wanted to make sure everything was there. I told him I will get the car today, and come in later to get the stripes if they don't arrive.

Maybe drop the car off, take in a Giants game with free parking at the dealer. Ain't springtime grand.

Have a great day all, and post pictures all of you 4/11 ers.

Andy

chef r,
Not too many days left now. Coffee stout, that sounds excellent. How did it turn out? I have a good friend who brews, could you pm me the recipe?

The Jingu Maru was always scheduled for two dockings in NY. They originally had it listed as 4/10 arrival and 4/11 departure versus two lines. I remember people talking about this last voyage.

I ordered a glove box organizer and am thinking about the euro parcel shelf. Still debating on a whalen ****.

Congrats to all that are now happily motoring

Regards,

>>>>I have almost 1000 miles on little red and have only had her a week. so I'm planing to change the oil this week end and will let you'll know how much a pain in the A** that is. >>
>>
>>Unless that's a typo, why are you changing your oil after just 1,000.. first oil change is at 10,000

Yes I'm changing my oil at 1000 miles. I've seen though out this form that people have changed their oil at the break in point and have found the oil to have a matalic look and feel to it. With this I don't think I want to wait till the 10,000 mile point. And changing the oil at 1000 miles or so surely can't hurt, if anything it can only help with the break in.

Wags thats exactly what I did with my break lights too. I didn't trust the paper clip idea so I did what you did, and it worked out much better.

Happy Motering Everyone

goodness, let's not get this outta control.. we are nice people on CWFAC!! i think she was just describing the particular group in the garage, not saying ALL brookyners are meat heads, nor was she necessarily putting them down. that's all, let's not have two pages of flaming eachother

little cajun, makes sense. good luck with the job, have read it SUCKS!

rataha, i think i've read all the posts, since i posted page 2. i just looked at my post, and someone had once mentioned getting things in the mail from MINI, and your response was trinkets. but i haven't received jack... maybe MINIUSA doesn't do that either, or i haven't waited long enough after delivery, or they just don't like me, oro it was just a lie and no one receives anything... it doesn't really matter, i guess. I still think it's great that I ordered my MINI on jan 31, and got it as early as I did (3/8)

well not sure if i'll get a chance to post before I leave for the weekend... good luck everyone taking delivery today or this weekend!

HAVE FUN!

>>"Brooklyn meat-head guys"? Typical utterance of the clown who moves to NYC from West Femp, Idaho and suddenly considers themselves an 'urban sophisticate'. You weren't wearing shoes six months ago, but you find it easy to put down people for not being in the same 'class'. Dear, put down the cappuchino and come back down to earth - with the rest of us peasants.

Yeouch... I'm sure Katie didn't mean her statement to be taken as you seem to have. And that sort of response really isn't the MINI way. There are better ways to express your concerns about what she's said - it rarely opens up any sort of understanding and learning between people.

When I bought the Cooper we received several different packages from MINI. I think 3 different mailings. A cup A cd about the MINI like a CD rom interactive owners manual. A MINI parking only stencil. The floaty pen. I can't remember what else. Maybe they don't do that anymore. We bought the Cooper in Aug. I think the CD Rom is with the owners manual now. Anyway it was pretty cool. 1.5 hours and I head South!!!!

Rachel:

I just turned 47 and have had to deal with 'recent arrivals' with attitudes for a long time. I used to just keep my mouth shut and stew in my own juices. What this got me was acid reflux. I now refuse to 'be nice' and let arrogance get away with it. We Brooklynites have an old saying; "Everybody's sh*t stinks". No one should be 'allowed' to get away with 'superiority complexes'. If you've ever dealt with people who believe that they are somehow 'displaced royalty', you know what I mean.

Michael -

I understand what you're saying and I wasn't implying that you shouldn't say anything - far from it! I just thought that perhaps a more diplomatic approach might have worked better to point out that the impressions left in her post were actually a hurtful stereotype. A resentful, equally insulting stereotype in return probably won't open someone's eyes in the way that you'd like. Or maybe it does and I'm completely naive here...

I'm a relatively recent import to Boston myself... I'm from the Midwest (nope, no Idaho here). I was a bit taken aback by the population here in Boston at first, but I LOVE the people here. The Boston accent cracks me up every time - I LOVE it, I love the generally warm-hearted people behind it. They're tough people to get to know, though, since they tend to assume that I'm one of those 'uppity college kids' (a stereotype that *I* find hurtful, but I do my best to be polite and kind and not further it).

I guess I just think that Katie didn't really mean to sound so insulting in her post and that she didn't realize how it would be taken. You're right to point out how much it hurts.

Too bad my dealership's a bit outside of the city (Elmsford); otherwise I might've offered to meet you for a drink to two after I pick up my car and head back to Boston. You know, we Bostonians aren't THAT bad (well... you might be able to persuade me that the Sox ARE, in fact, THAT bad).

Best wishes...
~Rachel

My dealership said they don't know why they removed the back 12 volt outlet in the 2003 models. It's kinda ridiculous, as they're selling coolers that plug into the back, but there's no more back plug. They went on to say that if enough people complained about it, MINI may do a retrofit for a back plug. They recommended that everyone call ASK-MINI and complain about and see what they do. OK everybody, let's get on the phones!

my dealer had told me that based on early impressions and the first year's reports and stuff that people generally did not find the back outlet necessary, and as to cut costs some, they decided to remove it. seems like it wouldn't save THAT much money, especially if the space for it and possible wiring is still all back there. There are some MCOers trying to figure out how to connect everything to put one back there again. i don't think i'd ever really have the need to use one back there, but i could, in fact, want it and it'd be nice to use..

in other news, i needed to take a package to the post office, so what better place to put in on the drive, but the parcel shelf? worked wonders by the way--

have a good weekend everyone, i better come back to new pictures!
