R50/53 THE APRIL CLUB
>>Rfath, thanks for the heads up on the 100's status....great to know. I may take the same tact on the Rota...I like the new special ed slipstreams...need to see them on a Mini first though....really like the Moda R2's -look great on the MCS....but a litle too heavy.
Yeah, I need to find a photoshop pro to put wheels on cars before I go out and get the wheels
But hey, we'll have almost-matching cars with the DS/DS combo! The only difference is that I got all three packages along with the auto-dimming mirrors.
I haven't seen a body-colored DS yet...

so, i'm sitting in physics class, and my phone rings (it's on vibrate, i dont like to disturb others, hehe)...i look at the caller id- it's the mini dealership. worried that they might not be able to get one of the accessories for my car, i slipped outside and answerered. MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP!!!
yeah, she gets to sit there for a week too...i cant do anything without my mom (co-signer) and the money they're giving me for my old car. they still arent convinced that i can afford the mini (i'm not entirely convinced either, but oh well, you only live once) so i've got to spend the next week in some sort of existential mini-less quandry...
but she's here, and i'm gonna go see her sometime next week, just as soon as i learn how to drive a stick right and proper.

NICE...anotherDS/DS'er!! I haven't seen one locally either...except at the auto show......my buddy wants me to get white wheels as a contrast...but no way...I think DS/DS is rich looking...don't want to mix it up w/ white wheels. Which Rota's are you thinking about getting?

chef,
Shadowfax and Motor'nMAX have plenty of time to hit the pubs prior to cruising. I thought the Tosca left on the 23rd but it leaves on the 26th. Too bad, would have had them 3 days earlier. Although, now we have nothing to sweat about and can enjoy a few draught ales

CONGRATS ADAM!!! the agony of waiting must be horrible, we all feel the pain together!
I haven't decided on my summer wheels yet; The Kosei K1 17x7.5 are 16.0 pounds, and the ASA LW5's are 17 pounds, both available in white, and both reasonably priced too. They both look decent on the car, more airy than the S-lite's, but also more technical without looking gross
2minis has the Kosei's on his race-MINI. Observe:

Cheers,
Ryan

I couldn't help myself. On the way back from a client meeting yesterday I stopped by my local MINI dealership. I was put on a wait list to order there last year. So I thought I'd ask how I'm doing on the list, and they said I'm right on schedule... expect to be able to place an order in September and pick up my MINI at the end of the year. Boy, I'm sure glad I found a dealership out of state that doesn't have a 12 month wait! Still, it was fun seeing the cars in the showroom and know that in another month, I'll be driving home in one! Something tells me it's going to be a long month.
MiniMarc: You're gonna have a great time Motoring from Baton Rouge to Cali

Veritas, I'm also considering Dunlop's SP9000's in stock sizing [205/45-17]. At 19.0 pounds, they are the lightest high-performance tire in that size, and I'm all about technical optimization
The Dunlop's are about $125/e, and acceptable increase in price over my 2nd choice, the Yoko ES100.
COOLBRZ, my curiosity is peaked; why did you buy a MINI in Italy?

par4,
Thanks for the great news! Perhaps if we can find an insider we can get the boots stuffed with some nice brown ale or stout before they go on the boat. What the boys don't finish on the cruise we can enjoy when they arrive.
I too plan on staying with the April Club. I always look for y'all on the other threads too.
Still hoping for TOSCA!

Listen to this........
Working with my dealer on the financing today and happened to ask if they had a delivery today. He said yes, but Bonzo was not on it. He went on to say that his sisters car did arrive and that her car was on the Jingu Maru! Well, at least I know there is progress at the VDC.
Later on I called back to go over some additional information and I asked if they ever got deliveries twice in one day? He answered, "Yes and in fact we got another one this afternoon. But, I'm not sure if your car is on it." He said he was swamped and would get back to me when he knew, but I haven't heard back yet. Now they are closed.
Oh So Close!!!!!

Hey, anyone see Borne Identity? Is there a MINI in it? One of my co-workers mentioned it to me.

Adam, they are $179 each from Tire Rack, (plug, you're welcome Dan), for a grand total of $716 for a set (of four!)
They weigh in at 16.0 pounds for the 17"x7", which are about 2 pounds lighter than the R84's (Y-spoke), and about 2 TONS lighter than the S-lite's (R85, actually, 9.0 pounds lighter)
Cheers,
Ryan

>>P.S. wagsFTB, what happend to your site with Winnie's pics?!
it's actually hosted by a friend of mine, and it comes and goes when he's working on it. he was kinda pissed that i posted pics cuz he tracks everyone's information that ever views his site (or something) and since a pic is on my sig line, everyone that looks at any post of mine inadvertently goes to his website, and somehow you (Ryan) found out that i've got craploads of pics, so his site got a few more hits than would otherwise get. but it's actually no big deal.. it's up now..
anyway, my dad was supposed to bring home the digi camera at work for me to take a pic of winnie's lovely dent on her bonnet, but he forgot. i'm going to take a pic of it with a reg camera and scan it in, but of course that will take months or so! but i wanted a good before and after shot. she'll be as good as new by wednesday/thursday...
oh get this crap... for those that remember, i got LoJack installed on my MINI due to a 20% decrease in my insurance rates because of it. well, dad calls today to make sure they've got me on the insurance and at the right price, and they said a number that was higher that what it should be. come to find out that some momo we talked to incorrectly told us the LoJack discount. it's actually only for certain states and VA is not one of them!! that was the ONLY reason i got the stupid thing! basically, i just threw away 800 bucks! sucks... and i think someone should be held reliable and I shouldn't have to pay... who knows what will happen.. bloody ******, rat bastard insurance momos.
anyway, hurry up everyone and get your MINIs.. it's getting lonely out in the real world all alone.
Ryan, slow down on your posts, buddy, you might burn a hole in something... i dunno what, but could be dangerous to someone, somehow..
